Excited footsteps sounded through the halls of Hogwarts as all rushed to the Great Hall. The hall had been completely transformed to look like a concert venue, with the center stage where the professors usually sat and in front were rows and rows of seats. It was the finale of the newest venture to promote inter-house friendship, a sing competition. Students from each house were selected by peers and friends, and during the past weeks they have showcased their talents and were voted whether to move forward or be eliminated from the competition. At first, the idea seemed bogus, but then, as time passed, people thought that the houses would only support their candidates, but they were quickly proven wrong, and as such, a friendly atmosphere suddenly developed between houses as they campaigned for their favorites to win the competition.
After 5 weeks, only four contestants remain, and tonight will be the night when the winner is crowned. Two of these contestants were from Hufflepuff, and that came as a shocker to most, as they thought the house was only made up of shy individuals. Cedric, a rapper, and Hannah, a powerhouse singer, represented their house to the highest and have gained the love of students and even some professors who were now entering the hall decked out in the Hufflepuff colors. The other contestant came from Ravenclaw, and this was decided on a vote after Luna and Ginny were neck and neck in the votings. A final vote had to be done, and the Ravenclaw inched ahead of the Gryffindor by two points. The last and final contestant came from the Slytherin house, and this ladies and gentlemen was a shocker as the Slytherin seemed to be the favorite to win. The double shocker is that the Slytherin is none other than Draco Malfoy. Ice Prince, tall, blond hair with skin so pale and eyes that looked into your soul. Many outside his knew of him as Draco was something of a legend in Slytherin. Smartest guy in the school, captain of their Quidditch team, and Headboy, who while kind was bit of a recluse and did not speak much.
When the Slytherin House had met to decide who should represent them, they had pondered for a while, and even though they did not know of his takents then, they had hoped for the face of their house to represent them even if he was not talented. They had quickly been proven wrong and were shocked when they heard his melodic voice during the first week of the competition, and from there on they had swiftly started to campaign for the Slytherin. Students from other houses have also joined in on his fanclub, and now he has a substantial amount of voters on his side.
The Great Hall had quickly been filled, the judges in their seats, and a few parents of the students there as well. The students had filed in and sat in the section for their designated champions as the lights dimmed and the MC Susan came onto the stage.
"Good evening and welcome to the Finals of Let Me See Your Voice." Loud cheers echoed in the room, and a few fireworks coutesy of the Weasley twins might have gone off.
Susan smiled and continued, "The order for tonight's show is as follows:
1. I will introduce our finalists to you
2. We will have a word from our Headmaster
3. The finalists will perform one song selected by popular fan vote
4. A brief voting process will take place and the winner will be announced
5. The winner will then do a song of their choice to close out the night."
The hall was quiet as Susan finished, and then a drumroll sounded, causing a few audience members to jump.
"Introducing our first finalist from the House of the Hardworking and who is known to be incredible Brave; Cedric Diggory." Loud cheers erupted, especially from the female populace as Cedric came onto stage with a beaming smile. He went to stand next to Susan
"Keep those applauses for his housemate, the Goddess of Kindness, Hannah Abbott." Hannah did a cartwheel on the stage to land in the spot beside Cedric and struck a pose.
"Amazing!" Susan chuckled, "Now from the house for the knowledge lovers, please help me welcome your reigning queen, Luna Lovegood." As if she were floating on air, Luna glided to stand beside Hannah.
"Our final contestant hails from the house of ambition and resourcefulness, Draco Malfoy." Screams erupted from the audience as the Slytherins did a version of their house song created for this moment; however, no Draco came to the stage.
The MC furrowed her brows as the music continued to play, but no contestant. A few whispers broke out in the crowd as the students turned in their seats to see if the familiar head of Blond could be seen.
Still no Draco. As Susan was about to speak again, the side door to the stage flew open, and the boy in question rushed in. The usually put-together student seemed a bit disheveled as his tie hung loose around his neck and his hair was in a complete mess, as if someone were pulling on it. His lips were a bit swollen, and his shoelaces were untied. He quickly did a bow and apologized as he was held up with something. The students, however, paid this no mind and continued to cheer as their star was here and alright.
