Chapter 1
The summer warmth of July 31st was the happiest for the couple living at their quaint cottage in Godric’s Hollow. Lily Potter had just given birth to a beautiful baby with striking green eyes, and the small house was filled with the love and laughter of close friends who had come to celebrate the moment. The air was filled with happiness and though the ongoing war loomed outside, for this brief moment, James and Lily Potter were at peace, surrounded by the people they loved most. Their baby had green eyes, just like her mother. A baby girl was the heart of their happiness, a symbol of hope in uncertain times.
The same could not be said for the cold night of October 31st, the day all but one died to the cruel dark lord. James was the first to try and stop him, slamming the door in the dark lord’s face as he urged Lily to take their daughter to safety but a killing curse cut him off and his body slumped into the doorway. Then came Lily who barricaded the room and began to search for the invisibility cloak, it was big enough to hide both females but as she grabbed it an explosion from a spell slammed the makeshift barricade in all directions like many mothers. She stood in front of her child, willing to sacrifice herself and she unfortunately did just that.
Harriet Lily Potter, the girl who lived.
The baby was soon brought to her only remaining relatives that existed, Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon. She remained asleep when Hagrid the bearded giant rode his motorcycle across the country before landing on the road outside Number 4 Privet Drive,Little Whinging in Surrey
Despite the warnings of his Deputy headmistress, Albus Dumbledore left the girl on the doorstep.
McGonagall made a noise in anger which ironically sounded like a cat’s hiss before she shifted and shrunk until she finally transformed back into her tabby feline animagus form and began to walk down the darkened street
“Good Luck Harriet Potter” Dumbledore said as he finished approaching the corner of the street, straining his eyes through his half moon spectacles at the bundle of blankets on the doorstep of number 4 Privet Drive. He flicked his deluminator device to gift light back to the street lamps
The crack of apparition from the headmaster of Hogwarts covered the apparition crack of someone else who just arrived.
The moonlight hit her pale face and her eyes seemed to flash something similar to a blood red as the figure approached the house where the snoozing baby slept, she flicked her hand to do wandless magic and dispel the illusion hiding them. A faint smile formed as she crouched down, the hand still free from the black robes. On that hand rested a golden slightly rusty banded ring with a dark gem, jagged lozenge shape similar to that of a child’s drawing of a diamond shape
“Oh Albus…You senile old man who has cheated me many times, when will you learn your lesson?” The figure sighed and began to cast her own magic on the snoozing baby
Her hood fell off to reveal more of her face, paled skin, eyes the same colour of blood, black hair waving down her back and a spiked choker and silver necklace that was tucked down her robe’s front
“Do not worry my sweet child, Lady Death will look after you” She said as she slipped the ring onto the baby’s right index finger, leaving the child’s ring finger free for all the heir ships of their house. It shrunk to fit.
Death looked at the Resurrection Ring, it was not the same as the children’s tales made it out to be. The rumour of this particular Hallow was that while it could bring back people and creatures, the wearer could not touch them in the physical sense. Honestly humans underestimated her so much.
“Let’s just add a few little things to limit you so that you do not cause too much chaos and ruin my job” Lady Death as she added a few magical blocks to the ring and then goes to do it to Harriet but she sees that someone has already put some blocks on so she tears through them. Doing so reveals a foreign soul fragment that is not the girl’s,
“Son of a Hectate, he made her a Horcrux. Well I can not have that” She guided her finger over the scar on the baby’s head as she undid the damage although allowed the benefits to remain.
Lady Death shook her head in disappointment of Albus, her chosen child was gonna be a terror and she could not wait. She soon vanished but not with a crack of apparition.
The girl who survived thanks to a mother’s sacrifice, only to be abused for the next decade of her life by aunt and uncle. Burns from being forced to cook since about 6, underfed and highly malnourished due to sleeping in a cupboard, bruises and half broken bones from the physical abuse along with a limp caused from a mistakenly healed leg bone before talking about the less painful but more humiliating or verbal abuse they caused.
Strange things just sort of happened to her, flowers came back to life and she could successfully help dying animals. Harriet was also able to see ghosts of people which scared her at first when one appeared in her cupboard to check on her, she got to talk to them and soon learnt she could poke them or touch them. Or the time that she was hit by a car and her broken bones were healed by the time the driver got out.
It was like magic. However the Dursley Adults have literally pounded into her head that there is no such thing as magic.
Lady Death was always watching this household, she claimed the fat woman. Majorie Dursley, the sister of Vernon years ago when Harry was about 6 or 7 after Marge let her dogs chase Harriet until late at night letting them bite and maul her.
