“Right, here’s what we know,” said Hermione as another tremor rocked the Room of Requirement. “The school is being attacked by dark forces. Aside from us five, we don’t know who else is still alive. They’ll break through any minute, and we need a plan.”

“I can’t take you seriously when you’re half-naked,” Harry moaned, covering his eyes.

Ron covered his similarly. “And why were you half-naked in here with him?”

Hermione scowled whilst Draco smirked. It wasn’t her fault the school had come under attack just as he’d gotten her shirt off. She should’ve expected her friends wouldn’t appreciate the fashion sacrifice she’d made to save precious seconds for defending themselves.

“You two had quite a debaucherous evening in mind, didn’t you?” asked Blaise, seeming impossibly bored given the situation.

“We need a plan,” Hermione repeated, swiftly vanishing the nearby bed and accompanying accoutrements. “We can’t fight them without an army, so here’s my proposal: this room can’t create living people for us, but it can create dead things.”

Everyone blinked at her.

“You know,” she continued. “Corpses. But not real ones, see? We’ll raise an army of Inferi to keep them occupied while we run for it.”

Harry and Ron looked grave while Blaise shrugged.

Draco’s smile widened. “That’s exceptionally dark magic, Granger.”

“Do you have a better idea?” she snapped.

“No, I just bloody love you,” he breathed before his cheeks reddened, and their classmates looked on in horror.

Hermione’s heart fluttered happily, but now wasn’t the time for that conversation.

“That is—” he started awkwardly. “We might not survive, and—”

She quickly pressed her lips to his, ignoring her friends’ groans as corpses piled around them.

“We’ll survive,” she promised, and they readied their wands.

The room shook again as their undead army began to rise.
