Chapter 1

Noises filled the platform 9 ¾, as parents cry goodbye to their first years and tip their hats to the 6th and 7th, I hold my ears barely blocking out the noise as my half-brother carries our stuff on to the train.
“Thanks Gray...” I say watching him struggle with his luggage.
I can barely utter a whisper. My cat scratches the bright blue carrier I bought especially for him.
“Not now Nargle!” I continue whispering, just a little bit louder. The dark brown tabby cat stops and sits quietly.
“Maggs, get on the train already.” Gray says, clearly eager to board. I nod and grab Nargle, following his steps, and we sit in an empty car that people just moved from.
“It smells like the Pickled Frogs that Step-mum makes!” He says, and I chuckle and nod, fondly remembering the ugly green and smelly food mom makes every Christmas. The door to our car slides open.
“Hi.” Said a voice.
The child had curly dirty blond hair put into space buns, her eyes had a darker shade of blue than Mine and Gray’s. She was only a little shorter than me. There was a scar right by her forearm. She sat down without our input, which was fine but a little weird.
Gray opens his mouth to speak but acts a little flustered. Surely, he doesn’t like her? I could always look into his mind....
“H-hi... I’m Gray.”
“Emelia Brown.”
Gray stares as I wonder who her parents are. She looks odd, pretty though. Another child opens the car doors and asks for Gray, I stare at him questioning how he made friends before we even get to Hogwarts. He stands up and leaves. I opened my mouth to speak to the girl but decided against it.
“Are you going to say your name...?” The girl asks me. I look confused but answer.
“Magenta Alista Lovegood.”
“Magenta?” I nod.
“You can just call me Maggie. Everyone I know does.” She nods. I cover my ears again and drift to sleep as the train starts to move. The girl reaches towards the food trolley and buys 2 chocolate frogs and a carton of Jellybeans.

“Is she awake yet?”
“It’s only been thirty minutes.”
I shift and open my eyes to see a boy with ginger hair, freckles and a shirt that says “I’M NO MUGGLE”
“Hmmphmh?” I try to speak but I’m too tired to form words.
“Who...?” I finally get a word out that can be understood.
“Will Weasley.” He says this and I stare astonished.
“W-Weasley?” “As in the Weasleys? You aren’t a Granger-Weasley, or a Weasley-Delacour. Or a Potter and Charlie isn’t with anybody that I know of.., and I can’t see you being Percy’s kid so... Is your dad George Weasley?”
“Yeah.” He nods.
“Are you sure?”
“I’m Pretty sure I know my own Dad.” His dark green eyes sparkle as he grins and looks back towards his pink and purple polka-dotted toad.
I close my mouth and try not to question his pet. I cup my ears once more. I tune out every word said on the train. Sometimes I hear too much. Like people plotting things or secrets I should not know. Once I overheard My mom crying after we lost our grandpa, she said had locked herself in a room for days at a time. The only person I had was Gray, ever since his mother died in childbirth he has been living with my mom and I. He helped me when my ears hurt after hearing screams twice as loud as other muggles and wizards. He was also the most annoying half-brother I could ever have; he always picks on me about being too quiet and not talking enough. Gray is the exact opposite of me, he talks a lot and is the biggest and most social extrovert I have ever seen. He always tries to help me make friends, although none of the kids or people in general like how quiet I am, but that’s just because I’m not used to them or the space.
“What house do you guys want to be in?” Will asks Emelia and me.
“Gryffindor is like the only good house. Only cuties like you can be accepted.” Emelia winks. Will is completely oblivious to this and just nods up and down. “I am absolutely sublime.”
“I would care for any.” I whisper, Emelia stares at me like I’m crazy.
“Seriously?” “You wouldn’t mind being a Slytherin?”
“No not really.” “I know no one will care.” They stare and we sit in silence, Emelia eats a pack of Jolt Gum, and I nibble on a chocolate toad as Will stole some of Gray’s flavored jellybeans and immediately spiting them out “Ugh! Is this snot?!” After they finish chatting, we all get dressed in our robes and get ready for the train to stop.
