Wizard Mafia
Violet has fluffy neck-length hazelnut hair, she’s rather pale with light freckles spread across her nose and cheeks. Her eyes were a gorgeous shade of golden brown–a similar shade to that of honey. She was slightly shorter than Dazai, by a few inches at most; Chuuya was just about the same height as her. The three kids journeyed all around the huge bookstore, collecting textbooks with the help of the list Rosemarie had supplied Violet.
“Hey Dazai, Chuuya?” Violet spoke up to break the odd silence, “I was wondering, are you two muggles by chance?”
The question pondered in Dazai’s mind for a moment. ‘Muggle’ was the word for a person residing in a non-wizard or witch family. That would make Dazai and Chuuya muggles. “Why yes we are! What gave it away, the accents or the fact we’re almost as clueless about these books as you are?” Dazai giggled as Violet flushed in embarrassment.
“Probably the accent, you two are from Japan right? I learnt about the place when I was in primary school.”
Chuuya answered before Dazai could even open his mouth, “Dazai’s pure Japanese blood, though I’m part French but born in Japan.” Violet marvelled at that answer, maybe that would explain his odd hair colour.
“That's so so so cool!” Violet exclaimed. As the girl turned to start walking again, her eyes locked on to Dazai, more specifically his currently bleeding arm. Not sure about what to do, a few moments passed before she spoke up. “Uhm- Dazai?”
Having not caught on yet, Dazai replied in a questioning tone. “...yesss Violet?” He said, a stupid-looking grin spreading across his face as he looked down at the girl. He followed her gaze down to his arm, the freshly wrapped bandages slowly staining with blood. His smile dropped.
Chuuya, not exactly following the conversation, glanced down at his partner’s arm, where the other two were looking. Shit shit shit! Did he not clean the wound well enough? He can’t let Violet know-! A bandaged hand rested on Chuuya’s shoulder, snapping him out of his thoughts. He didn’t realise that sweat had started rolling down his face in a state of panic for his friend. “Chuuya, it’s fine.” Dazai reassured.
“...uh-?”
“Apologies Vi, we’ve got to take care of something real quick!” The bandaged boy said with a grin. Violet frowned at that. “Chibi and I will be back very soon, don’t get off task!”
With that, the ginger grabbed his friend’s wrist (the un-injured one) and they ran off to find the nearest restroom. “Bye Vivi~!! Ah- Chibi stop pulling so hard!” Violet could barely hear him anymore as the two left the store and retreated into the crowded streets.

“Chuuyaaaaa! Stop it! That really hur-” The boy fell silent suddenly, causing the older boy to look up. Dazai had stiffened, his eyes were staring at a certain individual. The man Dazai was looking at had a purple coloured turban wrapped on his head, he wore robes the very same colour. He was tall and pale, it reminded Dazai of himself.
“Chuuya, I think that guy’s in the wizard mafia.”He sounded serious, still with a hint of playfulness in his voice, only when pronouncing the ginger’s name.
Moments earlier, the two boys had stumbled into a bar, the shorter boy had pulled Dazai over to a table in the far corner of the building and started cleaning his partner’s wound. The younger of the two continued to stare at the man, not once blinking or looking away. Chuuya raised his arm and waved his hand to try and catch his friend’s attention.
The obscure man soon locked eyes with Dazai, as sweat drops rolled down his cheeks. Dazai responded to the action with a smile and thumbs up (with his other hand).
“What’re you doing mackerel-”
“Ahhh, nothing.”
Dazai glanced back down at his arm, it was completely wrapped and clean, not a single blood stain in sight. “How about we head back now-” Before the boy could even take a step, Chuuya tugged at his shirt.
“Idiot, explain what the fuck that was.”
“I’ll say later, doggy. Let’s just go, what if Snape’s back? We wouldn’t want to worry him.”
Chuuya let out a deep exhale of frustration.
The duo walked out of the bar, headed back to the bookstore.

