Summary
Three times Harry tries and fails to woo and ask Severus out before finally succeeding.
Note
Just a little something for Valentine's day ♥️💚

Eighth year Harry Potter took a deep breath. Why was he nervous? He didn't even feel like this when he faced Voldemort for the final time. “Come on Harry.” He said to himself. “This is only Severus.” He looked down at the note in his hand and read over the small poem there. “Ah!” He shouted when he felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned to see Draco grinning at him. “This isn't funny! Can't you see how nervous I am?”

“Why? It's only Severus.” the blond frowned.

“You would say that, you grew up seeing him a lot, you know him. I am hoping to get that privilege.” Harry moaned.

“Look, I have seen Severus read Shakespeare a lot. He will appreciate this a lot.” Draco answered. “Look, he is just coming out of the Great hall. Catch him now quickly.”

Harry nodded and hurried down the stairs. “Professor Snape? A moment of your time please.”

Severus Snape stopped and turned. “Mister Potter?” Seeing Harry was holding a piece of paper, he arched a single brow. He was warned by Draco to be kind to Harry as he liked him. Severus himself didn't believe it. But since he had been told he had seen Harry watching him more.

Harry cleared his throat. “Roses are red, violets are blue-”

“Actually Mister Potter, violets are closer to the colour purple. Although you can get white ones. Even yellow. Good day Mister Potter.”

Draco hurried over to Harry when he saw Severus walk away. “Go well?”

Harry glared at Draco. “Did it look like it went well?”

The next day, Ron sat down next to Harry just as he was finishing his breakfast, “Draco told us about yesterday." he said as he handed him a piece of paper. “Try this poem. It does work. It got me Draco so it can work on a Slytherin.”

Harry took the piece of paper and read it before chuckling. “I'm not surprised it worked. This is stroking a Slytherins ego.”

“Of course it is. So give it a try.”

Severus had finished his breakfast when he saw the Weasley boy enter the Great hall and sit by Harry, handing him a piece of paper. He sighed. No doubt Harry was going to try again today. He'd be lying if he said he wasn't flattered. All the people to choose from and Harry wanted him. He knew he wanted Harry but why not have a little fun first? See how many times Harry would try before actually going with his own ideas in asking him out.

Ron nudged Harry. “Here he goes, catch him quick before he leaves the Great hall. If this worked on someone like Draco it will work on Snape. Go on mate.”

Harry took a deep breath and nodded as he stood up. “Okay. I'll do it.” he said as he got up and hurried between the tables to try and catch up with Severus’ long strides. “Professor Snape?”

Severus stopped at the doors and turned to see Harry hurry up to him. A crumpled up piece of paper in his hand. “Mister Potter?”

Harry cleared his throat. “Gryffindor is Red. Slytherin is Green-”

“Ravenclaw is Blue and Hufflepuff is Yellow. Well done for remembering the right colours after seven years. Good day Mister Potter.”

Ron walked up to Harry and watched as Severus walked away. “How did it go?”

Harry glared and shoved the piece of paper at Ron. “How do you think?”

Hermione sat down facing Harry in the Great hall and smiled at him. “I have been told your attempts to woo a certain Professor isn't working.”

“No. I tried to start with a poem Draco made, but got shot down. Tried with a poem Ron did that he said would work on a Slytherin as it worked and got him Draco. Shot down again.”

“How about one about potions? It will show him you know about potions and you have listened in class all these years.” Hermione suggested.

Harry perked up. “That might actually work! Can you help please?”

Hermione smiled and slid a piece of paper across the table. “I may have written something all ready for you in case you wanted it.”

Harry took the paper and held Hermione's hands. “Thank you so much Hermione. You're the best. I was losing hope as Valentine's day is tomorrow. I was going to send an owl to the restaurant to cancel the table as it wasn't looking good.”

“You booked a table just in case?”

“Yeah! I didn't want him saying yes and then have me panicking as I couldn't get us anywhere this close to Valentine’s day.”

Severus dabbed the corners of his mouth after finishing his meal. He watched as Granger came in and talked to Harry before handing him a piece of paper. He wondered just what she thought he liked. Knowing her, she'd tell Harry to try and impress him with potions. He noticed Harry watching him as he stood up and he slowly made his way from the Great hall. Very much aware that Harry had stood and was now following him.

“Professor Snape?”

Severus smirked a little before stopping and turning around, watching as Harry came to a stop in front of him. “Mister Potter?”

Harry cleared his throat. “Some potions are Blue, others are Pink-”

“Yes and some are Green, Grey, White, Brown, Red, Yellow or even transparent. I'm glad to know after seven years of potions at least something has stuck in your mind. Good day Mister Potter.”

Hermione hurried out of the Great hall once she saw Professor Snape walk away. “Well?” she asked.

Harry glared. “Well what?” he snapped before storming away.

Ron groaned as he woke up and rubbed at his eyes and saw Harry already dressed and checking himself in the mirror. “You're up early. Let me get ready and we will all sit with you and work out how best you can ask him out.” He said as he threw the covers off himself.

“No.” Harry said as he turned to face his friend. We have tried poems and even poems related to potions which he loves. Do you know what he also likes?”

Ron swung his legs off the side of the bed and ran his hand through his hair. “What?” He yawned.

“Straight and to the point. No bullshitting or dancing around. So that's what I will do.” Harry answered as he opened the door. “See you at breakfast.”

Severus opened the door to leave his rooms and wasn't surprised to see Harry there. “Mister Potter?”

“Happy Valentine's day Severus. Would you go on a date with me tonight please. I have a table booked at that new restaurant that's just opened in Hogsmeade.”

Severus smirked. “Decided to forgo all your friends advice and poems and try your own ideas have you?”

Harry frowned. “You knew I was trying to woo you with a poem before asking you out?”

“Of course. I interrupted and walked away before you could ask as I wanted it to be all you, not them. I see you have now decided to do the direct approach and just ask me. The answer is yes Harry. What time?”

Harry laughed. “I will pick you up at six.” He said before inching forwards.

Severus smirked and moved his head back.

Harry stopped moving. “Kiss?”

“A kiss is where two people join lips or lips to cheek or lips to any other body part.”

“Can't I have one now?”

“Patience is a virtue. Let's see how our date goes shall we.” He said as he walked forwards a little and shut his door. “Good day Harry, see you at six sharp.”

Harry walked over to the Gryffindor table and sat down facing Ron.

“What's with the smile Harry?” Ron asked.

“Severus said yes to a date tonight.”

Hermione smiled. “That's great Harry, Ron said you were going to try the direct approach. We will help you with what to do.”

“No. No offense but Severus liked how I did it on my own. He seemed to know you were all helping me, that's why I didn't get anywhere, he was waiting for me to do it alone. So that's how I will be on the date tonight.”

Ron stood up and clapped Harry on the shoulder. “I'm pleased for you mate. I'll let Draco know as I told him to think of something else.” He said before walking away.

That evening, Severus opened his door to find Harry standing there holding a single rose.

Harry handed Severus the rose. “Happy Valentine's day Severus.”

“Happy Valentine's day Harry.” He replied as he took the flower. “A red rose. No blue violet?” He asked, making Harry laugh as he closed his door behind him.

The next morning, Hermione, Draco and Ron walked through the entrance hall to head to breakfast when they saw Harry walking up from the dungeons wearing the same clothes he had on the night before.

Draco smirked. “Date go well Harry?”

Harry gave a goofy smile. “What do you think?” He asked as he walked up to them all. “Lets get some breakfast. I'm famished.”

The end.
