Day 7 Celestial Maiden
"Did it hurt when you fell from heaven?"
You've heard that joke made so many times to your boss that you just sighed or groaned and rolled your eyes maybe even shake your head too. But sadly you've grown used to it working as a nurse under the local healer's clinic. However this time you bit your tongue and just handed her the ointment she held out her hand for.
The doctor sat there only smiling at the bruised idiot smiling back to her. "Yes. I hear it all the time from my husband. Funny how so many people thinks I got kicked out when I really just chose to live on earth."
Her words always confused you. Instead of joking back or correcting him she always said something along those lines as if she just willingly chose to walk out of heaven herself which was impossible but you supposed it was her way of dealing with the unwanted attention of her admirers so her rabid husband wouldn't chase patients and potential future customers away. Even as they spoke, said man was throwing a rather scary look over his shoulder and death gripping the broom from where he was supposed to be sweeping. Mr. Yushiro could be pretty scary when he wanted to.
You again handed Ms. Tamayo a roll of clean bandages she held out her hand for and you obliged. Well you couldn't blame all the admirers. Doctor Tamayo was a rather beautiful woman..in fact you would say your boss was the most beautiful woman you've ever seen as if heaven itself gifted her with brains and beauty. You thought you had seen an angel upon first seeing her when you woke up from a coma..
"There. All done!" She smiled at the man who lifted his arm to look at his bandaged wrist. "Now next time don't get so drunk to the point of sticking your hand in fire."
"Thanks, Doctor. If I had a wife like you then I'd never be in this situation."
You heard what must've been the millionth broom snapped under the vice grip of the doctor's assistant as he looked ready to literally kill this man. Sensing the soon to be criminal wanted for murder, the doctor quickly ushered the patient to you to have him pay and escort to the door. You've done this multiple times to know the drill. After all you've worked for the mysterious doctor since you woke up in her care.
Unfortunately you had been born with a terrible terminal illness that left you mostly weak and bed ridden most your life and when you had finally fallen into a coma, your family had given up on you finally. Gifting you to a doctor who offered to take you off their hands and like it was giving away a gift they agreed so easily. It hurt you more than anyone will ever know. But miraculously you had woken up. And not only woken up but as healthy and hardy as a normal person. Awaken to her sitting over you smiling.
"Ah. You woke up two days earlier than I expected."
"Are you an angel?"
She chuckled at you. "No but I'm friends with quite a few. My name is Doctor Tamayo. Your family gave you to me to care for."
You confused looked around the room. You were on a bed in what looked like an office. "Where am I?"
"My new clinic. But I am afraid you have no way to pay nor does your family so I'm afraid you'll have to work it off. Don't worry. I'm sure you'll be a wonderful nurse with some training."
It's not like you had a choice but you didn't mind learning medicine and working as her nurse. She even gave you a small salary as you worked off the expensive treatment she did to cure you. However you still didn't know HOW she worked her business. You never seemed to have to buy new supplies because they would miraculously reappear fully stocked in the cabinets and on shelves. You never knew what the mysterious ointments and medicines were made from and when you asked her-
"Oh. Just some medicinal herbs and homemade recipes from my homeland."
Vague but then again being such a successful person it's natural she might want to keep her techniques secret. And you chalked up the supplies to Mr. Yushiro just being extra efficient as he usually was dutifully making sure everything was clean, the patients were taken cared off when his wife wasn't present, and even made sure you were eating well which you appreciated. However...
You still couldn't help but feel like there was something otherworldly about your boss..Then again you were probably just overthinking things.
