The Charms Class
Professor Flitwick, the charms teacher, turned out to be an excitable, tiny wizard who stood on stacks of books to see over his desk. He started them off with a simple levitation spell— Wingardium Leviosa —which Vi struggled with at first, much to her frustration.
Caitlyn, on the other hand, got it on the first try. Her feather floated gracefully into the air, and Flitwick beamed at her.
“Excellent form, Miss Kiramman! Five points to Gryffindor!”
Vi scowled at her own stubbornly grounded feather before glancing at Caitlyn, who sat next to her. She caught her eye and smirked. “Struggling, Vi?”
“Pfft,” Vi scoffed. “Nah, I’m just—giving the feather a false sense of security.”
Caitlyn chuckled, shaking her head, but when Flitwick turned away, she leaned over slightly and whispered, “You’re flicking too much. Try less wrist.”
Vi hesitated before following her advice, flicking her wand with a smoother motion. To her surprise, the feather lifted slightly off the desk. Not as high as Caitlyn’s, but enough that Flitwick clapped his hands.
“Very good, Ms. Lanes!”
Vi shot Caitlyn a triumphant grin. “Look at that! I’m a natural.”
Caitlyn rolled her eyes but smiled nonetheless.
From across their table, Mylo elbowed Claggor. “She would fall for a nerd.”
Vi whipped her head toward them. “Shut up .”
