Spell Study

(this chapter, isagis thoughts are like “this text”)

---

The Hogwarts library was a sanctuary. Towering shelves stretched as far as the eye could see, filled with tomes of every size and color. The light from high windows illuminated the dust motes that danced lazily in the air, and the faint hum of whispered conversations was the only sound.

Isagi was on a mission. His Transfiguration assignment had proven trickier than expected, the spell to transform quills into candles refusing to work properly. He hoped a quiet hour with a book might hold the key.

He wandered through the aisles of the Charms and Transfiguration section, his fingers brushing over the spines of books. The titles promised everything from “Intermediate Spellwork” to “The Art of Precision in Transfiguration.” But before he could decide which book to pull, voices broke the silence.

---

“Reo, this is boring,” someone drawled, their tone slow and disinterested, as though even speaking required too much effort.

“It’s not boring if you actually try, Nagi,” another voice replied, this one sharper, with a note of exasperation.

Curious, Isagi followed the sound to a nearby table. There, he saw two boys—an odd pair, to say the least.

The first boy had violet hair that shimmered slightly in the soft light of the library. His posture was perfect, and his robes were immaculate, as though he’d just walked off the cover of a wizarding magazine. He sat with a textbook open in front of him, tapping his quill impatiently against the table. Shit, he was Handsome AND pretty. (id let him hit trust)

Across from him sat a taller boy with messy white hair that flopped into his eyes. His tie was loosened, his robes slightly wrinkled, and he leaned so far back in his chair that it seemed a miracle he hadn’t toppled over. In his hand, he casually spun a golden Snitch between his fingers, its wings fluttering weakly as though it had given up on escaping. Isagi glanced over, isthat his boyfriend? Or are they just friends?

“Are you even listening?” the violet-haired boy asked, his voice rising slightly. And he would take care of me? I need a type of man like him- wait, what am i thinking?

“I am,” the other replied, his tone completely unbothered. “You’re talking about… something spell-related.”

“Something spell-related?” The violet-haired boy sighed deeply, pinching the bridge of his nose. “We have a practical exam tomorrow, and you don’t even remember what we’re studying?”

“Relax, Reo,” the white-haired boy said with a lazy grin. “I’ll figure it out when the time comes.” Hes cute, i guess?

Isagi couldn’t help but chuckle softly, and before he could stop himself, he stepped closer.

---

“You know, you’re not going to figure out a spell mid-exam,” Isagi said, leaning slightly against the nearest shelf.

Both boys turned to look at him. The violet-haired one raised an eyebrow, while the white-haired boy simply blinked, as though processing whether or not he needed to care about a new person entering the conversation.

“And you are?” the violet-haired boy asked, his tone polite but wary.  Your future boyfriend xx

“Isagi Yoichi,” he said, stepping forward. “Gryffindor. I couldn’t help overhearing.”

The white-haired boy tilted his head. “Overhearing, huh? You spying on us or something?”

“Don’t be ridiculous, Nagi,” the violet-haired boy said, rolling his eyes. “This is Nagi Seishiro,” he added, gesturing to his companion, “and I’m Mikage Reo. Slytherin.”

“Nice to meet you,” Isagi said, his curiosity piqued. “What spell are you working on?”

Protego,” Reo said, sitting up straighter. “The Shield Charm. Simple in theory, but this guy”—he shot a look at Nagi—“doesn’t seem to care enough to practice.”

“Why bother?” Nagi said, shrugging. “If someone attacks me, I’ll just dodge.”

“Dodge?” Reo said, incredulous. “Do you hear yourself?”  Hes funny aswell, how dreamy

Isagi couldn’t help but laugh. “You do realize not every spell is something you can just dodge, right?”

Nagi shrugged again, his expression unconcerned. “Guess I’ll find out.”

---

“Why don’t we practice together?” Isagi offered. “I could use some work on it too.”

Reo’s eyes lit up. “That’s a great idea! Maybe someone who actually cares about their grades can motivate Nagi to try.”  HELL YEAHHH

Nagi groaned but didn’t protest as Reo stood and led the group to a quieter corner of the library. They cleared a small space, and Reo pulled out his wand.

“Alright,” Reo said, turning to Isagi. “Let’s see where you’re at. Cast Protego and I’ll send a simple Stinging Hex your way.”

Isagi nodded, gripping his wand tightly. “Ready.”

Reo flicked his wand, murmuring the incantation for the hex. A spark of light shot toward Isagi, who quickly raised his wand and shouted, “Protego!”

A shimmering barrier appeared in front of him, deflecting the hex harmlessly to the side.

“Not bad,” Reo said, nodding in approval.

“Let me try,” Nagi said, finally stepping forward and drawing his wand.

“Think you can manage it?” Reo teased.

“Probably,” Nagi said, his tone indifferent.

Reo cast the hex again, and Nagi lazily raised his wand. “Protego,” he said, almost as an afterthought. The shield formed, though it was faint and flickered slightly before disappearing.

“See? Easy,” Nagi said, slipping his wand back into his pocket as though the effort had been monumental.

Reo sighed. “You’re hopeless.”

---

As they wrapped up their practice, the three boys found themselves sitting on the floor, leaning against the bookshelves.

“So, Isagi,” Reo said, “what’s a Gryffindor like you doing practicing on a free afternoon? Shouldn’t you be off saving the castle or something?”

Isagi laughed. “Not today. I’ve been trying to get better at dueling since I lost to Rin Itoshi last week.”

“Rin, huh?” Reo said, his expression turning thoughtful. “I’ve heard about him. Supposed to be some kind of prodigy.”

“He is,” Isagi admitted, feeling a pang of frustration. “But I’m not going to let him stay ahead forever.”

“Interesting,” Reo said, a small smile playing at his lips. “I like ambition. If you’re serious about catching up to Rin, you should stick with us. I’m always looking for people who aim high.”

Nagi yawned, resting his head against a stack of books. “As long as it doesn’t involve too much effort,” he mumbled.

Isagi chuckled. “Thanks. I’ll think about it.”

---

As the sun began to set, the boys gathered their things and prepared to leave the library.

“See you around, Isagi,” Reo said, giving him a friendly nod. “And if you ever need someone to practice with, you know where to find us.”

“Yeah,” Nagi added, stretching as he stood. “Next time, bring snacks.”

Isagi grinned. “I’ll keep that in mind.”

As he walked back to the Gryffindor common room, Isagi couldn’t help but feel that meeting Reo and Nagi was the start of something significant. They were an odd pair, but there was something about them that intrigued him.  especially Reo- NO ISAGI! DONT!

Maybe, just maybe, they could help him become stronger.
