A Weird Beginning

Yoichi Isagi woke up on his first morning at Hogwarts with a mix of excitement and nerves. The Gryffindor dormitory was already bustling, the other first-years hurrying to get dressed and ready for their first day of classes.

“Isagi, hurry up!” Bachira called, bouncing on his toes near the door. “We’re going to miss breakfast if you take forever.”

“Coming!” Isagi replied, quickly shrugging into his robes.

The Gryffindor common room was just as lively as the dormitory, with students heading to the Great Hall or chatting in small groups. Bachira led the way, and they soon found themselves at the Gryffindor table, where steaming plates of eggs, bacon, and toast awaited them.

“What’s our first class?” Isagi asked between bites.

“Charms with Professor Flitwick,” (yes there is gonna be the original teachers cause i dont want to make up names) Chigiri said, consulting his neatly folded schedule.

“Perfect! I’ve been dying to try out a spell,” Bachira said, his eyes sparkling.

The first-year Gryffindors were joined by the Ravenclaws for Charms. Professor Flitwick, a tiny wizard who stood on a stack of books to see over his desk, introduced himself with enthusiasm.

“Today, we’ll begin with one of the most essential spells: the Levitation Charm!” he announced.

“Wingardium Leviosa,” Bachira whispered dramatically, waving an imaginary wand.

Isagi chuckled, but his laughter quickly turned into determination as they were handed their wands and paired with partners to practice.

“Remember, it’s swish and flick!” Flitwick instructed, demonstrating with a flourish.

Isagi’s partner was a quiet Ravenclaw boy named Yukimiya. Together, they tried to lift their feather off the desk. Yukimiya managed it first, the feather floating gracefully into the air.

“Nice one!” Isagi said, clapping lightly.

“Your turn,” Yukimiya replied with a small smile.

Isagi focused, his brow furrowing as he repeated the incantation. “Wingardium Leviosa.”

To his delight, the feather wobbled, then lifted a few inches off the desk.

“Great work, Mr. Isagi!” Flitwick cheered as he passed by.

Isagi beamed as Yukimiya patted him on the head

After Charms, the Gryffindors had Potions with the Slytherins in the dungeons. The room was dark and damp, filled with an assortment of cauldrons and glass jars containing strange ingredients.

Professor Snape swept into the room, his black robes billowing behind him. His sharp gaze immediately silenced the class.

“Potions,” he began, “is a subtle science and exact art. I expect precision, discipline, and attention to detail.”

Isagi found himself paired with a Slytherin boy who looked thoroughly unimpressed.

“Rin Itoshi,” the boy introduced himself curtly, not bothering to look up as he organized their ingredients.

“I’m Isagi Yoichi,” Isagi said, trying to sound friendly.

“Great,” Rin muttered, his tone flat.

”Rude much.” Isagi deadpanned

As the lesson began, Isagi quickly realized that Rin was exceptional at Potions. He worked methodically, measuring and mixing with precision.

“Add the crushed snake fangs now,” Rin said, his voice clipped.

“Uh, okay,” Isagi replied, fumbling with the ingredients.

“Not like that! You’ll ruin it,” Rin snapped, grabbing the pestle from Isagi’s hand.

Isagi frowned but held his tongue. By the end of the lesson, their potion was one of the few that earned Snape’s approval.

“Acceptable,” Snape said, giving Rin a brief nod.

Isagi noticed Rin didn’t even look pleased.

“You’re good at this,” Isagi said as they cleaned up.

“It’s not hard,” Rin replied coolly, before walking off without another word.

The afternoon brought their first Flying lesson. The Gryffindors and Slytherins gathered on the grassy pitch, where a row of brooms awaited them.

“Stand by your broom and say ‘Up!’” Madam Hooch instructed.

“Up!” Isagi commanded. To his surprise, the broom leapt into his hand on the first try.

“Whoa, nice!” Bachira said, struggling with his own broom.

Isagi grinned, but the smile faded when he noticed Rin nearby. Rin’s broom rose instantly, and he mounted it with ease, his expression unreadable.

As the lesson continued, Isagi couldn’t help but be impressed by Rin’s skill. He flew with confidence and precision, effortlessly weaving through the practice exercises.

“That guy’s unreal,” Bachira said, noticing Isagi’s stare.

“Yeah,” Isagi muttered.

---

By the end of the day, Isagi was exhausted but satisfied. He sat in the Gryffindor common room with Bachira and Chigiri, recounting the day’s events.

“Rin Itoshi, huh?” Chigiri said thoughtfully while brushing his hair. “I’ve heard about him. His older brother was a legend at Hogwarts. People say Rin’s trying to surpass him.”

“Sounds intense,” Isagi said, leaning back in his chair.

“He doesn’t seem like the friendly type,” Bachira added with a shrug.

Isagi didn’t disagree, but something about Rin intrigued him. Beneath the cold exterior, there was a drive and focus that Isagi couldn’t help but admire.

As he climbed into bed that night, Isagi’s thoughts lingered on the mysterious Slytherin boy. He didn’t know why, but he had a feeling their paths would cross again.
