The Giant Squid
Mamas’ gone. She told me to behave. The fleshy young ones mean no harm and the others of the lake leave me be. I’m brought food by the young ones, but it isn't much. It’s filling but bland. A few are interesting. They feel like the others. But they know nothing.
I am big. I am strong. The warped one tries to control me, but I only half listen. I am…what am I? I am more than this. I know that. ‘Koa, don’t give in to the whispers!’ Mama used to urge me.
I am Koa. I am an alpha. The Mermaids teach me. I see a lot. The half bird is a liar. There is danger. The young ones don’t understand, so I will stand by them.
This ring binds me. This place is only pain. The liar manipulates everyone and everything to fit his story. I can’t escape. Riddle didn’t deserve this story, but his greed let him fall into the trap. A fool in the making. The liar will only make himself more great than he deserves. I just want to be free of this worry.
He’s so little. He’s so weak. He is mine. This blasted ring must go. I want to go home to mama. He should come with me so I can care for him. No more half birds. No more seals. The emerald is mine.
“Little Emerald, shall we get away from here?”
