It was close to the end of November, the first snow had already fell leaveing hogwarts as a soft white glazed land. Snape didn't overly mind winter as he was always smart enough to dress properly. Though he dose find himself Apprehending and finding more and more students trying to Makeout in random places of the school, as if as soon as the snow falls that teachers won't check for students doing inappropriate activities when its night fall. Dumbledore has even humorously stated how Snape is the best professor at stopping teenage pregnancy. Safe to say Severus didn't find the headmasters comment amusing.
Snape dipped his quill Into his ink before he Xs out students exams growing more and more confident that either his students are horrible listeners or he's getting too dull to teach potions anymore. He is taken from his thought, his slouched gradeing posture straightens up as he looks up to his classroom door, a loud knocking came from it.
"Enter." Severus said with his usual numb sounding voice. The door opened and a very tall man had to duck under the door frame. Hagrid stepped into shutting the door behind himself with one hand and the other held a small bundle of a Tattered gray purple blanket. "Good evening Professor." Hagrid said in his cheery gruff voice.
"What brings you into my class room, Hagrid. Your not one to just drop by for a meaningless... visit.." Severus asks cold but not spiteful though he did stop as his eyes landed on hagrids hand. "Oh right, um." Hagrid stepped closer to the Professors desk, "So um. I've already tried asking other Professor and anyone on ground I could find so this is um. Well a last resort." Hagrid ends with a sort of nervous smile. "Go, on." Snape says just as monotone as ever, snapes never been good at vocal tones even when he trys it always sounds like mocking so he's just stopped trying.
Hagrid shuffled forward before clearing his throat. "Would you take a kitten and look after it for a while." Snapes brows furrowed "What?.." He quietly exclaimed in confusion.
"You know, A kitten! I had a sick mama cat that gave birth a couple weeks ago...the poor girl passed away along with her other kittens, 'sept one. Need someone to take it. Or just care for it during winter." Hagrid explains as snape stares at him almost dumbfounded mixed with irritated. "Why don't you keep it?.." Severus asked.
"I've got many creatures to care for. Winter is harsh for all creatures. And not many people go out of there way to care for the more misunderstood beasts. Come now professor just look." Hagrid extended his hand out that held a small blanket, he pulled back some of the blanket letting a opening form. Inside a small kitten lay curled into a ball. "This Lil gal here wouldn't make it a day without someone to depend on." Hagrid explains still showing the feline.
To add insult to Snapes Metaphorical injury, the small kitten is not what he would like from a cat even if he were to want to take one in. The kitten is small, with mainly white and orange calco patterns. The kitten is a poof mess, a long hair cat no doubt.
"I Don't want it."
"Come on professor, just long enough so she can hunt and walk by herself." Hagrid insisted
"I Don't have the supplies-"
"I've got everything you'll need. Food and everythin'." Hagrid retorts soft covering the kitten back up. Severus is silently scowling stareing daggers into the giant.
"Fine.." Snape groans grundingly as he watched Hagrid light up. "Thank you Professor." Hagrid says extending the blanket with the kitten inside it out to the black haired man. Severus takes it irritated and awkwardly. Snape moved the cloth looking down to the kitten it's self half asleep curled up. Snape has to give Hagrid some credit because Severus was so caught up by Analyzing the cats Color palette, he didint hear or see Hagrid leave.
Severus looks up and around for a moment realizing the man left him with the kitten alone without any advice or anything else besides the cat and torn blanket. "Shit." He muttered to himself.
Snape had made his way from his office to his chambers deep underneath the castle. Hopeing to not run into Filtch as he did so. He was lucky cus as soon as he shut and loocked his door the kitten had woke from Snapes quick walking pase now meowing high pitched and loud.
Safe to say the headache the was now slowly picking away at his skull made him regret his choices. "Shh." He hushed harshly yet soft at the same time, though it did nothing to stop the small kittens whineing cry. Severus makes his way to his small kitchen like area.
The Professors who work at hogwarts all have rooms within the Castle that act like small flats with a small liveing room kitchen and a bedroom and bathroom, and specifically in snapes a extra room for potion brewing.
Snape held the meowing baby kitten within the blanket, the blanket felt heavier than Snape would have expected for a kitten of its size. Severus also realized that Hagrid hadn't told him the cats name if it even had one. Snape was never good at that, comeing up with names. Sames for spells and potions We're a different story but for a living creature his mind went and runs on blank.
The kitten since Snape had entered his chambers. Has not. Stopped. Crying. Severus was unsure what to do, it was loud and annoying and pitiful. Snape gently grabbed the calico lifting it from the blanket and gently setting it on his floor. He tossed the blanket aside but jumped harshly as it made a metal like sound, turning to it he saw multiple small cans roll out onto the floor.
Hagrid had stuffed the blanket with wet kitten food though it would have been great to know before throwing the blanket down. Snape knelt and grabbed a can and grabbed the kitten, holding it to his chest as it meowed-... as soon as the kitten was held to his chest it stopped its fit. Snape pulled the kitten away from his chest looking down at it but it began crying again, so it was re-pushed up to his chest.
Snape made his way to his kitchen counter putting the kitten food can down on it, reading the can. It says intended for kittens a few weeks old. The kitten he held to his chest had normal non folded ears and could open its eyes based on the green orbs that were stareing up at him.
Snape fed the small kitten with much struggle including cleaning the kittens face off afterwards. He made his way to his bedroom the kitten in hand. He quite bitterly sat on his bed, kicked his shoes of layed down with the kitten to his chest and covered them both with a blanket. The cat had started meowing again but now in the blankets it went quiet.
"Howler... your name is howler now." Severus said out loud to the kitten who was attempting now to sleep curled by his side. Severus let's his head fall back with a sigh against his pillow.
This was gonna be a very long time of haveing a kitten in his home.
