“No, for the last bloody time,” Regulus says annoyed. Regulus is not like his brother in anyway. He’s not loud, he’s not very social, and he CERTAINLY doesn’t want to be the center of attention. So why is it that he finds himself in the dorm room of Hogwarts very own group of attention seekers. The Marauders dorm room with his egoist brother.
“Come on Reg! It won’t be so bad, Don’t you trust my amazing makeup skills?” Sirius questions his younger brother with a look of mischief.
“Please, you would mess up my face! Not even Madame Pomfrey could fix it,” Regulus rolls his eyes, clearly annoyed with his sibling.
“With just a brush and some eye shadow?” Sirius throws his arms up dramatically, A look on his face like Regulus has just stabbed him in the heart.
“If your hands were on it then yes, if your involved there’s a way for it to go wrong” Regulus stands up from the bean bag chair he had been sitting on. In the slytherin dorms this much decoration isn’t common. The decor definitely does make it feel warmer…Weirdly warmer then the colder vibe of the dungeons.
Sirius runs and skids to a halt in front of the door.
“Once! Just once then I’ll leave you alone about it!” Sirius almost shouts at the boy. Regulus sighs as the older Gryphondor now blocks his path out of the room.
“Can I finally leave if I let you do this?” Regulus drags a hand down his very tired face.
“Yes! Yes, I absolutely will!” Sirius exclaims, his eyes lighting up like stars. Regulus knows damn well that’s a lie but he’s tired and desperate to go back to his own dorm after being forced to hang out with Sirius as “Family bonding” or something stupid.
“Fine then..But make it quick before I change my mind and leave.” Regulus mutters as Sirius rushes and topples the boy over with a hug.
“Thank you so much Reg! I need someone to practice on for the Yule ball,” Sirius smiles so brightly it looks like his face is gonna explode.
“Why the Yule ball? That’s not til December and it’s only October” Regulus questions. Sirius sighs and keeps and arm around Regulus’s shoulder.
“Oh my dear baby brother, you just don’t get my genius brain” Sirius pushes Regulus down to sit on his bed as he sprints to the bathroom.
“Genius isn’t the word I’d use for it…” Regulus mutters as he crosses his arms. Only a mere minute later Sirius comes out with two small bags. Ones a dark blue with moons on it and the other is a deep green one, almost the color of Regulus’s tie. As most of the boys stuff is that same green color because their mother was planning on both of them being in Slytherin. A plan only Regulus accomplished.
“Regulus Arcturus Black, get ready to look the best you ever have in your whole life!” Sirius’s face shows confidence, the way he held his chin high as he searched through the bags. The same old arrogance he always has and the same arrogance Regulus pretends to have.
“Just don’t make me look like a clown will you?” Regulus shutters slightly at the idea of his brother horrid makeup skills.
“I will not you git! Now look up, I’m covering your eye bags” Sirius says as he grabs a very light shade of a paste looking thing. Clearly muggle makeup. The cold makeup goes onto my under eyes, it’s a gross feeling.
“Ew! Why’s it feel like that?” Regulus complains as Sirius brings a black smooth sponge and aggressively taps the spot with makeup on it.
“It’s just concealer so it looks like you actually sleep, Now look up before I poke you in the eye” Sirius rolls his eyes as he continues to hit the product into my face.
“Don’t you dare mess up my eyes Sirius, I will cure you” Regulus would death glare him but currently he’s looking up so Sirius avoids hitting his eyes. Finally the sponge gets put away and replaced with a different looking sponge, a flatter one and a light powder.
“Why do you have so many sponges?” Regulus questions as he finally looks back at Siri’s just to get the powder shoved back under his eye, The powder spilling on his robe.
“Because beauty takes many tools! Merlin be patient!” Sirius laughs as the powder finally sets into the younger boys face.
“This ‘beauty’ feels gross…” Regulus counters as the softer sponge is removed from his eyes. Sirius rummages through the blue bag and pulls out a small brush and a palette of eyeshadow.
