Leaving The Dursleys
When the window closed and Harry heard Aunt Petunia moving in the kitchen he looked around his cupboard. He didn't miss it once he was given Dudley's second bedroom but he did miss the feeling of safety it gave him. Uncle Vernon couldn't reach him inside the cupboard and his Aunt hated spiders so she never came in. Dudley wasn't allowed.
Spotting a little green soldier, he remembered when he swiped it from the trash, its gun was gone and was missing an arm but Harry still used to play with it. Beside it was a single pink crayon. Dudley not wanting threw it out. Harry took it and used the pink crayon to write 'Boys Room' on the wall, which was later crossed out and replaced with 'Harry'.
Now Harry wasn't even sure if he could still go by that name. It wasn't the name his parents gave him but one Dumbledore used, whether he knew what his real name was or not, Harry didn't know. Didn't know if he should use his real name. Didn't know if he could.
Looking back at the little army man and crayon he debated taking them with him but he couldn't think of a single happy memory associated with them. Shaking his head he looks away deciding that they belonged here, not with him.
Looking around he dismissed the cleaning products, Dudley's castoffs and focused on his backpack. It was an old ratty thing that Aunt Petunia found in a second-hand shop. Inside were his 4th-grade workbooks.
Pulling the bag closer to him he pulled out the books. He forgot how colourful kid's workbooks were. Even though they were second hand they still held most of their colour.
Looking through them he put them in his inventory, seeing if they were worth anything.

Harry closes the window, sighing. He couldn't put off leaving his cupboard any longer without Aunt Petunia shrieking about being lazy.
Getting up he opens his cupboard door and leaves, looking back for a second before closing the door on his ratty mattress and blanket. Hoping it will be the last time he ever sees it.
"Start the breakfast you ungrateful freak!" Aunt Petunia's shrill voice calls out as he walks into the kitchen. He cringes, forgotten how horrible her voice was. Thankfully she didn't see otherwise he probably would have gotten a frying pan to the back of the head.

☐ Don't Burn Anything

Honestly, Harry didn't know what else to do... It was summer holidays so Dudley would probably be leaving to visit his gang after breakfast, Uncle Vernon should be going to work soon and Aunt Petunia usually goes somewhere during the day, either to gossip with neighbours or shopping.
Dismissing the window, Harry collects the ingredients to start breakfast. Putting them on the counter he comes into a problem... he's too short. Instinctively he looks to the corner, an old stepping stool that used to belong to Dudley is there. Harry sneers at the stool, he hated being so short. With a clenched jaw, he heads over and picks it up.
It doesn't take him long to cook the breakfast, years of making food for the Dursleys had made him quite good at cooking and baking. When he's done he wants to put it in his inventory to check it out but since Aunt Petunia is watching him like a hawk he can't.

[Observation successful!]
Observe! How could he forget? Well, he remembers it now, he just hopes he doesn't forget it in the future.
Harry places the plates on the table and stands with his back to the wall beside the pantry, it's the furthest from the kitchen table he can get while still being in the room. Merlin, I forgot how horrible this was... Harry thinks as his Aunt calls Uncle Vernon and Dudley down for breakfast.
Harry stares at the kitchen sink as Aunt Petunia, Uncle Vernon and Dudley sit down as a family, ignoring his presence. Harry's stomach grumbles as he hears them eating but they pay him no mind. Harry knows his only chance of getting any food is Aunt Petunia, she's the only one who won't scoff everything in sight.
"That was lovely Pet" Uncle Vernon praises Aunt Petunia. Harry stopped caring a long time ago, but he still has to clench his jaw closed not to say anything. Ten-year-old Harry was too scared to say anything, he still thought his family would love him.
"Clean up this mess boy" Uncle Vernon demands as he leaves the kitchen. Harry even though he hasn't done this in over a year remembers the drill. He clears the table, expertly missing Dudley's foot as he heads to the sink.
He quickly shoves the half-eaten pancake in his mouth chewing as fast as he can. Dudley didn't finish all his orange juice so Harry actually gets a drink too.
Cleaning the kitchen resulted in a strange reward.

