Remus was stood in the crowded train station with people running in every direction trying to get to where they needed to be. There was an announcement made on the tannoy, but he couldn’t make out what it was saying due to the rush of everyone around him. As he tried to push through the mass of people trying to find somewhere to sit, Remus noticed a pungent smell of cigarettes that reminded him of Sirius and burnt the hairs in his nose. When he finally found a seat the smell still strong in the air, he was finally able to enjoy the tea he had brought from the café the sweet taste filled his mouth and made Remus forget about the awful smell. He decided to put on some music through his walkman to block out the commotion going on around him as the familiar sound flooded his ears, he started to relax ignoring all the activity that was going on around him.
He couldn’t wait to leave his old life behind him; to be able to leave the torment and the pain in the past and to start a new life. Remus wanted it to be exactly like how it was when he was at school, and it was just him and Sirius against the world. They would do everything together and nothing could separate them not even after prank. They went through everything together both the good and the bad. But when things kept on getting worse and worse they grew distant from each other. Now all Remus can think about is all the fun they had together and how much he now misses him.
Remus couldn't wait much longer the anticipation was killing him just waiting for that train to finally arrive to bring him back to the place he had once called home. To the place where all his friends would be waiting for him. He was waiting for a new start away from that flat in chinatown and the memories that came with it. Even though he had Grant waiting for him at the flat and he had made new happy memories there it still didn't change the longing he felt for something that was missing and the ache in his heart that had never fully disappeared.
Remus sat on that bench in the crowded train station hoping and searching for some sort of sign that Sirius was there that he would come around the corner any moment and sit next to him. But he couldn't see him he wasn't there even though Sirius had managed to escape from Azkaban it would be stupid to think that he would try to search for him. Remus also felt a sense of loneliness being sat at platform 9¾ without James talking about quidditch or Peter trying to play chess or Mary and Marlene discussing all the things they did over the holidays. Remus missed them and he new they wouldn't be able to join him on this trip to Hogwarts not now and not ever.
Finally, people started boarding the express and he decided to start looking for an empty compartment to go in. He managed to find one and as he sat down, he began to feel drowsy, and he shut his eyes anticipating the new journey he would be taking alone.
