Summer

A warm summer breeze passes by, rippling through the tall grass and swaying softly amongst the leaves of the willow tree Pansy is sitting underneath.

Pansy watches as her daughters weave crowns from the array of wildflowers that Neville helped them gather. He’s somewhere in the distance, scouring the pond floor in hopes of finding a toad for their son to take to Hogwarts in the fall. She rubs her belly in content, grateful for the life she’s built with the person who gave her a second chance.

“Here you go mummy”

Pansy looks up and sees a grinning Ollie holding out a large bouquet of wildflowers.

Pansy inhales the fragrant aroma and smiles.
“Thank you my sweet boy, come sit next to me”
She pats the picnic blanket and makes room. Ollie lays down and rests his head on her belly.

“Your father and I are so excited for you to start school. You’re going to have such a wonderful time at Hogwarts.”

Pansy brushes the hair from his face and frets when she notices tears running down his cheeks.

“Oh love what’s wrong?”

“I'm going to miss you and daddy and Alice and Daisy! And I- I won't be there when the babys born.”

Ollie sniffles and wipes his tears, Pansy’s own eyes well up and she can’t help but smile at her son’s heartfelt confession. She pulls him in for a hug and hums a lullaby to soothe him.

“Oh Ollie…we’re going to miss you too! If it were up to me, I’d keep you at home forever, but you’re a growing boy and it’s important for you to go out and seek adventure and learn new things! Your sisters will want to hear all about it and I’m sure they’re going to wear out Felicity with the amount of letters they plan to owl you.”

Ollie giggles and Pansy pinches his cheek affectionately.
“As for the baby, Uncle Blaise says he’ll be born sometime in the winter, just in time for Christmas when you'll be home. And we both know that-”

“Uncle Blaise is never wrong!” they cheer in unison.

They break out in a fit of giggles and laugh even harder when Neville approaches, covered head to toe in mud but smiling triumphantly as he holds a very unhappy looking toad in his hands.
