She was such an idiot… How long had it been since Jinx had left her here. The dank odor of water left stagnant no longer curling through her sinuses. The mold settling in her lungs instead. The light from the outer hall barely reaching her as she stared absently at the concrete wall in front of her. She glanced down at her hand stained red, locked in place by the shadows of the cell bars. She let out a strained chuckle. Always ready to fight. How had that worked out for her? The dull throbbing in her knuckles felt like nothing compared to the pain in her gut. The image of Jinx so… gone, was still burnt into her retina. She clenched her jaw, clutching with her hand at the place where her sister had punched her. The area burning. She heard a shuffle behind her and a shadow fell onto the cell wall. She knew that shadow.
“I had a feeling I might find you here.”
Caitlyn’s voice echoed as it passed through her. Each clank of the cell door opening tolled like a mourning bell, echoing off the walls of the empty bunker. From the corner of her eye she could see Caitlyn’s silhouette, framed by the door. Just like their first encounter.
She dragged her still fisted hand up against the wall above her, the rough concrete scraping against raw skin.
“I really believed she would help.”
Her voice came out as barely a whisper. She felt the weight of Caitlyn’s stare at her back. She knew what Cait was thinking.
“Say it. You told me so. I was stupid to trust her, I went behind your back.”
Maybe there was a good version of her out there. One that hadn’t abandoned her sister. One that had given her something better than this. She thought she could fix her sister, fix Jinx. But she knew her sister was gone, it’s just that her stupid heart said otherwise.
Maybe it was the yearning to fix something broken inside herself. She’d thought that by siding with Cait after her mothers death she could somehow quell the madness, the relentless rage that had been eating at her ever since she saw her own mothers body on that bridge, so long ago. Somehow make up for her inaction, her helplessness. But that was just another mistake. One, in a long line of bad decisions that started from the moment she lost faith in her sister and left her to play the hero. She punched the wall. But there was no conviction in her action.
“I choose wrong every time. And because of it…”
Her voice broke, tears welling in her eyes but refusing to break free. She didn’t have the right. Her bad decisions had cost her. Her sister, her family, and now Cait. Beautiful Cait, who just like her had been blinded by rage. But unlike her, had the strength to let go.
“...I’ve lost everyone.”
Her hands laced behind her neck. Adding to the weight that already sat on her shoulders. Caitlyn’s boots clacked against the concrete floor until they stood next to hers. Her hands tightened around the back of her neck. The hair trapped between her fingers pulled until it stung. She knew what would come next. She waited for the anger, hatred and hurt to spill from Cait’s mouth. She’d broken her trust, over and over again. She didn’t deserve her. She didn’t deserve Jinx. She pressed her head to the wall. There was no one in this world who could fix what she’d broken.
“Do you really think I needed all the guards at the Hex gates?”
The question Cait posed was like a slap in the face. Granted not an unwelcome one. It’s as if someone had just woken her up from a deep nightmare. Her eyes snapped open and she turned to see Cait leaning against the prison wall, her face bathed in warmth despite the harsh shadows cast from the bunker’s lighting. Vi hadn’t properly looked at her since they’d met again. She was even more beautiful than the first time she saw her, from behind the dank grimy bars of stillwater.
“Sorry to say. You’ve grown a bit predictable.”
Caitlyn’s voice was warm and full, not clipped and restrained like she’d expected. And a small smile graced her lips, the light dancing in her eyes. She realised in that moment that Cait knew she was going to free her sister. She knew she was going to try and release her despite the pain she caused to Cait and Piltover. She left Jinx so unguarded because she trusted Vi to do the right thing. Even if that meant letting her mother’s murderer go.
She had no words for the phenomena standing in front of her. In what world could she ever deserve such a miracle. But her hands moved of their own volition, grasping Caitlyn’s face and pulling her towards her. Her lips met Cait’s soft ones as she breathed in her warmth. She waited for Cait to gasp, push her away in disgust, tell her ‘I can’t.’ Who could blame her after everything she’d done. Instead she felt Cait humming against her, rolling into her as her arms circled behind Vi’s back, grasping for anchor. Caits mouth opened and Vi responded. Humming into her warmth, their tongues mingling, the taste like nothing she’d ever tasted before. Her eyes fluttered closed as they breathed together, their bodies becoming one as they revelled in each other's touch.
Vi’s hands felt the soft skin at the nape of Cait’s neck, felt how the loose stray hairs tickled her palms as she gripped her hair, eliciting a slight whimper from Cait. Wow, she wanted to hear that sound over and over again. Her mouth moved down leaving soft open mouthed kisses on Cait’s chin, her neck. Cait gasped in response, Vi could see how her eyes fluttered, how her pupils dilated as a result of her actions.