It is rather sad that a day later, her neck was ripped out by one of her dogs and then the others began to chew threw her fat and organs due to them being starved. A total accident.
Dudley’s disaster of a birthday at the zoo because a snake had gotten loose and rather unfortunately bit Piers Polkiss unknown to the Dursleys, Lady Death can only assume the Black Mamba thought the bully was a rat due to his features. Sadly Harriet was locked in her cupboard by Vernon and ordered to starve to death
A few weeks later and Harriet was still in her cupboard which had a lock on both inside and out for when she was being punished when she heard Petunia pick up the ringing telephone, The dim, dusty space which often felt suffocating to the young girl unfortunately was the closest thing she has to home but slowly she sat up and rubbed her eyes to clear out the sleepiness before pressing her ear against the door to overhear.
After the phone call, Petunia rushes up the stairs in a sob causing a handful of spiders to fall into Harriet’s dark red hair. It was not always dark red, it used to be black and shorter like a boys but every time her aunt forcefully cut it then it would regrow and change hue which her aunt loved to remind her of her drunkard father and now her freak of a mother. Harriet never knew her parents, every time she tried hard to think of them it resulted in a sharp headache and bright green light filling her vision as something…laughs menacingly.
“My little Diddykins…your father…” She barely could talk as she sobbed to her son
The 10 year old girl continued to stay awake and silently cry as the sharp pains in her stomach indicated hunger, they wanted to be fed by her mother like Dudley was fed by Aunt Petunia. The bonds placed on her and the ring by Lady Death had finally broken.
The Ring would grant this desire, the gem on top flashing red briefly then green.
Although the child also wanted the warm cuddle of their father, the security and safety in his arms as he protects her from all the nasty bullies and abuse. And the Ring would grant it for them, the gem inside flashing red then green once more.
She sadly did not notice these lights as she was contemplating sneaking out to grab some food from the fridge or cupboards like she usually had to. Harriet shook herself, crying isn't allowed. Crying meant she felt pain and freaks don't feel pain. That is what her Aunt and Uncle always said
Harriet soon found out that Uncle Vernon had suffered a heart attack while driving to a nearby restaurant from his work, unfortunately he later died in the ambulance to the hospital. The paramedics tried their best but due to the overweight man’s body, they could not restart his heart in time.
She wanted a family. Her family but no matter how many years she begged, Harriet’s parents were dead that died in a car crash. She didn't even know her parents' names, only that her mother was a whore and her father was a drugged up junkie.
Harry did not even notice her hair gained a pure white streak to highlight.
Unfortunately the Dursley family kept crumbling as Dudley being a loud egotistical gang leader pissed off the wrong person and got stabbed for it one night while he was walking along the old aqueducts. His remaining gang members ran off as they were only scared pre teens, leaving the boy to bleed to a slow and painful death. Lady Death was glad to take his soul as even when Harriet was dropped off all those years ago, he would pinch and bite her as a baby with his parents doing nothing and that bullying just continued to spiral.
It was the final straw for her Aunt as she started to drink what remained of her deceased husband's alcohol cabinet and after just a few days of this she began to take her drunken hazy anger out on the last living being in the house, previously she only verbally insulted her niece or ignored when her husband and son would beat her but not this time.
First was ripping handfuls of hair out of Harriet’s scalp, leaving the girl to have bad headaches and dry matted blood in the hair. Harriet rubbed her hand through the back of her mullet hair going over the shaved sides as she recalled it, this was her natural hair style which Petunia hated but no matter how many times it was cut it would just reappear.
Next was when Petunia stabbed a kitchen knife through Harriet’s knee cap, it completely incapacitated her as she fell to the ground after it. Petunia did not care for the warnings she received from the elderly headmaster of Hogwarts. It was this freak of a girl’s fault her husband was dead and her darling dudders as well as the few other deaths that surrounded her, she just knew it was all Harriet’s fault. Just like it was Lily’s fault for leaving her family.
Fortunately, her magic healed her but she had great difficulty walking and even going up and down the stairs caused her great agony with each step. Harriet felt she might never be able to walk properly again due to the injury.
The final was when her injury acted up and she simply fell after failing to grab the banister or that is what she thought at first before her tumbling body landed at the bottom of the stairs suffering a concussion and many broken bones as she could see her smirking aunt.
She wanted to breathe. She can't breathe. It took a few moments for Harriet to realise that.
‘She wanted to leave this place. She can't move. She wanted revenge. She cant get revenge’ Repeated in her head as she begged, the last thing she saw in her vision was something flashing red and then green.
