“Sirius, come look at this!!!” Remus said, practically shouting from the living room of his tiny flat. Sirius then came running as Remus shoved the muggle paper in his face.
Up until recently life has not been kind to Sirius Black. Hell, he had a rotten childhood that was only better because of the friends he made in Hogwarts. The friends who had helped him run away when his parents abused and later fucking disowned him for not wanting to become a Deatheater. Life was then fine and happy, then the fucking war which had been slowly starting from before he was born kicked into high gear. Causing his best friend in the whole wide world, James Potter, to die.
All because of his other traitorous “best friend” Peter Pettigrew. The same rat who framed him for bloody murder, and imprisoned him in the soul draining Azkaban for 12 hellish years. All while the love of his life Remus has been suffering, thinking he killed their friends, a dozen innocent muggles, and in the process orphaning his godson, Harry. All while fucking Peter has been living his best life, at first as a pet rat for the Weasley family. Sirius had seen via an old news clipping where the family had taken a trip to Egypt-with one of the youngest family members- Ron’s beloved pet rat “Scabbers”.
Nice try, Peter. He would know that traitorous rat face anywhere- especially due to the fact one of the toes (ring finger on a human) was missing, This photo from 1983, was the motivation Sirius would need 9 years later to break out of Azkaban to first of all meet his godson and second of all avenge his best friend by killing Peter Pettigrew. Only to find out earlier this year that his dear old friend Peter, faked his death for a second time when Ron was 5 or 6 (either late 1983 after the picture or sometime in 1984) to what? Apparently escapes from Wizarding Society as a whole to become a baker of all things. Knowing Peter checks out as he was a great baker who had a passion for it, but still.
Today, featured in the muggle paper Remus was reading, their dear old friend had won the United Kingdom’s national chess tournament and was featured in an interview where he explained his “accident”, and career at “A Piece of Heaven Bakery” in London. Peter in this case was too lazy, he made it so easy to track him down, Sirius thought as he saw the traitor smiling with his trophy in a picture. Smiling. The man who had ruined so many of his friends' lives, as if they were completely insignificant. Were they even friends in the first place? Did they actually mean anything to Peter? Almost ten years of friendship and brotherhood wasted, and now the coward was hiding with the muggles who during the war he hadn’t even thought twice about killing. The irony is horrendous. Sirius couldn’t hold in his laugh. “My love,” he said to Remus, “let's go kill him, together.”
“I agree, but I believe we should wait a day. Let him bask in his victory and sense of security for a moment longer.” Remus then said, a grin forming on his face.
“Tomorrow, it is.” Sirius then stated, all these years drove them both crazy in different ways. But that's not their problem if anything it's Peter who should and will be afraid. Now, with the Ministry starting on board to agree with his innocence, the vouch from Dumbeldore, Harry, and hopefully memories or a testimony from the Rat he will be free. Making Peter the most wanted wizard in all of Great Britain as he will be vital in the new trial. The Ministry had said if Sirius was truly innocent, then Peter would be one of the only people who would be able to prove this as Sirius’ and Remus’ memories alone could be tainted. To be frank he’s surprised it's taken this long, but soon this will all be worth it. He thought while laying his head on Remus, focusing on the crackling fireplace as Sirius slowly started to chuckle softly as he rocked slightly back and forth. Gaining volume, until eventually Remus joined in
