It was only the first day teaching at his new school, but Regulus was already exhausted.
In his first lesson he had a class with two boys who wouldn’t stop fighting. Even after Regulus put one boy at the other side of the room, they didn’t stop. They started throwing things through the classroom and actually hit a student, who he then brought to Ms. Pomfrey.
Although in his second lesson nobody had fought, they didn’t want to stop talking about their summer holidays. So Regulus wasn’t able to teach them either.
In his third lesson he actually managed to teach his students. But he then realised with all the stress he had that morning he had forgotten his lunch.
This morning he was very nervous and only his husband James Potter was able to calm him down. But it took him a while to do so, so at the time he finally calmed down he already had to drive to school because he definitely didn’t want to be late for his first day. So in all that hectic he forgot his lunch.
So now, in the break between his third and fourth lesson, he wrote to James how awful his day had already been.
Out of three lessons he only was able to teach in one, one student has gotten hurt and he forgot his lunch. So after his fourth lesson he would need to get food somewhere near the school because he definitely isn’t going to eat the school food.
James tried assuring him that his next lesson would be better, but with his luck he doubted that.
He was mentally preparing himself for his next lesson, when his students filled in. Regulus welcomed them and introduced himself as the new Professor.
He was about to start his lesson, when a student in the front row suggested that they first get to know him better. Of course everyone thought that this was a great idea because they all wanted to get some other information about him other that he is Professor Black and their new Professor.
The whole class was loud, so a different option other than letting everyone introduce themselves was as good as impossible.
Naturally he didn’t like this idea because it would mean he has to tell them something about himself and everyone who knows him is aware that he is a very private person and doesn’t like to share things about himself. Let alone to his students which he only knows since today.
But he saw this as the only way possible to calm down his class and maybe even manage to teach for the last ten to twenty minutes.
So he agreed to get to know everyone better with the help of a game. He and his friends invented this game in their first grade to get to know each other.
One person starts with telling their name and then everybody else is allowed to ask questions. And then the next person takes their turn.
The student who suggested getting to know him better started. His name is Phillip, he has a brother, his favourite subject is art and his hobbies are playing Badminton, painting and crocheting.
After thirty minutes everyone has took their turn except him. So he introduced himself as Regulus Black. Which he already thought was too much information he was sharing because now everyone knew his
first name. But then the questions started and almost every student had a question.
The first questions were just question like, what his favourite colour is, what his favourite food is and so on.
But then one student asked, if he has a girlfriend. Technically he doesn’t have one but the question is still too private to ask a teacher. So he just said, that he doesn’t has one and that they now have asked enough questions and that he will now start teaching them for the last fifteen minutes of this lesson.
But right at that moment somebody knocks on the door. At first he was a bit angry because why would somebody knock on the door of his classroom in the middle of the lesson. On top he has no idea who it could be.
But as soon as the door opens he is just confused because it is his husband James Potter with a lunch bag in his hand.
James steps in the classroom with all the eyes of the students on him. Of course they don’t know that this is their teacher’s husband, but as Regulus might have been able to guess James didn’t really plan to keep it that way.
As soon as James’ eyes met his’ eyes, James started smiling. He also felt how a small smile slowly crept on his face because he finally pierced together that his husband was here to bring him his lunch.
James walked to him and in the middle of his way to him, he said: „Darling, I brought you your lunch, you forgot this morning.”
Of course the “darling” didn’t go unnoticed by his class, so they all just looked at him and James in confusion.
James was now standing in front of him, giving him his lunch with a quick kiss.
With that his students only got more confused until the student, who had asked him before if he had a girlfriend said: “So you lied to us. You have a partner.”
“Yes, but you asked if I had a girlfriend, so I didn’t lie to you.”
“So that is your boyfriend?”
“Husband”, James said smiling, putting an arm around him.
The students gasped and he could see that they were about to asked many questions so he let them into break 5 minutes early.
