Dinner is always a quiet affair.
Sitting at the dinner table of the most noble house of black the only thing Sirius is hearing is Regulus struggling to pick up his food. Sirius turned his attention to Regulus with a soft smile,, Regulus"
he whispers, ,,you have to hold your fork like this" he picks up his own to show him but suddenly a cold voice cut through their smiles. ,,Sirius I heard you picked some trouble with the neighbors boy today"
,,mother, he was making fun of regulus so I ju-" ,,I do not care, you humiliated and almost exposed us today" Sirius keeps his head down at his Food but his hands start creeping to Regulus small fingers.
Regulus looks at Sirius with a confused expression and the fork in his mouth. ,,We expect you in the drawing room after dinner"
Sirius eyes widen as his heart starts beating faster but the only thing on his mind was the look regulus was giving him. He looked worried. Sirius gives him a soft but sad smile as he continues to eat his food.
Regulus wasn’t dumb and Sirius knows that. Even though Regulus was younger than him Reggie still understood things better than him and Sirius is proud of that but as they were walking up the stairs, so he could put Reggie to bed, regulus breath starts to shorten. ,,Siri?“ his quiet voice says ,,yes Reggie?“
,,Are they going to hurt you“ ,,I don’t know, but don’t worry I can handle that“ Sirius says while trying to give Regulus a confident smile. They walk up the stairs and go into Regulus room. Sirius puts Regulus into bed, sits down on the floor and puts his head on the bed. He starts brushing Regulus hair with his fingers and a quiet gentle voice starts singing.
„close your eyes“ Regulus smiles
„have no fear
he monsters gone
he’s on the run and your Siri is here
beautiful, beautiful, beautiful,
beautiful boy“
the lyrics were wrong it should be “the humans are gone” but living in this house Sirius knows what real monsters the ones are the human fear, the ones he fears, the ones little Reggie fears.
When Regulus eyes start shifting Sirius stands up and starts walking towards the door, stopping to take one last look at regulus before leaving with a sad smile.
„mother, father“ he keeps his head down and his voice steady. What happens next is not clear to Sirius one moment he’s being screamed at and the next he lies on the floor face drenched with tears, sweat and blood. Body aching and his head spinning. He hears his parents leave the room and in that moment, he makes a decision.
The house was quiet, calm even but Sirius eyes were wide awake as he slowly starts going out of bed and picking his clothes up into a backpack. Slowly creeping out the door Sirius starts walking towards Reggie’s door opening it as quiet as he can and walking to his bed carefully shaking him:
„Reggie, Reggie wake up“
„Siri what are you doing“ he joins awake the moment he sees his backpack.
„Regulus listen to me closely“
„no Siri plea-“
„yes listen we need to go now come on we don’t have that much time" regulus scramble out of bed picking his clothes out of his closet and putting them into Sirius backpack.
,,Okay listen to me Reggie we have to be quiet, okay?" regulus nods taking Sirius hand into his own. They both make their way to the front door looking back one las time before disappearing behind the door. They leave just after sunrise through the woods into a new world. After a few Regulus was getting tired. ,,Come on Reggie just one bit"
,,Siri I can’t"
,,okay come on hop on my back" Sirius says despite all the pain he’s felling in his body. They make their way through the night until Sirius stops in a small town. He doesn’t stop walking until they stand in front of a small house a bit away from the town. ,,Reggie wake up were here" Regulus opens his eyes looking around than climbing of Sirius back. They knock on the door until an older man in his 400s opens it. ,,Oh Sirius what did they do to you” the older man says. He lifts his hands to examen Sirius face. ,,hi uncle Alphard don’t worry its not that bad” ,,well come on in don’t stand there in the cold” Sirius goes though the door with Reggie behind him ,,hello, Regulus how are you?”
A quiet hello comes from behind Sirius
,,Come on let’s get you guys settled in and cleaned”
Living with Uncle Alphard is like a dream come true.
They spend 3 months living their best live at their uncles house. Lathing at the dinner table, Alphard reading them stories at bedtime, baking human recopies or waking up to breakfast on the table. They learned what it meant to get a parents love because their uncle treated them like their own. Sirius bruises slowly started healing. His soul too. Regulus was beginning to warm up and soon enough he wasn’t so shy anymore.
Until one night.
,,Sirius, Sirius wake up!” Sirius joints awake ,,What uncle what time is it what happened”
,,Sirius listen take your brother and run”
,,What no hat about you”
,,Sirius we don’t have time come on now” Sirius did what he was told. Jumping out of bed and running to this brothers room getting him and leaving but the moment he saw what was happening he stopped looking at the burning house.
,,NO UNCLE” he started crying as he realized his uncle as gone and now regulus was crying too.
He didn’t know what to do his uncle was dead his brother crying and their home burning but why?
Because of humans.
Walking though the forest both brothers crying there wasn’t much hope for them especially now that the sun was rising. Sirius settles down at a tree with his brother in his arm exhausted from everything that happened and from the worry about what will happen. Regulus was already sleeping when Sirius started drifting of.
A hand on his shoulder waking him up. He opens his eyes looking up at the person speaking to him but the moment their eyes meet something happens.