“Suck it up Reggie! Suck. It. Up!” Sirius smirks as he start to go to the outer corner of Regulus’s eye with the brush.
“Hey! Your gonna poke my eye out!” Regulus shouts.
“Then close your eyes so I can do my work!” Sirius pushes Regulus’s eyes closed as he starts to apply the colored powder.
“Ow! It feels like your gonna stab through my eyelids,” Regulus sneers at his brother as the other Black laughs.
“Your so dramatic sometimes Reg,” Sirius says as he continues to layer the stuff on his eyelids.
“I KNOW your not talking about dramatic when your a drama queen about everything.” Regulus mutters with a slight scoff.
“Drama king, actually” Sirius chuckles before a cold liquid hits his eyelid by his eye lashes.
“Sirius, what is cold and wet in my eye..?” Regulus asks in a dangerous tone. Regulus pulls his face back a bit before Sirius groans and pulls Regulus back by his robe, keeping him there by holding the younger boys chin.
“It’s just eye liner! Calm down and keep your eyes closed!” Sirius continues with the eye liner and eyeshadow on his lower lashes as well. Sirius is explaining everything to Regulus, basically giving him a tutorial.
“Ok last touches! Blush and Highlighter” Sirius smiles as Regulus opens his eyes finally after what felt like forever. It put Regulus slightly on edge to not be able to see his surroundings, thankfully it was over now.
Sirius takes out a reddish pink powder and a fluffy brush, he coats the brush in the powder and then slaps it on Regulus’s face, almost everywhere, puffs of pink falling everywhere.
“Could you do this without suffocating me?” Regulus coughs out as Sirius laughs and finishes.
“Shut it, highlighting next!” Sirius muses as he takes a finger and dips it slightly into a silver sparkling liquid then blends it into the tip of Regulus’s nose and his cheek bones.
“Why does all makeup feel so cold and gross..” Regulus complains.
“Your room is in the dungeon, you live in the wet and coldness,” Sirius deadpans.
“The draft isn’t too bad!” Regulus exclaims.
“Yeah yeah whatever, we’re doing lip stick now,” Sirius says taking out a dark red and black lipstick from the green bag this time.
“What? I thought you said we were done?” Regulus asks, any hope of him ever leaving fleeing from him.
“I changed my mind, now pucker up* Sirius shrugs as he grips the younger boys chin, stopping his from moving back as he applies the black lipstick to the outline of Regulus’s lips then the inside the dark red.
“Well my master piece, I have outdone myself with this! Take a look in the mirror Reg!” Sirius says stepping back to look at the final scene. Regulus stands up and walks to the bathroom mirror, examining his face. The black eyeshadow and eye liner making his eyes look tired but in a good way, his face looking slightly more outstanding then usual. Regulus is amazed as he walks back to Sirius.
“Uhm…It’s not horrible” Regulus stutters. Giving compliments is not something the Black brothers do. They never have even when they were in the best of terms.
“Yeah, I know,” Sirius chuckles as Regulus smiles and bit as well. Suddenly, interrupting the brothers small but sweet moment was the dorm room door swinging wide open. Regulus and Sirius look to the door seeing a laughing Petigrew, a smiling Lupin, and a shocked Potter.
“Hey guys! Welcome back from your walk, and look at what Reggie finally let me do!” Sirius grips Regulus’s shoulders before he can react to the newcomers in the door way. Sirius shoves Regulus in front of him, showing off his hard work to the other Gryffindor boys.
“Looks great pads,” Lupin says calmly with a reassuring smile before he walks in and sits on a bed, his probably.
“Yeah! It looks so cool!” Petigrew agrees as he also walks in. James potter is now the only boy standing and staring at Regulus. A light pink dusts James cheeks.
“Regulus, will you go to the Yule ball with me?” James blurts out.
“WHAT?!” The other four boys all say at the same time. Regulus with disbelief and slight curiosity. Lupin snapping his gaze away from his book and sounds very confused. Petigrew sounds concerned but Sirius looked like he was ready to hit his best friend.
