Chapter 1
Hello all!
Welcome to my first published story!! In my head when I read the HP series I added my own mental spin to Hogwarts. So in this fic I have set up Hogwarts a little differently from the books. I wanted to clue you all in on some things before you read. Apologies for any plot holes moving forward, I will try to address them all here and if there is something that needs to be explained later I will come back and add it before the chapter is published.
Firstly, I aged up the school. Hogwarts is more like a college. So first years are usually 18 and 19, second years 19 and 20, third years 20 and 21, fourth years 21 and 22, fifth years 22 and 23, sixth years 23 and 24, seventh years 24 and 25. We will not be including minors here because it is a mature story.
There will be overlap between different eras here... I mainly set this in the Golden Trio era, but characters like Sirius Black, Regulus Black, Tom Riddle, Mattheo Riddle, etc will be featured at school at the same time. I mainly included them because I think they are hot, so I had to mentally work around the plot holes and here's what I came up with for y'all:
Sirius and Regulus are both descendants of the Black family, they're still cousins but I made up their parents. They will not really bear resemblance (personality wise) to their original characters from the series. The Sirius I use here is not Harry's godfather, they are unrelated. In fact I'm just going to avoid the concept of the original/book Sirius altogether.
Tom Riddle and Mattheo Riddle are not related to Voldemort. Tom Riddle is not Voldemort. Voldemort exists separately from both of them. I chose them for this story because young Tom Riddle and the usual fancast for Mattheo are both fine asf.
Since Harry doesn't have a godfather, he moved in with the Weasleys when he turned 18. Molly and Arthur are Harry's legal guardians.
Logistically speaking my Hogwarts is a little different from the books too. There are 14 people in each house per grade, not 10. So in each grade there are 56 students instead of the original 40. The original numbers felt just a bit too small.
Also, with dormitories, everyone has an individual dorm room instead of one big joint room. Don't ask me how that works with the architecture, we'll just say each house uses magic to fit all the dorm rooms. Lol
There is also a common room for every 7 students. So like there's a common room that joins the first year Gryffindor girls dorms, one that joins the first year Gryffindor boys dorms, etc etc
Along with that, the common spaces for each house are much more elaborate with many rooms.
The way classes work will be different too. There is more freedom with courses, more subjects available, courses that are available to more than one grade level, etc.
I added my own characters. As one does.
***IMPORTANT: I strongly disagree with JK Rowling's social and political views. This story is LGBTQ+. While most rights for the Wizarding World universe go to Rowling, I take credit for my OC's and for the creative liberties I took with this particular universe.
I'm sure I forgot some things, and I'm sure there are things you will figure out along the way as well. Thank you for your patience and I hope you like the changes I've made :-)