Susan quickly shooed them off the stage and had the headmaster call up to give his speech. Dumbledore took the mic and stated, "Good evening, students, staff, and honored guests. I would like to extend a warm welcome to each and every one of you as we gather here for this special event. It is truly a moment of pride to see all of you—students from every house—come together in the spirit of cooperation and friendly competition. I must express my sincere gratitude to all of you for the time, dedication, and effort you've invested to make this event a success. Each house has worked tirelessly, and I am proud of the creativity, passion, and teamwork that have gone into every detail. Tonight is a celebration of what makes Hogwarts such a remarkable place—our diversity, our talent, and the unique qualities each house brings to the table. Whether you're here to cheer, compete, or simply enjoy the festivities, I hope you take a moment to appreciate the hard work and determination that have led us to this point. So, without further ado, I encourage you all to sit back, relax, and enjoy the show. I know it will be a memorable one. May the contestant shine tonight!
Thank you."
Susan came back to the stage and after quick process, the order in which the contestabts will perform were chosen. Hannah, Draco, Luna and then Cedric.
The song selcted by popular vote for Hannah was 'Pumped Up Kicks' as this was a song she would often sing while dancing around the common the room and true to herself, Hannah gave the performance of a lifetime. She had everyone on their feet singing from a lyrics prompt that was created. Next on stage was Draco and his song as selected by the population is 'Fight for Your Right' and this was a fun performance as the students got to see Draco in a different light and doing a complete 360 of the sings he usually chooses. He was decked out in a full rock gear from head to toe. Luna was given 'Runaway' and she did an acoustic version of the song so deep, not a single dried eye was left in the audience. Cedric was given a song by his favourite band to perform 'Bohemian Rhapsody.'
After the performances were over, Susan made her way to the stage.
"Thank you all for such an incredible evening! The performances tonight have been absolutely fantastic, and I think we can all agree that the talent on display was truly exceptional. Now, it’s time for you, the audience, to make your voice heard. On the sheet of paper by your chair, you’ll find a simple way to cast your vote. All you need to do is touch your finger to the name of the person you want to vote for, and your vote will be recorded instantly. So, take a moment, make your choice, and let’s see who will come out on top! Thank you again, and happy voting!"
A silence gathered over the audience as they removed the paper from their chairs and went to cast their votes. A calming song played in the background as the contestants were ushered once again onto the stage. After what seemed like forever but in reality were a few minutes, Susan again picked up the mic. "Ladies and gentlemen, thank you so much for your participation tonight! The votes have been counted, and the results are in. After an evening filled with incredible performances, we now know who has emerged victorious. It's been a truly exciting and memorable experience, and I want to thank everyone who took part, whether on stage or as a supporter.
And now, without further delay, let's announce the winner!" drumrolls sounded around the room and Susan took a deep breath "Draco Malfoy, you are tonight's champion! Congratulations!" Cheers erupted all around the room from various houses and even a few professors jumoed to their feet cheering. in teh corner of the room, hidden by the shadows stood a figure clapping heartily with a smile on their face as they gazed at Draco who was smiling so bright, it could have blinded anyone.
"Let’s all give them a big round of applause for their outstanding effort and achievement. Thank you all once again for making this event such a success and without further ado, here is your winner singing a song of their choice"
The stage was cleared of all save Draco and he took the mic.
"I'm truly honored to be here, and I thank you wholeheartedly every single individual who voted for me and who campaigned as well" A mic stand appeared on stage ad he shot a smile in the direction of the shadows. A few students closer to the front craned their heads to see but saw only darkness. As Draco prepared to sing a sound erupted in the hall and recording started playing.
"hi what are you up to" an usual voice questioned, after hearing it, the students realized that the voice has been distorted and as such they could not place it
"trying to choose my song for the finale if I am to win" that voice easily recognized was Draco, they have been hearing him sing for weeks now there was no way they could've mistaken it
"you are going to win babe, I have complete faith in you" a sound was heard as if a kiss was placed on lips. A few gasps sounded in the audience and they looked to the stage for the person there but only a smile played on his face
"is that so? and what if I don't?" Draco asked a happy sigh to his voice
"then they're idiots and you only need me cause I'm your number one fan"
A chuckled came from Draco and the sound of kissing again "I love you Draco Malfoy and fuck anyone who has anything to say about that" This time, the students were able to pick up a male's voice and this time shock and disbelief was written on the face of every audience member.
