Chapter 1

Godric strolled up the hill. It was a bright summer's day and perfect magical-creature searching weather. That was what Rowena was doing on the other side of the hill as she slowly climbed, keeping a look-out for any creatures she might see. Helga lived in a village just inside the Welsh border where this particular hill was. Salazar was exploring in the nearby forest, searching for a good wand-wood tree. A dragon, a common welsh green, was sleeping peacefully in the warm sun on top of the hill. Godric saw it and, being the 'Dragon Whisperer' he was, tickled it to wake it up. The dragon definitely did not like this. So much, in fact, that it decided to send a burst of fire Godric's way. Rowena heard this and rushed to the top of the hill. "By Circe! What are you doing!?!"

"Taming a dragon!" Godric replied, dodging a flame.

"Well it doesn't look like it," Rowena said, "but if you think you can handle it–"

"I know I can."

"–Then I'll leave you  to it." Rowena finished, taking out a notebook to write about the dragon and sitting in the shade of a tree.

Salazar turned away from the bowtruckles, peering into the distance. He was fairly sure he had seen a spurt of fire. It could be the sleeping common welsh green he had seen earlier. If it was, then he should probably help whatever idiot disturbed it. Salazar did just that. When he apparated next to the dragon, he started firing spells at it at once. The wizard spotted a witch his age multi-tasking writing in a notebook and looking at the dragon intently. He called out to her "Oi! Are you going to help or not?"

"Not," was the reply, "the idiot who woke it up wants to tame it." This made Salazar pause for a moment. And then get hit by a ball of fire.

"Salazar!" Helga shouted after apparating to the scene. She had seen the fight with the dragon begin from her village and had rushed to help. Salazar was good friends with Helga, as they had often met each other in the forest. She was surprised somebody woke up the dragon, but Helga worried more for the dragon than the people who were stupid enough to fight it. And then her friend joined in. So she joined in as well, on the dragon's side of course. "Sal! Stop fighting!"

"Can't, sorry Helgs. I don't want this guy to become breakfast."

"It's two in the afternoon,' Rowena commented from under the tree.

"Lunch, then!" Salazar called irritably as he deflected a flame heading towards Godric. Helga sent spells Godric's way. She refused to harm him, or Salazar, so she use jinxes like the tickling charm or the stunning spell.

Rowena only put her notebook away when the tree above her was ignited. She decided it was probably time to intervene. Rowena shot a curse right between its eyes. The dragon stumbled a bit before falling onto the grass.

"Is it okay?" Helga asked worriedly.

"It's only unconscious. Aguamenti." Water shot from the tip of Rowena's wand and put out the blazing tree. There was a moment's silence. Godric began laughing so hard he had to hold onto Salazar to stay standing.

"That-was-amaz-ing!" he said in-between laughs. Salazar was chuckling softly.

"I'm Rowena, by the way," Rowena introduced herself. Why not? There are some things you can't share without ending up liking each other, and defeating a dragon is one of them.

"Helga."

"Godric. Godric Gryffindor," Godric said, holding out a hand. Helga shook it.

"Salazar."

"Sally!" Godric exclaimed. Salazar sent him a dark look.

"I don't think Sal likes that very much," Helga said. They lapses into a comfortable silence. Rowena pulled a book out of her satchel and began to read. Helga sat chatting to Salazar in the grass.

"Hey Ric?" Salazar asked, turning around.

"Yeah?" Godric replied from his sunbathing spot.

"Please, I beg you, never tickle a sleeping dragon."
