The intro notes
Both Harry Potter and Good Omens are delightful works of adventurous and comedic fantasies that mainly target children and young adults readers. However, this crossover fanfiction aims to maintain a sense of charm and whimsy while also delving into darker themes, including violence and explorations of trauma, child soldiers, physical torture, S.A.
Though I enjoy writing lighthearted fluff, this storyline will entail wars across the realms of Heaven, Hell, and Earth, where pain and suffering do not wait for age permission.
To create a cohesive universe that bridges "Good Omens" and "Harry Potter," I will implement several significant changes to world-building, which will be outlined subsequently.
1) The story will start from what my imagination forGood Omens Season 3 is and the first book of HP series - Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone. The year will be 1991.
The whole dynamic of Adam Young and his group during the apocalypse in Good Omens Season 1 feels very much Stranger-Things-1980s coded anyway.
2) In Harry Potter, witches relied on magic to evade the witch hunts of the 14th century, merely experiencing a tickling sensation during their burnings. In contrast, this fanfic follows the darker narrative found in Good Omens, where witches and wizards faced the grim reality of being burned alive if their powers were discovered.
3) In this fanfic, the wizarding community is considerably less populated compared to Muggles. Children born to witches have a greater likelihood of possessing magical abilities than those born to wizards. This explains the pure-blood obsession prevalent in the wizarding world.
4) I have thoroughly enjoyed the Harry Potter series and still consider it to be nothing short of brilliant.
It's clear that during the time J.K. Rowling was crafting this enchanting tale, she made a commendable effort to be as inclusive as possible.
However, the portrayal of Eastern wizarding communities remains noticeably limited. To fill this void, I've developed a fanfiction narrative that explores the historical and cultural reasons behind this oversight.
In this fanfic:
In the eastern reaches of the world, magic once flourished among a vibrant community of wizards and witches, they were treated with respect and lived in harmony with muggles. However, in the lead-up to the dawn of industrialization in the UK and the world colonization of the British empire, this once-prosperous community began to dwindle, with even those from magical lineages succumbing to mysterious decline. The subsequent waves of colonization further eroded their numbers.
By the time our story unfolds, eastern wizards and witches have become an endangered species. Whispers circulate that their downfall stemmed from their belief in the untapped magical potential of eastern muggles, whom they sought to aid in unlocking their abilities. Tragically, the truth is more sinister: Heaven's archangels were tasked with exterminating eastern magic users by the Metatron, incinerating their tomes and systematically diminishing their descendants' fertility.
5)In this fanfic, the central protagonist group consists of Aziraphale, Crowley, Harry Potter, and Padma Patil, with Padma envisioned as the eastern female counterpart to Harry.
Notably, Harry and Padma will maintain a platonic relationship, while the only confirmed romantic pairings are Aziraphale with Crowley and Ron Weasley with Hermione Granger.
Additionally, Padma harbors unreciprocated feelings for Hermione.
There's also an ongoing dilemma regarding Harry's romantic interests, as I'm still deciding between pairing him with Ginny or Luna or even Draco. I’m leaning more towards the canon Harry x Ginny though.Draco will have some character development in this fanfic regardless the romantic storyline.
6) Padma and Parvati are cousins in this fanfic, not twins. They both are quite ooc comparing to their original personalities in the Harry Potter series.
Padma in this fanfic is extraordinarily beautiful for plot reason. It’s also because I keep having images of Aishwarya Rai or Alia Abhatt in my head when I write her.
This fanfic is mainly inspired and following Harry Potter the book version not the film version. There will be some changes of course, to fit with Good Omen’s universe.
Finally, as a writer and a reader, I wholeheartedly embrace Franz Kafka's sentiment that literature should provoke and challenge us.
He stated, "I think we ought to read only the kind of books that wound or stab us. If the book we're reading doesn't wake us up with a blow to the head, what are we reading for? So that it will make us happy, as you write? Good Lord, we would be happy precisely if we had no books…"
In line with this philosophy, I will not shy away from writing psychoanalysis discussion, the exploration of ethical dilemmas and philosophical conflicts that arise among the characters.
Thank you, and I hope you have a good time here.
