You said You didn't have a Heart and that You'd need Mine
It all starts in Madam Malkins.
Dracos getting his robe fit, to be the best first year at Hogwarts, just as a Malfoy should be.
He sees someone walk in, it's not too jarring, just someone who can be an assumed muggleborn or at least a muggle-lover from the cheap muggle fashion they adorn. Their hair is long, messy, and a bunch of curls neatly stay compacted into the mess, like the mess they make can only be neat. Their head is down turned their hair seams to cover their face so well Draco can hardly make out the bottom half of it.
Then, they turn to face him when madam Minkle walks them up to the stand next to Draco. He's what Draco expected from a muggle born, no muggle can fix what's wrong with the boy next to Draco. No, only magic can attempt(even then it's not going to do much).
The boy next to Draco is hard to describe.
The first thing Draco noticed is his eyes, behind circular broken frames, are beautiful emeralds, lazer green in the way they manage to keep Draco pinned down from where Dracos standing, one has a lazy lid, the pupil in that one manages to encompass almost the whole lot of his iris, the other eye is a doe like one, large in the way the other is small, the green really shows through in this one, gold simers in his eyes it's magic to say the least.
Theres a reason for his lazy lid. The lightning type scar that starts in clumps on his forehead dispelling three zig-zag lines down his face: one stays on his forehead spreading from the right of the boys forehead to the left, one goes down to his right eye causing the half lid and spreading down to the bottom of his his face puffing it, disappearing under his jaw. One line goes down the middle of his face, down his nose, it breaks clefting his lips to his nose, his right Canine is shown off.
Draco stares so hard that the boy starts to clutch at his overly loose jumper. The boy starts to stare back, as if waiting for a comment that only Draco can give.
Draco knows manners, he's a Malfoy. He does the best he can to relax whatever expression his face is showing, and asks simple
"Hogwarts too?"
The boy startles, breath catching as he attempts to wheeze it out. His voice is small when he mumbles
"Err, yeah, I am going to Hogwarts."
The boy tries to smile, lips drawn to a line that curls upward at the ends, his cleft is the only thing Draco can focus on, distracting from his bright eyes, honey brown skin and curly hair.
To loose his focus on the boy he looks around. He spots Hogwarts ground keeper outside, perfect!
"That's Hogwarts grounds keeper, " Draco looks back at the boy, confusion is on the boys face with a slight interest.
"My parents say hes a half giant." Draco lets out a laugh at the notion and turns back to the boy, disgust litters the boys face. The scrunch on the boys nose looks weird with the way his scar stays down, not as loose as the skin around it. Draco has the strange urge to feel the difference, to get a chance to see the different expressions this boy can make.
Draco doesnt reach out, he a Malfoy and Malfoys are proper. Instead Draco straightens himself out, and changes the conversation topic.
"What house do you think you'll get into?" Draco tries not to come off as wanting to know too much, but he's not sure he manages.
The boy looks back confused
"Houses, you know?"
The boys eyebrows scrunch down, the scar across his forehead stays put the skin above it wrinkling more than the skin below. Just slightly it really isn't noticable. Draco doesn't know why he notices, why he cares.
To the boys confusion, Draco explains, "theres four: Slytherin, Ravenclaw, Gryffindor and Hufflepuff." Draco pauses, swallows into the overwhelming dryness of his mouth and continues, "I really would hate to be a Hufflepuff! I mean I'd love to be a Slytherin, Malfoys always are, and being a Ravenclaw would be fine. Being a Gryffindor might just kill me though." Letting out a short laugh Draco looks to the other boy.
"Oh, I think I might like to be in slytherin too than-" The boy wheezes a bit before he continues "- if you dont mind...err."
The boys eyes dart down than back up at Dracos, waiting.
Draco for some reason, is clammy, nervous to answer when he says, "No! I don't mind, really, maybe we could even have a dorm together." Draco doesn't have the heart to tell him that most people in slytherin house are pure blood, not when this boy won't know what it would mean. He doesnt want to upset him, discourage him, so he figure maybe that will change.
Draco wants to ask, wants to make sure that he shouldn't get his hope up. Wants to get his school supplies and get to Hogwarts and spend the whole year with this boy- when he doesn't even know his name?
"I'm sorry I don't think I introduced myself yet. I'm Draco, Draco Malfoy, and you are?"
"Oh! I didn't introduce myself either! I'm Harry, Harry Potter, Its so nice to meet you Draco!"
Draco pauses. He blinks.
Once
Twice
Draco swallows, and tries to think about how Harry Potter, from the Potter books is right infront of him. Harry, who everyone thinks has a simple lightning scar had a much more detailed one. Harry Potter, who everyone thinks is a master of the wizarding world, has traveled the world. How that Harry Potter is a muggle masher...
Draco snaps out of his trance. When Harry (Harey POTTER) speaks up.
"You good? Is Harry a really bad name here or something?" Harry (yes Harry Potter!) turns to look at him, and now Draco feels like he really sees him. Green eyes like his mothers, hair a mix of his father's and mothers. Those glasses are his fathers.
Harry looks just like his parents without knowing what his parents look like, act like. Well, Draco doesn't know that. Whoever Harry lives with myst be nice, they must be pretty poor too, have to The Harry Potter such awful hand-me-downs, but Draco relents, the muggles must be good for THE Harry Potter to live with them.
So Draco breathes and finally speaks again.
"It-it's just that you're really famous! Like really famous! Every witch and wizard that's seen the wizarding world knows you!" Draco suddenly feels embarrassed. Draco not some Potter fan. Sure hes read the books, but they're children's books they're made for kids. Sure he may have imagined being his friend and the thought that that might just be coming true right now is really nerve wracking.
That doesn't matter. Because Harry is looking at Draco concerned, "Oh." the other boy let's out.
"Does that mean I'm like super rich or something?" The other boys jokes about, while Draco nods his head. The Potter wealth was great, Harry's own Grandfather had made sleezeys hair products. A goldmine really.
Harry looks confused, like he hadn't expected being rich an option.
