Chapter 6
The days passed, and James started showing up earlier, pushing himself harder. He wasn’t perfect, but he could see progress.
Regulus, too, started letting his guard down a little. He still had that air of superiority, but there was a flicker of acknowledgment when James nailed a difficult move or kept up with him during a complex sequence.
There were still clashes. There were still times when Regulus would look at him like he was a lost cause, and James would want to throw something at his head. But something was changing between them.
They were still so different—Regulus with his smooth, elegant movements and James with his raw, unpolished energy—but it was starting to work.
And, little by little, they were beginning to form something that might resemble teamwork.