A part of her couldn’t believe that she was here. That she was the reason behind the soft sounds spilling from Caitlyn’s mouth and that Cait would let her kiss her this way. But she couldn’t help herself Caitlyn was like medicine. A soothing balm that calmed the twisting nerves and anger in the pit of her stomach, smoothing them out into waves of pure bliss and pleasure as she grasped onto Caitlyn, not wanting to let her go.
She wanted to go further, feel how her mouth felt on Cait’s chest, her stomach. But her coat was in the way. She wouldn’t lie, when she’d woken up from her injured state and saw Cait in the perfectly tailored navy and gold she almost forgot the anger and annoyance at hearing her sister had been arrested. The padded shoulders sat on her perfectly, broadening her whole upper chest. Accentuating her strength while also allowing her to maintain an air of grace and poise. The jacket cut off just at her waist, making it ever more prominent and giving her the illusion of even more height, even though she already towered over others. But the navy and gold had only made her angrier. It represented the divide between Piltover and Zaun that had led to endless destruction. The aristocracy that had left her sister and her family rotting in a cage. So she’d stormed out of Cait’s office, angry and hurt. Rushing to find her sister. She’d left her behind long enough.
Now, as they stood with their chest flush against each other, the cell echoing with their breaths of pleasure, Vi was able to appreciate the raw beauty hidden underneath the padding and finery. The gold laced cuffs and jewelled shoulders were simply accessories, used to hide Cait’s self within the image that she accepted of herself. Commander of Piltover, leader of the Golden city. Vi couldn’t help but clench her hands tighter around Cait as she realised the pressure Cait must feel. The guilt and self loathing at having brought more chaos to Piltover and Zaun in her frenzied quest for vengeance. Vi couldn’t help but want to protect Cait from all of it. Same way she had wanted to protect Powder and then Jinx from all the pain. She knew she couldn’t, that had never been possible and wasn’t possible with what lay ahead of them. But she knew that perhaps, even for this small moment she could alleviate that weight. Just as Cait had alleviated hers.
She shucked off the jacket, letting it drop to the floor behind Cait. Her hands began to follow the trail her mouth had left, pressing into the small blotches that had started to form. Cait whined in response and Vi leaned in to try and draw that sound from her again. But just as she was pressing her lips to Caitlyn’s again, she felt Cait’s hand draw hers away from her face. Caitlyn stumbled backwards, almost tripping on her jacket in the process. Her face was scrunched in anxiety and worry and Vi almost cursed herself for being stupid enough to believe Cait had actually been enjoying herself, when Cait blurted out,
“Listen, while you were gone… I saw someone.”
Vi had to stop herself from letting out a giggle as she watched Caitlyn’s face turn a shade of pink. But she silenced it as she saw her face laden with guilt. How could she feel wronged when less than 48hrs earlier she had been, in her sisters words, ‘passed out in the bottom of a mug’. Vi had her fair share of what could be considered harmful and complicated coping mechanisms. The fact that they were here now would probably add to that complication. Yet she entertained the idea that maybe Cait needed her as much as she needed Cait. And in that moment that was all she could think about.
“Cait” It came out breathless and desperate. “I don’t fucking care.”
And that was all that Vi could say before her body took over. She seized Caitlyn by the neck and they crashed in a mess of lips and tongue and shared breath.
Cait’s mouth opened against hers, the kiss deeper and full of something more than just surface level desire. They didn’t need to pull back to breathe as they drew breath from one another. Like twin stars, rotating on a shared gravity, grounding them in each other's orbit even as they plummeted through a dark vacuum. And Vi couldn’t help but be drawn to Cait. Like a moth to the flame.
Her skin burned with desire as Cait’s hands came up to cup her face. She smiled as she leant in to press her forehead to Cait’s. She looked up to find electric blue eyes smiling back at her, and Vi couldn’t help but hold onto her tighter, wanting to stay wrapped in the peace and security that she found in strong slender arms. Cait pushed her lightly, guiding her until she felt the cool stone of the cell wall at her back. She buried her face in Cait’s neck, muffling herself as she felt a pressure on her center. Caitlyn’s height made her stand on her toes just so she could press into her further. Her palms flexed against the plane of Cait’s back, taking time to roam from shoulder to hip. Vi wanted to know every part of Caitlyn. Not just her body but her mind and heart too. She wanted to treasure Cait in a way that no one else could. And somewhere inside her she felt something shift. As if, she too wanted to be treasured.