"Out to the garden Freak! You will finish all your chores or no dinner for you!" Aunt Petunia screeched as she grabbed him by the arm, dragging him to the back door and shoving him out. Aunt Petunia handed him a list, slammed the door, and locked it.
Harry looked at the list, snorting. He wasn't planning on doing any of it.
- Mow the back and Front Lawn
- Weed all the plants
- Water all the plants
- Trim the bushes
- Clean the tools
- Wash all the windows
- Replace the petrol
Harry was surprised when £20 fell out of the list, pocketing it he scrunched up the list and threw it at the door. The small sound it makes isn't very satisfying.
Looking back at the garden he can admit that he will miss it. He didn't love plants as much as Neville but this was his garden. His blood, sweat and tears were used to build it from the ground up and it won the Best Garden award every year.
I wonder... Observe... Harry thought looking at the red rose bush.

Harry is slightly surprised at how much all the flowers can be sold for he, though he has no intention of selling them. They were his life's work, he lost them last time. He won't this time.
Closing the window he looks around at the now empty garden. He smiles, imagining what Aunt Petunia's reaction will be. As amusing as that would be, he isn't sticking around for it.
Leaving the Dursleys was easier than expected. Harry didn't wonder too much at this age so he was pretty sure Mrs. Figg wasn't watching him. Add to the fact he doesn't see any strange people walking around, wizards and witches were not good at blending in.
He goes down the street until he sees no houses only forest, making sure nobody is around he holds up his pointer finger hoping for the knight bus... after a minute of his hand in the air, he drops it. Embarrassed he can feel the tips of his ears warming.
How was he supposed to call the knight bus? Looking around he picks up a short sturdy stick. Repeating the same action sadly resulted in the same failure. His ears almost feel too warm now.
Throwing the stick behind him he closes his eyes and wishes really hard for the knight bus. His eyes open wide when he hears the familiar honking. A purple three-decker bus was slowly coming to a stop.
"Welcome to the knight bus, emergency transport for the stranded witch or wizard. My name is Erick Codde, I will be your conductor for this evening" a rather old man stated with a smile, he was dressed in a brown robe, his grey hair covered with an old-style flat cap. Above his head were floating words.
Erick Codde
Wizard| Level: 36| (0/0)
Mr Codde's smile soon turned to a frown when he looked around and didn't see anyone else.
"Are you on your own laddie?" Mr Codde asked. Harry winced but nodded.
Mr Codde's frown got deeper but he sighed and started doing something with a strange device that he remembered Stan used to give him a ticket.
"Tickets are eleven sickles" Mr Codde said looking at him expectantly. Harry blanched for a second before getting an idea.
Reaching into his pocket he thought of taking eleven sickles out of his inventory. He nearly gasped when he felt the coins appear in his hand falling into his pocket when he couldn't hold them all. Mr Codde didn't notice as he was doing his ticket.
"Here you go Mr Codde" Harry said pulling a handful of coins out of his pocket and handing them to Mr Codde, reaching back in to get the rest. Mr Codde didn't say anything but he did raise an eyebrow.
Harry tried not to fidget as Mr Codde stared at him. Just as he was about to say something, what he had no idea. Mr Codde gave him his ticket, and guided him to a comfy-looking armchair.
"Would you like anything?" Mr Codde asks, Harry shakes his head. There is no way he would get something to drink or eat on a knight bus. Mr Codde nods and heads to the driver, a different man than the one he meets in the future... his past..?
"Another for the Leaky" Mr Codde says before he starts walking up the stairs. Harry assumes its to check on other passengers, but he doesn't think about much else as he desperately holds on the the armrest of his chair. His knuckles are already turning white when he hears a loud bang, gasping as he gets flung from his seat.
After what feels like an eternity later but was probably only ten minutes, the knight bus arrives at the leaky cauldron. Harry staggers to his feet, his legs feeling like jelly and his head spinning.
"You alright there laddie?" Mr Codde asks, a crease between his brows suggesting he was worried. That or he was still dizzy.
"Ye—e—eah" Harry stutters as he slowly walks to the exit. A witch passing him snorted, whether it was his ability to walk in a straight line, his clothes or both he didn't know and honestly, he didn't care. He was far too vulnerable to care about what an old witch had to say.
Getting off the bus took a few minutes but Mr. Codde was patient and walked behind him in case he fell.
"Take care laddie" Mr. Codde says as he heads back into the bus. A few seconds later it disappears with a loud bang.
Looking around Harry noticed that he was literally outside the Leaky. Taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly he made his way inside. Harry watched as everyone looked to him but dismissed him and gone back to talking. It was the first time it happened and Harry found it both weird and exhilarating.
He was never able to explore the alley without whispers and questions following him. It got worse as he got older. He also never got to explore alone, someone was always with him, rushing him to finish.
They alley had so much that he wanted to experience and he was going to use his second chance to do what he wanted but first, he had to try to get some of his money.
