He could tell that it was coming before the words left her mouth. The signs were already there. He knew that this small bubble of happiness they had built their lives inside would burst eventually, plummeting him into the lonely dark.
“I can’t do this anymore.”
Her face was twisted into a pained grimace as she magicked all of her things into her trunks. He knew this would happen, but it still hurt his heart all the same as the evidence of their life together unraveled as objects flowed into two trunks.
Pansy Parkinson’s self-preservation had finally kicked in.
Neville fought back tears as the ring box in the pocket of his trousers fought her summoning charm.
