The Beginning

James Perspective:

Walking into a new school was always hard for James. He'd switched a lot since his dad's work involved a lot of moving. The offices at all his schools usually had a similar layout so there shouldn't have been a problem finding it but this school was huge. The glass windows were beautiful and he couldn't help himself from staring. He finally found it and walked in. A black haired boy walked out before him looking annoyed. He entered and a smaller older man looked up at him with sparkling blue eyes.

"Ah you must be James Potter."

He nodded shaking the strange man's hand.

"I'm Mr. Dumbledore."

"Nice to meet you, sir."

Mr. Dumbledore chuckled and motioned for James to sit. He spoke of the usual spiel and James half-heartedly listened too focused on the painted windows all around. Finally a smaller boy with paste blonde hair entered and introduced himself to James.

"I'm Peter Pettigrew, I'll show you around."

"Cheers mate."

James smiled and followed him out. They walked out and into the quad. Peter spoke quickly and with a slight stutter but James didn't mind.

"There's the rich kids, don't even bother. Severus Snape is the worst of all."

"What's wrong with them?"

Peter looked at James in a "Ill show you what I mean" kind of way as they approached the group.

"Hey boys."

They all looked at him disgustingly and Snape sneered pointing his nose upward. James didn't understand how he was the so called 'ruler' of that group if his hair was a greasy mess and fell halfway into his face. They walked off and then James saw the most beautiful girl. She walked past with auburn hair that flowed down her back in perfect small waves. Freckles danced across her skin and when he heard her laugh, oh man. He knew he was in trouble. Peter snapped in front of his face and tutted.

"Who's that?"

He assumed Peter rolled his eyes but James refused to take his eyes off this girl.

"That would be Lily Evans."

He rolled the name around in his head over and over again. Even her name was perfect.

"She's-

"Horrid."

"What no?"

"grotesque."

"No! How could you say that?"

"sickening."

James huffed a sigh and finally looked at Peter.

"There's more to her than you think."

They continued walking.

"You see that sundress she's wearing? See she wears it knowing that every guy will do a double take, but she knows she won't curse them with even a glance back."

James rolled his eyes. He didn't care. That girl was the only girl for him and he wouldn't give up that easily.

"I don't care. There has to be something."

"Well actually she's looking for a french tutor."

James stopped walking and grinned.

"That's perfect!"

"Oh uh, do you speak french?"

"well no, but I'll learn."

Peter just shook his head as they walked to their class.
