Favorite Color

Sirius listened to the steady thrum of Remus’ heart as sunlight shone through the curtains of the bed. It was around midday, which ment James was going for his usual fly around the grounds, zooming around the grounds. Peter, usually following whatever James does, went with him. And that was that.

It left the perfect window of time for Remus and Sirius to steal away little moments like this one.

Sirius stroked a finger lazily down Remus’ side, a little flare of delight went through him to feel the boy sigh in relief.

Sirius thought of all the things he didn’t know about his Moony, despite having been secretly dating him for a few months. Little things, like his favorite food or his favorite animal.

“…Moony?” He said softly.

“Pads?”

“What’s your favorite color?”

Remus paused the hand delicately clawing through Sirius’ hair to think it over.

“I suppose I never really had a favorite color..” he murmured thoughtfully.

Sirius pulled his head up from his chest in surprise. “That can’t be true! How could you not have a favorite color?!

Remus let out a startled little chuckle, holding his hands up in mock surrender. “I guess I never picked…is that so bad, Padfoot?”

“Of course it is!” Sirius huffed. “Here, pick one right now.”

Remus took a moment to mull it over, looking around the bed before settling on looking at Sirius. “Hmmm…then I guess I pick…blue.”

The same color of Sirius’ eyes.

Sirius’s lips immediately curled back into a giddy grin. He quickly tackled him in a hug, burying his face in Remus’ neck.

“I love you, you know that?!” He said happily, as he pecked a trail of kisses along his neck. His nose tingled in delight as he took in Remus’ smell. Chocolate, freshly-washed clothes, and just the littlest hint of sweat. Safe.

Remus let out a startled laugh, using his hands to grab his waist and pull him closer, planting a kiss on the side of his head.

“‘Love you too, Pads.”

James zoomed around the grounds, laughing at the shock of the bustling students scattered here and there. He even saw Lily! He shot her a little wink, and she gave him a little shy wave. His grin widened as her friends next to her laughed and teased.

He felt empowered, the wind blowing through his hair and across his toned skin left him with a glorious chill that made him feel alive.

He was flying around, around, around Gryffindor tower, when he suddenly stopped by the window of his dorm.

He peaked in, and his eyebrows shot up to his hairline in shock.

Remus and Sirius laid in the same bed, legs entangled. Sirius had tackled Remus in a hug, leaving doting little kisses across his neck. And Remus’ eyes shown with happiness.

Suddenly, his eyes drifted away from Sirius and to the window James peaked in from. The affectionate smile on Remus’ face dropped in realization.

The two locked eyes for a second of tension.

When James brought up his hand into a thumbs up, he nodded his head in approval. Remus seemed to let out a small sigh of relief.

And James quickly zoomed off on his broom to leave them to their privacy, spiraling down the side of Gryffindor tower, a smile beginning to form across his face.

Of course. It makes so much sense. He thought happily to himself.

Just then, Peter rode up to his side. His creamy brown hair was swept in the wind and his chubby cheeks had a red tint of chill to them.

The boy smiled teasingly at James. “What happened? Why are you smiling like that, Prongs?”

James only laughed, flying away, leaving Peter playfully chase after him.
