Day 3 Until Death Do You Part

A marriage was a union of two souls in eternal love.

And of course a marriage meant that there was also a wedding. A wedding was supposed to be the most joyous day where love conquers all. Two hearts melt into one another before confessing undying love and joining for eternity for holy matrimony. Or for loved ones to join in to celebrate the couple's special day. Cheering and exchanging smiles. Then the couple would dance the night away. Cutting cake. Drink champagne. Settle down and plan their lives together.

Unfortunately for her that part of her life seemed to be a lie. A fantasy that would forever be out of her reach since that fateful day on the bridge. She could still remember it vividly. The sun was shining down brightly and the small stream under their feet was babbling and she was lovingly looking at her fiance as he said her name-

"Only a bear or a boar or a bull would marry you. Just thinking your odd hair color would pass on to my children give me shivers. And just forget about me. Goodbye."

The bridge that once housed two people now only held one as she was left there standing staring off as he left her there never to return again. That was the day that set her off on her quest. If her family could accept her as well as her friends then there must've been someone..ANYONE who'd accept her as she was flaws and all surely. She just had to look harder for him. And look for him. ...And look for him.

Perhaps a demon slaying corporation that mainly focused on fighting evil demons wasn't such a good place to find a husband after all. Everyone was simply too focused on the task at hand usually.

"Rough day again, Miss?"

Bright green eyes looked up at the man before her. Smile dawning his face and kind eyes looking down upon her. His apron gave away his position as the cook here immediately. Often times she'd come here to eat away her sorrows and indulge in the pleasurable tastes of food served to be eaten.

A sigh left her mouth as she slumped over onto the table. "I'm gonna die alone." The hardwood table met her forehead as she laid there. "I'll be an old maid with nothing but a lonely life to show for my efforts."

"Hey. It's alright. Sometimes love takes a little time to work it's magic," he tried to comfort her. "You'll find someone to marry some day."

That's how he always was. 'My best customer' is what he'd always say when she'd stop by sometimes with Rengoku but most of the time by herself. He'd happily feed her dish after dish and wave good bye when she paid the huge bill and went on her way until she was drawn back here. Mostly because of the reasonable prices and the great food but also because of the friendly atmosphere it always had. There was always a smile on the owner's face and a eagerness to fulfill her every food wish. Sometimes they even small talked about this and that. Basically everything and anything from the weather to her cats back home. And sometimes he'd give her the occasional pep talk like now.

"By then I'll be a hundred years old with more wrinkles than a bunched up blanket."

"Now that's no way to talk about yourself. Here." Her eyes looked up when a small thunk sound came above her head as he placed a bowl down in front of her. Steam rising from it's top with the scents of beef and spices wafting off it. "All sorrows are lesser with a full stomach. Eat up. It's on the house today."

"HAA!" Immediately she sat right up beaming at him. "Really?!"

He chuckled. "Sure. You're always giving me good business. It's good to spread the good fortune you know. Now don't fret about love anymore." He pointed at her. "You'll find the right man someday."

"You really think so?"

"I know so! No man would resist a kind lovely woman like you! If I wasn't so busy I'd probably have married you myself a long time ago!"

"Oi! Y/n!!,"a man from the other side of the restaurant called holding up an empty bowl annoyed. "Get me some more Udon over here will you?!"

"Coming right up! Excuse me, Miss Kanroji." He apologized giving the wife eyed woman a quick bow. "I have to go. Enjoy your soup!"

She said nothing as he walked away to tend to other customers with that happy smile and jolly personality. Oblivious to the way her face lit up a red as she watched him. If he wasn't so busy...then he'd marry her?! Was that a proposal?! Was he serious about wanting to marry her?! That was the kindest thing anyone has ever said to her!

Actually the thought of marrying him hadn't ever even crossed her mind before. Not sure why. Perhaps because she was always more focused on the food itself and her own self wallowing than the cook himself? But now that the thought entered her mind if wouldn't let go. Imbedding itself into her mind like tree roots. He would've married her if she wasn't so busy. That implied he wasn't married himself or seeing anyone else just like her. That means that if he had the chance then he'd leap to be hers!

And that's what had her clutching her face and smiling wide eyed at him.

Problem is he was always too busy that he'd never find the time to spare ... Don't worry! She'd help him! She'd fix the problem! Then he wouldn't have to worry about anything else but their future together and getting married! She could just see it now. Her, him, and her entire friends and family surrounded by the love of the ceremony. Confessing their love for each other and be together forever.

Until DEATH did they part now.