It was a bother. The idea almost slipped his mind. Snape had almost forgotten about the little brats. The crowd didn’t seem like it had reduced in any way. The tall, cloaked figure managed to slip out of the stampede into a small opening. The thick, musky smell of alcohol tinted the air. Damp and foul. Snape’s brows furrowed with disgust. His eyes flickered back to the crowd, searching for a path he could take back to the bookstore. As he spammed curses in his mind, Snape spotted two boys run right past him. An odd shade of ginger and chocolate brown hair.
Almost like a second instinct, Snape grabbed onto Dazai’s collar, pulling him back, which caused Chuuya, the only pulling Dazai to stumble back as well. He sensed a slight flinch come from the boy, though promptly brushed it off. A scowl was visible on the man’s features. Snape had many questions for the boys, some were unnecessary to seek out.
“What are you two doing here?” He began, staring down at them. Snape’s gaze was sharp and impatience was clear in his tone. He stood back, loosening his hold on Dazai’s now wrinkled collar.
The boys stared back up at him, they were now standing side by side. “Ah, sorry Snape!” Dazai replied, a cheesy smile plastered on his face. Chuuya just seemed annoyed.
Snape frowned. But it was clear the irritation originally present had eased itself. “That’s Professor Snape to you, problem child.” He mumbled.

Violet had finished collecting all the textbooks on the list, as well as two extras of each for her new friends. She spotted her mother waiting at the counter, she was reading the newspaper she had on the train earlier. She steadily ran over to greet her, careful to not drop the stack of textbooks in her arms.
Rosemarie looked up from the paper clasped in her hands. “Violet! …Why do you have so many books-?”
“My friends- uh, the boys from Ollivanders earlier were helping me get books, the extra ones are theirs”
“Where are they then?”
Violet flinched. Right, they should have been back by now! It’s been 15 minutes already…
“Dazai had to go to the bathroom I think, Chuuya accompanied him and they went out into the alley” Violet answered.
Concern washed over Rosemarie’s face, two young boys out there in the bust streets by themselves? As a mother, she had a duty to keep not just her daughter safe, but other children too.
“Are you two okay? You look quite distressed ma’am” A young boy approached the duo, he had messy red hair and bright blue eyes. He took his hands out of pockets and offered a hand to greet Violet. “I’m Ron, Ron Weasley” He said, an upside down frown displayed on his slightly chubby face.
Violet took the hand, offering a sincere smile. “I’m Violet Bellbottom, this is my mum, Ms Bellbottom.”
Slipping her hand back under the books, Violet answered the previous question “My friends ran off earlier to go do something and they haven't returned, I’m concerned they might have gotten hurt” Just as Violet finished her speech, the door rang indicating the arrival of someone. She whipped her head around immediately, sighing in relief at the sight before her.
There stood Dazai, Chuuya, and Professor Snape, who had a stern look on his face; one of frustration. Rosemarie and Ron both followed Violet’s gaze; Ron just stared in curiosity, while Rosemarie walked over to greet Snape.
“Severus, how are the boys? Are they hurt at all?” Rosemarie asked frantically, her and the man briefly chatted at Ollivanders earlier; she had learnt the boys were under his supervision while shopping. She had a feeling she’d grow quite attached to these two.
“They’re not hurt, don’t worry. Though they are in big trouble for leaving while I wasn't there.” He said with a reassuring voice. He had found the boys wandering around the alley, not doing a very good job at navigating their way to the store.
After a brief moment, Violet ran over to the boys. She hugged them both without warning, which made Dazai stiffen under the sudden contact. Chuuya just leaned into the hug. She hopped off them, and Dazai sighed in relief. Ron had followed after Violet, and halted a few steps behind her.
“You two must be Violet’s friends, you got Professor Snape looking after you? Merlin, that's unlucky!” Ron exclaimed, holding his hands over his mouth in an over-exaggerated sense.
Dazai blinked a few times in Ron’s direction, then glanced back at Chuuya. They Shared a look for a brief second before snapping out of it. “Snape’s great, everyone’s all so stereo-typical-! Anyways, I’m Osamu Dazai, and this is my dog, Chuuya! Nice to meet you!” Dazai said, leaning forward to better face Ron. He offered a gentle smile, and Ron returned the expression, a little confused about the ‘dog’ thing.
Chuuya rolled his eyes, a scowl appearing over his features. “Woof…” He muttered under his breath, unwillingly going along with Dazai’s antics. He knew that if he didn’t, he’d have to deal with a Dazai tantrum later.
“My name’s Ron Weasley, I hope we can be friends!”

