The Moon

Blonde hair haunted his mind as his body grew restless in the all too old chair. That voice was as ingrained in him as these dark and twisted walls. Heels clacked behind him, the grim reaper in disguise. Sirius whipped his head around to look at the woman who must have raised him, if not then no one did at all. He was right about the pants, the cold lighting in her office only sharpened her knife-like features and intricate accessories. Pointed pools of tar stared him into submission.

“Sirius, I have someone for you.”, the words sent ice through his veins as he felt the second set of eyes step to her left. Something small and pitying scattered across his scarred features. Oh how Sirius wished he had been wrong about that voice. What he wouldn’t give for his suspicions and senses to fail him, just this once.

“Lupin.”, was all the poor heir managed to say. A simple acknowledgment of the present situation. The Officer broke his gaze, opting to shift around and look at his feet. Sirius wanted to warn him, to teach him how to behave around Maman. She glanced at him and scowled but focused on Sirius as she stalked around him back to her side of the desk.

“Indeed, Officer Lupin has been so kindly helping us monitor you dear.”, the words cut like blades, he really had been right. Lupin stood behind him as he faced Maman. Sirius knew that he would be reprimanded for not focusing on her. He wanted to beg and plead with her to let the otherwise respected man go. He wouldn’t though. He knew better.

“I see you have nothing to say, Sirius. Wouldn’t you like to know what he is here for? Why he would be invited to such a private meeting?”, Sirius swallowed the desperation to ask. He knew better. He knew better. He knew-

“Why is he here Maman?”, he knew how to cave. Sirius had worked so hard to free himself. To not be her personal pet. To not be him.

Too bad. So fucking sad.

“Well it is obvious you need watching after all of your, shall we say, outbursts.”, Maman smiled that vampiric, blood sucking, deadly, smile, “And we all know I haven’t the time to watch over you, little heir. That is where Mr. Lupin comes in.”

No. No. No.

“He will be my personal watchdog for you Sirius. In layman’s terms, your new bodyguard.”

Perfect.

“But Maman! He’s a-“

Blood

Lupin had sprinted forward at the contact but Maman held him back with a warning hand. The blood trickled more freely now, traveling down his cheek before stopping. Sirius didn’t dare move, didn’t dare warrant another smack, or worse. Mumbled apologies spilled from his mouth. The poor officer was still standing at the ready.

“My decision is final Sirius, I have other matters to attend to. You will move in with him, he will move stations, and most importantly you will behave. Are we clear?”

“Yes Maman.”

He sighed when she finally strutted out of the room. Sirius collapsed in the chair he didn’t remember standing from. Dear God, how was he going to handle this? How would either of them?
