The Avatar of Death
Summary
"Pain. Pain and misery and destruction shall be your fate, chosen one, less you leave this land forever and find your true home. This world is not made for one such as you - yet for you to remain will splinter reality and tear apart the seams of existence. Leave in peace and find hope, Avatar of Death, Champion of Magick, Vala of Balance. But remember my warning: Beware the Eternal Light as much as the Cruel Dark - neither can be trusted until thy true self is known. Until that day, shun them both - upon that day, reveal thy status and fulfill thy purpose. Between Dark and Light, Death and Life, Day and Night, Magick and Null, War and Peace, Hope and Despair, Victory and Loss, you shall reside. You are the one who protects the divide."
Note
Hey guys. So. This is kinda weird for me. It is inspired a lot by various other fics, but the bad thing is I can’t figure out what parts are inspired by what, and even what fics I got inspiration from. Mainly because I came up with this in a dream, and as I happen to read a lot of crossovers like this one, that… kinda made it hard to pin down sources. So. I am going to try and list my inspirations but if I miss you I apologize, very very sorry, shoot me a comment and I’ll fix it asap.So. Second thing. I've read The Hobbit and the LOTR. And I've read a butt-ton of fanfics, and done some hasty researching. But I haven't seen the movies (though I want to), or read any of the other Tolkien books related. So, that means I will be very spotty in my knowledge. If I screw up, please don’t flame me just let me know and I will try and fix it. Cool?

Chapter 1 - The Deathless

Amaryllis Lillith Potter, Lady of the Most Ancient and Imperial Houses of Peverell and Emrys, Lady of the Most Ancient and Most Noble Houses of Slytherin and Gryffindor, Lady of the Most Ancient and Noble Houses of Potter and Black, and Lady of the Ancient and Noble House of Gaunt - was not happy. She had learned that those she had once trusted with her entire being, were dirty, disgusting, thieving, lying, betraying, traitors

How she learned this, of course, was when she went to Gringott’s to make reparations for the whole ‘breaking in, illegally entering a vault, Imperiusing several Gringott’s employees, stealing a major artifact, and let’s not forget breaking out of the bank on the back of a dragon’ incident.  While Amaryllis knew it was a desperate situation, she still felt bad for causing so much trouble; despite Hermione and Ron trying to dissuade her, she went to Gringott’s to apologize (after doing some serious research into goblin customs).

Upon approaching the bank, Amaryllis bowed to each goblin standing guard and, using one of the formal greetings she had read about, said “May your enemies’ blood flow and your vaults be filled with gold.”

As soon as she rose from her bow, she saw quite a bit of shock on both goblin’s faces, which she was somewhat confused at - though she hadn’t seen anyone do it before, it was war-time or well, with Hagrid, so she figured it was something most wix did. Entering the bank, she immediately went to one of the open booths and repeated the greeting. Rising again from the bow, she was almost… scared, at how confused and shocked the goblin looked. Had she offended them somehow? Once the goblin had composed themself, they asked what her business was.

“I am here to discuss reparations to Gringott’s bank for the… incident, that I and two friends of mine caused, a few months ago. The one with the dragon?” she explained, dropping her voice at the end so as not to be overheard. The goblin asked for her name and key, and she blushed a bit. “Um. Amaryllis Lillith Potter. And… I don’t have my key… I didn’t know I would need it, and I actually don’t know where it is… last I knew Molly Weasley had it..” Trailing off in embarrassment, she lifted her head to see the goblin’s face go from confusion, shock, irritation, and then to extreme anger. Shocked, she goes over her statement in her head to see what, if anything, she might have said wrong, but is cut short when the goblin curtly demands that she follow him. Doing so, she realizes she hadn’t asked for the goblin’s name.

“Master Goblin, may I know your name? I apologize for not asking sooner.” Stopping short before she nearly bumped into the standing goblin, she wonders what she did wrong now.

“You may call me StoneTooth, Lady Potter.”

“What? Lady? You mean like a noble? I don’t… I don’t understand. I don’t think I’m a noble?” Seeing StoneTooth snarl in anger, she immediately stops talking and follows him, instead looking at the beautiful carvings on the walls. When they reach an ornamented door, StoneTooth knocks, waits, and then enters at the call to do so.

Following StoneTooth, Amaryllis found herself in a rather fancy office, filled with gold and jewels decorating everything, yet somehow not tacky. Greeting the goblin behind the desk, she asks for their name. The goblin's eyes’ go wide, they cough, and then respond “FangGrott, Lady Potter. Now, how may I help you?”

“Um, well I don’t really know. I came to the bank to discuss reparations on my part for the whole dragon incident a few months ago, but I feel like I keep offending you and your kin somehow. Also, I was not aware that I was a noble yet that’s the second time someone has referred to me as such… I am honestly very confused, would you please explain somehow?” Amaryllis states, trailing off at the end at both goblin’s expressions.

“I. I see. StoneTooth, get me Ragnok and the Potter Account Manager now.” FangGrott states, motioning for her to sit down in a chair. Doing so, she watches him pull out a vial and some parchment, as well as a quill. “Lady Potter, I need you to take an inheritance test before anything else can happen. First I need you to write your name with this quill on the paper, then give me a drop of blood and a single hair. I vow upon my clan that I shall use the blood and hair for no purpose other than this inheritance test.” A flash of magic occurred at that last statement, and rather shocked, Amaryllis agreed. She picked up the quill and wrote her name, only to hiss in pain, anger, shock, and fear at the feeling of words being engraved into her skin.

Dropping the quill as if it were on fire, she angrily asks the goblin what is going on. “FangGrott, why on earth would a respected bank such as Gringotts have one of those horrible torture devices, let alone ask someone to use it? I have dealt with those things before and will never go through it again!” Looking at the goblin’s startled face, she is about to stand up when he takes a deep breath and motions for her to stay.

“Lady Potter, I must ask, what do you know of this quill? And how do you know of it given that it is only legal for use under the direct supervision of Gringotts employees on Gringotts property?”

“I. What? I. What do you mean it is only legal on Gringott’s property? Delores Umbridge used those stupid quills on me and many other students at Hogwarts during my fifth year while we had detention with her! She made us write lines while the words were carved into our flesh!” Her magic rose and lashed out as her tone darkened, every instinct in her bones demanding an answer.

Seeing her clear rage, FangGrott attempts to calm her down. “Lady Potter, I apologize for the pain you and yours must have suffered under her hand. I swear to you that I will find out how exactly she got those quills, and she and the one who provided them will pay for their crimes. Please, Lady Potter, sit down so we may finish the test.”

Taking deep breaths, Amaryllis sat back down in the chair, plucked one of her hairs, and handed it to the goblin. Then, taking the small knife handed to her, she made a small cut on her finger, letting a drop of blood fall into the outheld vial. FangGrott put the hair into the vial, then put on the cap and shook it up. To Amaryllis’ astonishment, a great swell of magic occurred as the contents of the vial turned from reddish pink to a deep black with golden swirls. Opening the vial, FangGrott poured it out onto the parchment, words appearing as the liquid fell. The words that spelled great change for their world.
