Harry Potter knelt down and sighed as he placed his hand on the ground and pushed down, feeling the ground all cushioned. “Right. That's nice and soft.” He said as he looked up at his husband approaching with their five year old daughter. “All ready?” he asked.
Severus nodded. “I have our protective charms on her. If she falls even on cushioned ground she can not hurt herself and there is a seat on the broomstick.
Harry nodded. “How about a helmet?”
Five year Abigail frowned. “Daddy no.”
Harry crouched down and ran his hands through her long black hair that went down her back and stared into her dark eyes that showed she wasn't going to wear a helmet. “You are not supposed to have the same look as your father yet. You are only five.”
“I've been practicing, I have seen you give in daddy when father looks at you like that.”
Harry stood up and faced a smirking Severus as he pointed at his daughter. “See what you have done?”
“You mean, taught her well?”
“Let's just get her on her first broomstick to have her first ride.” Harry said as he held the broomstick steady as Severus picked their daughter up and sat her on the seat.
“Right then my darling girl, the height you are now is the highest you will go. Your dad and I have sorted it so even if you fall, you will not be hurt. Just enjoy yourself going around the course we laid out for you.” Severus said.
“And remember, first time on a broom, it might be a bit wobbly and bumpy but just hold tight. We are here just in case.” Harry added.
Abigail nodded and as soon as her parents let go, the broom took off slowly, she wobbled a bit to try and balance and then started to laugh and squeal.
Harry gasped. “She squealed!” he said as he picked his own broom up only to have it taken off him by his husband.
“Squeal of delight. Listen to her laughing. She's fine. She is our daughter. There will be nothing she can't do.”
Harry nodded. “You're right. Of course.” He said and walked forwards a little and watched as Abigail flew closer and closer. Harry held his hand out and watched as the broom slowed down, eventually coming to a stop in front of him.
“Daddy I flew!” Abigail squealed as Harry took her off the broom and crouched down to righten her clothing.
Severus chuckled. “That you did. How did you feel with you being a bit wobbly at the start?”
“It was fine papa. I got used to it when I flew to Uncle Bill!”
Severus frowned and crouched down. “You have flown to your Uncle Bill before?”
“Yes. From Auntie Ginny to Uncle Bill and it's fun!”
Harry shot to his feet quickly along with Severus and placed his hands on his husbands shoulders. “Believe me I feel the same as we are not the first witnesses to our daughter flying but we can't do anything with a certain audience who picks up every little detail as her eyes miss nothing.” he whispered.
Severus inhaled deeply, calming himself before he slowly nodded. “Alright. But I want Bill here. Now.”
“I will write to him and ask him where he is and-” Harry stopped and sighed when Severus disappeared right in front of him. He looked over his shoulder at his daughter when he heard her giggle.
“Papa went to see Uncle Bill.”
Bill had sat back and sighed. Today was one of the reasons he hated working as a curse breaker for Gringotts. He couldn't check all the Galleons for a dark curse. Oh no. The Goblins wanted them checked one by one. He looked down and saw a coin by his foot. Picking it up, he checked it for all curses and satisfied it had none, he placed it on to the pile just as a crack sounded at the side of him, making him jump and knock the pile over. “No!” he turned to snap at whoever made him jump and stopped when he saw a furious looking Severus standing there.
“Severus! Look what you did.”
“I couldn't give a fuck. You are coming with me.”
Harry jumped when Severus appeared with Bill. “How did you find him so quickly?”
“I knew he'd be at the bank.”
Harry blinked. “You can't just apparate into Gringotts!”
“I just did. Let the Goblins moan at me. I don't care.” Severus fisted Bill's top. “There's only one thing I care about. Why are Harry and I not the first to witness our daughter fly a broom?”
Bill tried to free his top. “How should I know?”
Harry stepped forwards and freed Bill. “Our daughter has told us she flies from Ginny to you.”
Bill frowned. “She did?” he asked before his eyes went wide. “Oh I know what she means. It's best if we all show you.”
It was now Harry's turn to frown. “Who is we?”
Bill waved his wand and cast his patronus. Telling it to go to each of his siblings and to drop everything and get to Harry and Severus’ straight away.
Bill cleared his throat. “You know they will probably panic and think something is wrong with having to come here and drop everything but Severus’ face I darent do any other.”
“Uncle Bill!” Abigail squealed as she came running from the house.
