Chapter 1
Regulus had always known that he was destined to be nothing more than a mere shadow of his brother , he’d learned to embrace it, to Weald it to his own advantage .Regulus had, like most other things, excelled in the art of being entirely unnoticeable .
Everyone that knew him well enough would tell you that Regulus Arcturus Black was only found when he wanted to be ,the only Exception of course being that of his obnoxious brother. He always seemed to be aware of when regulus needed pulling from the darkness that resides in his mind . The muffled screeches of fury and disapproval .The crushing weight of expectations that threatened to collapse his ribs and carve words of hatred into his heart .The fear that seemed continuously more consuming filled his lungs until there was no longer room for wasted words .Sirius was always regulus’ place of refuge ,that was until the the summer before 5 year when regulus became truly alone.
Sirius had always been tempting fate with their mother, tugging at strings that really ought not to be touched in case of Repercussion that Sirius seemed entirely too resigned to so long as he made it abundantly clear to anyone that had so much the misfortune of being engaged in a conversation with him ,that he disagreed with all the “narcicistic pureblood bullshit”that there mother and every other respectable member of the sacred 28 sprouted off .

Regulus could hear the gasping breaths that Sirius heaved through his lungs .how they hitched as the movement of his chest pulled on the Tough skin along his front .regulus could see were there mothers curses had strikes his chest ,the deep crimson that seeped into the thin shirt that Sirius adorned .
Regulus had shuffled across the floorboards to reach his brother ,stoping at his side to lift the saturated fabric from his body. For all the talk of there blood being pure their mother sure didn’t seem reluctant to spill it.
“Why must you antagonise her so? “ his words had meant to come out steady and mildly annoyed but rather seemed ripped from his throat prematurely, hause and full of pleading .
“You must know it will only cause you pain.”
This only seemed to anger Sirius, his expression hardening and words turned spiteful.
“And what do you suppose I do Reggie ,sit there in silence as they talk of others as mere specs of dirt on there shoe ,like they are so much better than them”despite the pain that Sirius appeared to be in his back had straitened and had taken on a defensive position or as much as you can when one is curled on the floor.
“You don’t have to agree which what there saying ,you just have to stop being so loud in your rebellion”he had begun healing Sirius and the words had come out as a whisper ,clearly afraid of there mother hearing even a hint of the possibility that regulus wasn’t as dedicated to there beliefs as they thought .
Sirius’ was clearly in a lot of pain ,any slight movement caused a jult through his body that indicates the sharp tugging on the fresh wounds.yet when he spoke it was with surprising clarity
“I would rather die with the taste of my freewill and defiance to this family than live with the Knowledge that I am just as monstrous as them by simply choosing to ignore how everything they do is wrong”
Regulus shouldn’t have been surprised .Sirius embodied the role of a gryffindor. Brave ,obnoxious and overly loud in there opinions , however he thought that with the years spent within the walls of grimmauld place Sirius might have gained some self preservation.
“…than you are even more foolish than I thought “
