Grumpy Moony
It was the day before the full moon and Sirius walked up the stairs to the dorm that he shared with his best friends James, Peter and Remus. Oh how important they were to him, what would he have done without them? Without the help James gave him after he escaped from his house, or without the comfort and fun they all supported him with he wouldn’t be here at all.
And that’s why he likes to give back what he can.
Remus is a werewolf and Sirius has known this for years now, and he helps him when he can, by staying with him before the infamous night and during it.
His relationship with Remus is different from any usual friendship. He can feel the tension but he doesn’t know if Remus feels it too. When they are alone, or too close, their eyes meet and Sirius gets lost in that sweet honey color that makes Remus oh so precious.
All of this became even more obvious after one night during a party at the dorms where they were both so drunk they couldn’t tell where they were. Well, they were on the stairs to the dorm, sitting on the steps and leaning on each other, when suddenly they found themselves snogging. Sirius doesn’t remember who initiated it but he remembers there was a lot of tongue and touching involved.
They Still haven’t talked about this and Sirius fears they never will. It’s probably better this way.
He turns the knob on the door slowly and walks in the room, which is darker than usual but there is a stride of soft light coming from one window.
He wasn’t sure on what he’d find in the room because it’s always a surprise, and this time there is soft music coming from a turntable. It’s Bowie, Remus’s favorite.
Other than that, the room is silent which means James and Peter are definitely not here.
“Moony?”
Sirius looks around the room and finds Remus on the bed with a book in his hands. Remus grunts and doesn’t look back at Sirius.
“Leave me alone”
Sirius lets out a loud and dramatic gasp and puts his hand on his heart.
“How rude! Don’t chase me away like that”
Remus completely ignores him even when Sirius lunges himself at the bed, right next to him.
Sirius prompts himself up on his elbows and looks down at Remus with a curious expression.
“What’s gotten you so grumpy? Is it the full moon or did something happen to you?”
“It’s nothing” Remus still hasn’t looked back at Sirius and for some reason this is infuriating to him.
“Liar” Sirius moves closer but still doesn’t touch Remus “come on talk to me”
“Leave it Sirius”
So Sirius as stubborn as he is tries again, this time he grabs the book out of Remus’s grasp with a fast swing
“Oi!” Remus exclaims and reaches for the book, but then he stops to look at Sirius, it’s like if he’s lost in the vision but then he finds his way out of it and pulls his eyes back to the book
“Sirius give it back I’m not in the mood”
“And why is that?” Sirius insists and pulls the book away from Remus’s reaching hand. Remus gives up and with a sigh he rolls over, lying on the bed and giving his back to Sirius who is looking at him with growing concern,
“None of your goddamn business”
Sirius huffs and sits up on the bed crossing his arm and leaving the book beside him, but making sure he’s keeping count of what page Remus was on before he snatched the book.
“Well mind you but I think that my friends well being is very much my concern”
Remus ignores him, he lets out no reaction at all except the tensing of his muscles which Sirius notices immediately
“Just tell me if it’s because of the full moon”
Silence fills the air for a short moment
“It is”
Lie, Sirius could smell it miles away, but he prefers not to look too much into it. Sure he wants to help, but he doesn’t want to push boundaries, not with anyone, especially Remus. Maybe it’s something he doesn’t want anyone to know. Or maybe it’s something about Sirius. No, no that’s definitely not it.
So, if he doesn’t know what’s wrong, how can he help?
He stays silent for a while, just looking at Remus, but then, almost automatically his hand moves and his fingers start running up and down Remus’s arm.
Remus seems to relax, his muscles unclenching and a small sigh escaping his chest. Sirius’s hand then moves up his neck and he digs his fingers through Remus’s hair, this provokes another very soft sound to escape Remus’s lips which makes Sirius feel a thousand different ways in one second.
“You know… I can help you out a bit, help you… relax”
What Sirius means is painfully obvious and as soon as Remus seems to grasp it he tenses up again, he then quickly sits up, making Sirius retract his hand in confusion.
“Fucking hell” Remus mutters before standing up.