Bill laughed and quickly picked her up and held her close.
“Cowardly tactic and it won't work. “ Severus warned just as apparation sounds could be heard and one by one, all the Weasley children had arrived.
Abigail beamed. “Are we flying again?”
Bill cleared his throat. “Only to show your dad and papa what you meant by flying with us.” He said before looking at his siblings. “Right then. Today was Abigail's first time on a broom and because she has stated she has already flown. You can understand why Severus and Harry don't look happy because as parents they should be there for the first fly.”
Charlie nodded. “Of course.”
Percy stepped forwards. “Wait a moment. Severus and Harry think we have witnessed their daughter flying before them?” When Bill nodded, Percy shook his head. “No no. We will show you. Brothers and sister. Line up from youngest to oldest.” He ordered.
The Weasley siblings stood in a line only a few feet apart and Ginny clapped her hands before holding her arms out. “Ready trouble?”
Abigail laughed and ran over to Ginny who scooped her up and held her bridal style.
Bill looked at Harry and Severus. “We know you have been talking about Abigail having her first time on a broomstick soon and we know the first time can be nervous and that can get worse as the first time can also be bumpy. So we introduced her to the Weasley tradition. Our parents and uncles and aunties did this with us.” He explained before looking down the line at his sister. “Whenever you're ready Gin.”
Ginny nodded. “Ready?”
Abigail giggled. “Ready.”
Harry and Severus stood and watched as their daughter was chucked in the air by Ginny to be caught by Ron who then in turn chucked Abigail to Fred and then to George. Abigail squealed with laughter as she was thrown from sibling to sibling until Bill caught her and spun her before placing her on her feet.
Harry blinked before looking at his husband. “How am I not holding you back right now?”
“I have a lot of patience. Chucking my daughter in the air, risking dropping her… I can wait.” Severus murmured before walking over to his daughter and picking her up. “Did you enjoy that my baby girl?”
“I did.”
Bill stepped forwards. “I know I am risking a lot by asking this…. Are you not mad or wanting to get your own back?”
Severus frowned. “Why? My daughter enjoyed herself and she wasn't harmed. That's all that mattered.”
When the Weasley siblings sighed with relief, Severus turned to face Harry and smirked.
It was the following Sunday when they all met up at the Burrow for the monthly meal and catch up. They had all eaten and exchanged stories of what they had been up to and after dinner, everyone had made their way outside. The Weasley siblings decided to play a friendly game of quidditch. Percy declared to be ref, letting his other siblings decide who will be against who.
Everyone else had decided to sit and watch and cheer on. Abigail sat on Harry's knee, squealing and clapping whenever someone scored.
After twenty minutes into the game, everyone started losing control of their brooms. Harry sat forwards, “what's happening? It's like how mine was in my first year, they've lost control of their brooms.”
Harry stood up and held Abigail on his hip as Molly and Arthur got to their feet and hurried forwards.
Harry gasped and watched as all the Weasley siblings lost the final bit of control and all fell off their brooms. He turned to look at Severus who came to stand at side of him. “Severus. Why do you look calm?”
Harry looked quickly to the siblings and back to Severus. “Severus, the ground isn't cushioned!”
Severus sighed. “Very well.” He took his wand out. “Arresto momentum.”
All the Weasley siblings slowed down and came to a stop inches from the ground before dropping and landed with a thud.
Bill was the first one to stand and brushed himself down. “What happened?” He asked as he watched his siblings stand up and brush themselves down.
Abigail giggled. “Father did to you what you do to me.”
Ron blinked. “Why?”
Molly stepped forwards. “You not only played throw and catch with a five year old girl, you did it with Severus’ daughter and in front of him! I'm just surprised none of you have broken bones.”
Fred looked at his mum. "You knew what Severus was going to do?"
Molly nodded. "Of course. Severus told me what he was going to do. He actually asked permisson."
George gaped. "And you agreed? We are your children."
"Severus told me what he was going to do and explained that you were never in any danger." Molly explained.
Ron frowned. “We were just helping and preparing her. It's how all of us learned.” he tried to explain.
“Yes.” Severus drawled. “I taught all of you, it explains it all now. I knew at some point all of you had to have been dropped on your heads.”
Ron looked across at Harry who shook his head.
“Don't look at me to take your side. I'm with my husband on this one.” Harry said, making Severus smirk.
The end.
