Candy hearts

Severus was a good best friend. He’d taught her so many things about magic and never made fun of her when she asked a million questions.

Lily had never had a friend like Severus. Sure she had friends, and she had Tuney most of her childhood, but no friends who really understood her the way Severus did.

She wanted to get him something nice for Valentine’s day. To show she cared about him, to show she.. liked him.

She walked down hogsmeade by herself, she’d told Severus she needed to get some girl things. Which was very not true, but it got him to blush and scurry off in the other direction so whatever worked.

She entered the candy shop, her mum had always gotten her dad some sort of candy for Valentine’s day. She thought Severus may appreciate candy too.

She skipped down the aisle looking at all of the valentines options, when she found a box of little candy hearts. They weren’t like the ones she was used to, they actually were charmed to speak their cute sayings out loud, but they would work. They were cute!

She happily skipped up to the counter and bought the hearts, having the shop owner shrink them so she could put them in her pocket.

When she had them in her pocket and secured she headed back out to find Severus. She headed towards J.Pippins potions, knowing that is exactly where he’d be.

When she got there she snuck up on him, “boo.” She said quite loudly as she grabbed his shoulders. He jumped looking at her in panic with his wand out before taking a deep breath.

“You scared me Lils, christ.” Severus shook his head with a huff, turning up just the corner of his mouth slightly as a smile to her. She just stuck her tongue out back and helped him find his ingredients.

When they were done, they headed out to go back to the castle, walking so closely that their hands brushed and they blushed each time.

The next morning, Lily woke early to get dressed and head down to the dungeons. The box of candy hearts safely tucked away in her pocket. “Morning Sev!” She said, a hyperness to her voice as she waved.

“Goodmorning.” Severus grumbled back. “Why’re you here?” He tilted his head with a questioning glance. His eyebrow raised higher when he saw how excited she looked.

She didn’t reply at first, she grabbed his hand and dragged him off to an empty part of the corridor. She took out the box of candies, and made them larger with her wand, before handing them over to Severus.

“Happy Valentine’s day!” She says cheerfully, but her smile drops fast when he just stares at her hands. “They’re candy hearts, they scream cute things.” She was blushing now.

“Why?” He was clearly confused, and had a shake to his voice. He took the candies and stared at them, his head tilted.

“Well because I care about you! On Valentine’s day you give people you care about presents. Cute hearts, or chocolate, and the person usually says thank you! ” She huffs, crossing her arms.

“Oh, no one’s ever done that for me before. Thank you.” He said awkwardly, holding the candies close to his chest. “I didn’t get you anything, Lils.”

Lily waved it off with a hand, kissing his cheek gently. “That’s okay Sev, you can get me something next year. Now come on, I’m hungry!”

She pulled his arm to drag him towards the great hall, completely missing his blush from the cheek kiss.