Her left hand settled below Caitlyn’s waist. Vi breathed in her warmth. She smelled like orchid, a mixture of citrus and vanilla and there was something else there, gunpowder undertones. How could someone embody both the sweetest and most violent of things? But maybe that’s why Vi loved her. Caitlyn’s ability to manipulate methodically and command others was chilling yet somehow she was never heavy handed or corrupt like enforcers Vi had encountered over the years. She was stubborn as hell but at the same time patient with those she cared about and paired with the vulnerability that she showed to Vi and Vi alone, it was enough to make her swallow with both desire and anticipation.
Somewhere in her mind she wondered if it was ok, to be touching and thinking of Cait like this. To find herself so disarmed and bare. She’d learnt from a young age that you couldn’t trust anyone. If you did, they’d leave you high and dry as soon as they got their fill. So she’d built a wall around her mind, you couldn’t be manipulated if they didn’t know you. How you thought, who you wanted to be. But now it was as if all those years, letting her fists do the talking had amounted to nothing. Cait melted everything away. Her hands were like hot irons even through Vi’s clothes as they travelled down Vi’s neck, chest, torso, abdomen, lighting her ablaze in every right way.
Cait’s hands left Vi’s waist, finding the hem of her own navy turtle neck before promptly pulling it up and over her head. Vi’s eyes widened, she was struck first by the unabashedness of Caitlyn’s actions and then by the sight of her bare chest. If Cait had looked good before in a turtle neck that covered most of her skin, she looked 100 times better now. Turtle necks were overrated anyway. Vi had to resist the urge to reach out and take Cait’s breasts in her hands. They looked so damn soft. She wondered how it would feel to lay on them, taste them. She was broken from her spell by a soft giggle. Vi looked up to see Cait’s face dressed with a small smirk and Vi proceeded to probably blush a colour close to that of her hair. Cait looked so beautiful, even the harsh cell light seemed to curve and soften as it hit her, as if she herself were an angel bending the light. A stray hair fell to her face from when she’d pulled off her shirt, she blew it away effortlessly. Always perfect. Maybe Vi could remove some of that perfection, replace it with something more.
After Jinx, Vi thought she was destined to always fuck everything up. She didn’t deserve Jinx, wasn’t a worthy sister for her. And she in no world could ever deserve Cait. But she was tired of telling herself she didn’t deserve this. All she wanted now was to melt into Cait’s arms as she broke through every wall Vi had built up.
Vi watched as if not in possession of her body as Cait reached forward, unclipping the button holding her shirt together. She watched as she let her slide the straps off her shoulders, her fingers leaving little trails of fire where they grazed her bare skin. Finally, her shirt dropped to the floor. She rolled her shoulders, incapable of feeling any shame at her body which compared to Caitlyn’s was subpar at best. Her constant self loathing was overruled by the look of hunger that flashed across Cait’s face. Cait dragged her eyes down Vi’s chest, her abs and muscles, finally landing on the stab wound that she received when… well when she lost the rest of her family. She saw how sadness and guilt plagued Caitlyn. She was so easy to read sometimes. She might have gotten better at remaining stoic during her time as a dictator but she’d always worn her heart on her sleeve.
Caitlyn's eyes were heavy as they fell on the wound. Her mouth drew into a thin line and her eyebrows furrowed in concern as she reached out, her hand hovering gently above it. A phantom touch, as if she felt responsible for the pain she’d caused Vi. Not just physical.
Vi couldn’t help herself anymore. She couldn’t let Cait blame herself for what had happened to her that day. She couldn’t take the blame for what had happened to her, her whole life. The universe just has a twisted sense of humour and clearly has fun fucking up her life. But she wasn’t about to let it fuck up the one good thing she had left.
Now it was her turn to be forward. She clasped Cait’s arm and pulled her in, this time their mouths didn’t clash, it was as if they fell perfectly into each other. Cait’s tongue flew into her mouth, their tongues in a dance as they swayed back and forth, each movement fuelled by a growing desire and desperation for each other’s touch. Cait’s hands landed at Vi’s waist, pulling her closer and Vi moaned into their breathless embrace. Her hand moved from Cait’s arm up her neck until it cupped her face perfectly. She could feel Cait pushing into the touch, her hand tracing the outline of her muscles. Drawing a line down her chest, to cup her breast, while her other hand coiled around to her back, holding her in place. As if she were desperate to savour every moment that their skin touched. She could feel Cait’s increasing heartbeat against her chest. It reverberated through every inch of her body and her own heart fluttered at the thought of how close their bodies were.