Dazai despised doctor Mori, his checkups, that annoying ability of his, and his stupid face. Chuuya was found by Dazai and Mori themselves around 3 or 4 years ago, about two days after the Suribachi settlement was blown up. They found Chuuya in the ruins when they were instructed to investigate the large explosion, he was incredibly roughed up, personally affected by the destruction the explosion ensued.
Currently, Dazai was sitting in Mori’s office while the doctor stitched up the arm wound. Elise, the 10 year old ability which Mori called Dazai’s ‘sister’, was sitting on the ground, scrunched up papers surrounding her. She drew horribly formed people with her crayons. “Shuuji-kun, I thought I told you to be more careful on this mission? And most certainly not to stab yourself…” Mori sighed in agony, just what was he going to do with this kid?
Mori glanced up from the boy’s arm to look at him, Dazai’s face was emotionless, one could mistake him for dead if he didn’t blink. It was an unsettling sight for anyone, though the doctor was used to the child's behaviour by now. “Can I go see Chuuya now?” The boy mumbled, his voice barely above a whisper. Mori looked into his eyes. The eyes are meant to be the window to one’s soul, so why were the young boy’s so dark? No light was to be seen, no humanity and no emotions, Dazai’s eyes were like those of a porcelain doll’s.
“Of course Shuuji! Chuuya should be in his room currently, make sure he’s not asleep before you enter”
And just like that, the smallest glint of joy was seen in the child’s chocolate brown eyes, ignoring the constant use of his dead name. “Thank you Mori-sensei” Dazai stood up and bowed slightly towards his Boss. “Bye Elise-chan, I’ll play with you later, yeah?” Dazai smiled at the young girl.
Elise looked up, eyes sparkling at the offer. “Yay! Thanks Osamu-oniisan!!” The girl exclaimed, she had gotten up and was now clinging on to Dazai’s leg, trying to hug him despite the height difference.
“Be careful Elise-chan, my ability might affect you!” Dazai warned in a playful voice; Elise obeyed and sat back down to finish her drawing.
Mori watched the whole exchange with a smirk on his face, his two favourites getting along, how sweet.

A knock was heard on the door to his room, Chuuya assumed it was either Dazai or Mori, but then again, Mori wouldn’t knock.
“Come in Dazai!” Chuuya said, not once looking up from his book.
The door opened and a slightly-more bandaged Dazai came into view, he had long black pants, a white button-up dress shirt and his usual black tie on. The Port Mafia uniform was nothing special really, though Dazai had grown rather attached to it.
“Hi Chibiko” Dazai said in a toneless voice; a small smile stretching over his face. Chuuya furrowed his brows at the quiet response, it was so unlike his usual behaviour.
“What’s up? You seem off” Chuuya questioned in a concerned tone.
“Oh, uhm… I’m fine Chuuya.” Dazai properly walked into the room and plopped down on the bed, sitting beside his partner. Chuuya looked at Dazai, he noticed the boy’s eyes were awfully empty–more than usual. His eyes were red and puffy, Chuuya could see tear marks staining the brunette’s cheeks. Dazai noticed his staring, “Stop looking at me like that Chuuya” he said, voice stern.
“Well you did walk into my room, it’d be rude if I didn’t at least look at you” Chuuya remarked, “Plus, I can totally tell somethings off. Tell me what happened Osamu.”
“No.”
“Fine” Chuuya sighed, releasing his ability which was holding up his book. “But don’t expect me to be there while you self-destruct.”
Dazai brought his knees up to his chest and wrapped his bandaged arms around them. “I was going to tell you about earlier, at the bar in Diagon Alley.” Dazai stared at the wall, not making eye contact with Chuuya. “When I mentioned the ‘wizard mafia’, I meant that guy is most likely in some shady wizard group. He looked super suspicious and it looked as if he was trying to hide something.”
“Well that’s one hell of a deduction. What do we do about it?” Chuuya asked.
“I saw a poster while we were walking. He’s a Professor at Hogwarts, which means we have a chance to get close to him and shut down whatever stupid schemes he and his wizard mafia are dreaming up” Dazai stated casually.
“Aight, sounds like a plan I guess.”
Dazai buried his face in his knees, still staring longingly at the wall across from him. “Mhm”
Chuuya spoke up. “We should pack our things ready for tomorrow, don’t want Mori-sensei getting mad” He rotated his head to face Dazai, waiting for some kind of response.
Dazai nodded in quiet agreement.