The notes of a song started and Draco opened his mouth to sing
"Holy Father, we need to talk
I have a secret that I can't keep
I'm not the boy that you thought you wanted
Please don't get angry, have faith in me"
A screen behind Draco lit and showed the Slytherin sitting in the library, a pile of books before him. That wasn't what the audience focused on though, beside Draco someone was laid their fingers casually running though his hair.
"Say I shouldn't be here but I can't give up his touch
It is him I love, it is him
Don't you try and tell me that God doesn't care for us
It is him I love, it is him I love"
The scene changes as it shows, Draco standing in an empty classroom looking at a figure who stands at the window smoking a cigarette. The audience still not recovered from their shock watched as the headboy instead of reprimanding the student, moved towards and shared a kiss passing the smoke between them. The person smiled down at Draco but still a clear face was not shown.
"I walk the streets of Mississippi
I hold my lover by the hand
I feel you staring when he is with me
How can I make you understand?"
Showing on the screen now were scenes of Draco out and about this person holding hands in various cities. Some even captured a few background people, some staring at the couple with joy and others with disdain. Few videos show Draco and this mystery person running through fountains, swimming in pools and even at the top of the Eiffel tower sharing a kiss.
"Say I shouldn't be here but I can't give up his touch
It is him I love, it is him
Don't you try and tell me that God doesn't care for us
It is him I love, it is him I love"
The scene again changes to an empty dorm room and it's here the first clue to who this person might be came to light. Draco is seen in a school shirt way too big for him with a Gryffindor tie in hand. He looks into the camera and the audience hears the mystery person speak "show me the tattoo love"
Draco smiling turns his back to the camera and slips his hand from the shirt and there on his right shoulder is a tattoo of a lion and a snake entwined. "beautiful" the person speaks and "you are perfection, you know that right" and a hand with an Heirship ring comes into light.
Pandemonium broke loose as the audience obviously knowing who the ring belongs to starts looking around the room to find the person. The first years, who might not have known, were quickly told and them too were searching frantically to see if the other person was in the audience. Some remembered how he had looked when he rushed onto the stage and began to piece together just where he was and with whom. Someone soon spotted them and made a gesture. Everyone turned their heads to the direction of where Draco had smiled before he began to sing.
A small light had illuminated that area and within it stood Harry Potter. Now if Draco was good, Harry was bad.
Harry Potter was, in many ways, the complete opposite of Draco Malfoy, but not in the way most would expect. In the beginning, Harry was the kind-hearted, shy boy, eager to make friends and avoid conflict. But by the end of his second year, something inside him shifted, and he underwent a transformation that surprised even his closest friends who were not as close to him as before. Gone was the timid boy who once looked to others for guidance. In his place stood a young man whose demeanor had turned as cold and distant as a winter’s night.
Whispers followed him wherever he went—tattoos, of a dark and mysterious side. It was said that one of his tattoos depicted Draco’s constellation, a cruel mockery of the quiet, thoughtful boy. The rumor bore no fruit as no one had ever seen the two students interact apart from sometimes being partners in class. But based on this song being sung and the video shown, the rumor was nothing more than an empty story. The truth now broadcasted for the entire Hogwarts to see was, Harry’s actions weren’t born of cruelty or hatred, but rather of a love that had been quietly formed in the shadows. What seemed like an act of mocking was, in reality, an expression of something far more profound: a tribute to someone he loved.
"Holy Father, judge my sins
I'm not afraid of what they will bring
I'm not the boy that you thought you wanted
I love him"
The ending of the video showed Draco and Harry kissing and then quietly smiling at each other as the song fades out.
As the song got to the end and the audience recovered from their shock, claps sounded and a few members stood to their feet clapping enthusiastically. Draco stood back and smiled and then immediately fled the stage. Awaiting at the foot was Harry, sleeves rolled up showing the various tattoos and arms wide open. Draco jumped into arms and wrapped his legs around his waist as he grinned into a kiss.
As if amplified in the ensuing chaos, Harry's voice could be heard
"Perfection".