She could also feel how it also affected her lower body. She sensed the heat and wetness pooling in her core and from the way Cait was rolling into her and whining into their kiss Vi could be sure she was feeling the same. In one swift movement she flipped their positions. Cait’s back landed against the cool brick and Vi wasted no time. Moving down to the buckle of Cait’s pants she unbuckled them. Well attempted to. It was unnecessarily hard to get them undone and while the embarrassment in Vi grew it was broken by the sound of Cait giggling sweetly. She couldn’t help but laugh back and smile as their eyes met once more. Finally, the buckle came undone and Cait’s pants slipped down her legs to the floor.
Vi dragged her fingers down Cait’s centre, even through her underwear she could feel how wet she was. Cait moaned at the feeling and her hands grabbed at Vi’s back, searching for a hold. She smirked at the reaction, letting her fingers linger before removing them, earning a whine from Caitlyn that she wanted to hear more often. Her arms pulled Cait in as she rolled against her, her hips coming close enough to provide a minuscule amount of friction to Cait’s clit. Cait’s eyes closed and her head tilted back slightly as her mouth parted to release a small sigh. Vi couldn’t help but feel a little bit of pride at the fact that she was the reason Cait elicited such sweet, tempting noises. She moved again to Caitlyn’s neck, kissing and sucking on the sensitive skin, drawing out a new sound with each lick of her tongue and graze of her teeth. She felt Cait drag her fingers through her hair before gently tugging at the strands. She took that as a sign she had had enough teasing.
Vi’s mouth travelled down Cait’s body, leaving a trail of kisses in its wake. She thought that if she was going to be given the gift of loving Caitlyn then she should at least do it right. Her hand followed alongside her mouth. Her tongue briefly making contact with one of Cait’s nipples making her shudder at the new sensation. Vi could’ve spent hours just giving love and attention to Cait’s breast. The feeling of its softness in her mouth was intoxicating and the reaction she got from Cait left her feeling like she was on cloud nine. But today, right now, Vi had other plans.
She kept moving down. Her eyes flicking up to find Cait watching her as she travelled down her abdomen, her knees bending until she was kneeling in line with Cait’s core. Her right hand stayed up, cupping Cait’s breast as her left hand dragged down the underwear hiding her wet centre. For a split second Vi was frozen. Captivated by the beauty that she beheld, but Caitlyn’s breathy moans pulled her from her trance as she smirked at the wetness beginning to run down Cait’s thighs. She wasted no time, her tongue dragged down Cait’s centre and that was enough to elicit and shudder and a broken moan as Caitlyn lifted her head to the heavens and her hands splayed against the cool brick behind her. Vi continued to nip and lick, dragging her tongue across Cait’s clit before pushing into her. Cait doubled over, the pressure in her center building, her legs beginning to buckle. Her hands flew to Vi’s shoulder and hair grasping for anything to anchor her to this moment. Vi moaned as Cait pulled her hair and the resulting vibration shot through Cait bringing her that bit closer to the edge.
Vi enjoyed every moment of bringing Cait pleasure. She left no stone unturned, her tongue worked on Cait’s core, eliciting pants and moans that constantly tumbled from her mouth. Her right hand went from simply cupping her breast to squeezing it, Her fingers coming together to gently tug and pinch on her nipple, peaked from the constant stimulation. Cait threw her head back as her legs shook and her breathing quickened. Her pupils dilated as she finally let out a long soft moan that shook her from head to toe. Vi hummed contently as she slowed her pace, helping Cait ride through her high. Guiding her back down to earth from heaven.
Cait panted and sighed, releasing the grip she had on Vi’s hair, gently stroking where she’d been pulling from the pleasure. Vi leaned into the feeling, not wanting to let go of the overwhelming comfort that it brought her. She looked up to find Cait smiling down at her. Her face was dressed in something more than just the pleasure from sex. Her hand moved down from Vi’s hair to cup her cheek and Vi sighed softly and happily at being cradled by Cait’s hand. Her fingers caressed the skin behind Vi’s ear making her shiver and her thumb danced over her mouth.
"I love you Vi."
Vi’s eyes widened as the words hit her. She stared up at Cait, searching for something indicating that she’d misheard. That the words hadn’t just easily slipped from Cait’s lips, tumbling over her like a warm shower. Cait chuckled softly.
"What are you so surprised about? Thought I’d let you release Piltovers’ most wanted criminal if I didn't?"
Vi could feel the water welling in her eyes. Maybe…just this once…
"Cait…"
Vi stood back up. Her eyes met Caitlyn’s as a sob threatened to release itself from her throat.
"Yes Vi?"
Vi sniffled as a single tear broke free. She reached out to cup Cait’s cheek, her hand trembling as she smiled and a soft chuckle bubbled up.
"I love you too."
Maybe just this once she’d chosen right.
