Chapter 3
Ambition: Chapter Three
Welcome Back
Today is the day that everyone comes back from Christmas break, thank God. You didn’t want to spend another day here by yourself. This meant Cedric, and a lot of other random people, were coming back to Hogwarts. You couldn’t be happier. You got to see your best friend, you almost surely nothing could ruin this day.
But of course, Draco Malfoy had to come over. Legally he’s your second cousin, and of course, his parents told him the truth about you not being a Potter.
“What do you want Malfoy?” You snapped at him
“What? Can a man not say ‘Hi’ to his favorite cousin”
“Correction, boy. You are nowhere near the maturity of a man, Malfoy. Living off your daddy’s money.”
“Fair enough. But did you really have to get sorted into Hufflepuff? My parents are already thinking about not considering you family anymore.”
“Well, that’s their problem, not mine. And right now, you know I’m going by Potter, not Black, so keep your mouth shut.”
Of course, Draco probably secretly agreed with his parents, but he’d never say anything, anything to you that is. You were anyone else, he’s been gossiping about how his parents tell him what’s right and how he believes it.
You pushed that all out of your mind, and waited for the train to arrive, to drop everyone else back off at Hogwarts again. While waiting for, what seemed like forever, your eyes drifted off to the forest. Which made you remember the dog you saw in the woods weeks prior, but of course, like the person you are, you forgot. All you wanted to do was see Cedric again. You were alone for too long since he’d left for break.
The train, luckily, was in eyesight now. Meaning at any moment, you’d see Cedric come out of the train. This was the first time you were actually looking….forward to seeing somebody, you’d never missed somebody in your life like how you missed Cedric, and that was kind of sad in a way. You never had the chance to miss someone like that.
You watched the train with excitement, having barely any patience at all. The train continued coming closer, but it felt like an eternity to you. The train had finally hit the station and you just watched all the other students get out of the train, while you waited for your best friend. Your heart raced as you waited; at one point it was even annoying because it felt like you were waiting so long.
Finally, you saw the one person you were waiting for, and you thought curiously to yourself if he was looking for you too. You pushed those thoughts away from your head and just waited near the back of the line for Cedric, because there were too many people to push through to get to him. When he eventually looked over you waved to him, and surprisingly he saw you and waved back. To your surprise he started making his way over to you, and it was only a shock because it was the first time somebody was actually looking for you and it made you feel a little more important to somebody at least.
He had to slowly make his way over to you, as the crowded platform limits his speed and pacing, just as it did for you. When he finally makes his way over to you, he drops his luggage and envelopes you in a hug.
“How was your break?”
Cedric asks
“As fine as it would get.”
“I’m going to assume that’s good. Why didn’t you go home for Christmas?! I would’ve happily taken you home with me!”
“You don’t know me that well, Cedric. Actually, there’s a lot you don’t know.”
“Well, are you going to tell me or just leave me in suspense!”
You smirk.
“Suspense sounds like a great option.”
A few weeks after winter break ends, classes resume, and you listen to Cedric talk all about his vacation, and you talk about yours, yet it’s boring, he seems interested, which you assume he’s acting to be interested to be a good friend.
