Chapter 3

There is something soft beneath his head. His knees hurt. The floor is hard beneath his back.
The floor? When did he lie down?
James opens his eyes. A painful blurry mess greets him. He closes them. Opens one just a crack. Blinks a few times. The world, well not sharp again but that is definitely the ceiling in Harry's room. Dark blue splattered with small yellow lights.

Right, Harry's room. Where he passed out. When he tried to save Lily.
She must be save. She must be alright. She hugged him, held him. Before the world turned black.
He turns his head. Bad idea. His sight laggs behind. Dull pain presses into his head from above his ear.
A black fuzzy spot appears right in front of his face. Hair maybe?

Then the sound returns. Has it been quiet?
Some high sound, shouldn't it be loud? He can just barely hear it.
The black sploch changes shape. It's long now, framing something light. A face?

The high sound gets louder. More distinct. Crying.
Another sound joins the wailing. This one deeper, closer. Right in front of him. Something moves there. The face.
The second sound. Must be a voice, then.

"...hear me?...." the wails drown out some words. He feels something scrape along his face. The pain pressing in intensifies.

"Oww"

Then the pain subsides.

"Prongs...here..."

Padfoot?

"...make sure...you...fine"

Padfoot is here. Padfoot says he is fine. He must be fine, then. He can rest now.

"...stay..."

He's not going anywhere. He'll just rest. Sleep. Right were he is.

"...d you...listen..."

Listen. To Padfoot. He.. he can do that.
Just. Look at him.

"Alright"
