Chapter 10
Professor Garrison burst into the Defence against the dark arts classroom, with Stan in tow. Stan took a seat next to where Kyle was sat with Kenny and Butters.
"Guys" Stan was trembling as he said softly "Mr Garrison gave me a spot on the Quidditch team!" The three boys jaws dropped in unison.
"He what?" Kenny said through his teeth. Stan simply nodded. He looked shell shocked.
"Awh wow! That's well deserved Stan!" Butters clapped his hands together excitedly. Kyle clapped him on the back and winked.
"Told you that you were good" Stan grasped at Kyle's robe sleeve.
"Pinch me man. Make sure I'm not going loony right now" Kyle laughed and hit him on the back hard before releasing him.
"You deserve it man. But hey, thanks to your behaviour we missed 30 minutes of our first DATDA class"
"Stop being such a nerd" Kenny grinned "Be happier for Stan"
"Of course I'm happy" Kyle retorted "But our next DATDA class is next week! I'll have to wait too long"
"Sorry dude" Stan smiled sheepishly. Kyle waved him off.
"No big deal. Sorry for dampening your mood" Just then Professor Garrison spoke up for the first time upon entering.
"Turn to page 394"
The chatter died down, and the lesson began.
The lesson finished soon enough, as there was only around 20 minutes left. The class flooded out of the classroom doors, heading towards the great hall for dinner.
"Craig got accepted too. It wasn't just me" Stan said
"I mean yeah. I think he would have freaked if you were the only one to get in" Kyle snorted.
"That's so cool though, two first years on the team. That like, never happens" Kenny offered up.
"I'm just that good" Stan smirked. They reached the gates of the hall.
"I hate how we are all in separate houses" Stan deflated slightly. "I mean, yeah I have friends in gryffindor, but not as close."
"Same. Our friend group has people from all different houses. It's hard to get together sometimes." Kyle shrugged
"Sucks to be you guys" Kenny had his signature grin on his face, as he linked arms with Butters and headed towards the Hufflepuff table.
"Fuck Kenny dude." Stan stared after them. "Anyways, see you man" He waved Kyle goodbye and also headed to his table. Kyle approached the blues and bronzes of the Ravenclaw students and looked around for the people he recognised. He soon linked eyes with Tolkien and made his way over.
"Hey man" Tolkien greeted him warmly. "What did you just have?"
"I had flying then DATDA"
"That sounds fun! Way better than divination" Tolkien grimaced.
"It was! Stan and Craig got accepted into the quidditch team!" As Kyle said this, Wendy sat down opposite them.
"They what?" She said sharply
"You heard me..."
"How irresponsible of the professors to allow such misbehaviour." Wendy shook her head in disapproval
"Hey, they must be real good if they allow it" Tolkien shrugged "Congratulate them for me, yeah" Kyle nodded, though keeping his gaze trained on Wendy. She looked upset.
"What's wrong Wendy?"
"Stan could have gotten really hurt" She said "What happened to Cartman could have happened to him. Oh. And I guess to Craig too."
"But it didn't. Professor Garrison wouldn't let inexperienced players on the team." Wendy sighed.
"I guess not..."
"They're fine. Trust me. Trust Stan too. He wouldnt willingly put himself in harms way."
"I mean I think he would. He's a gryffindor after all" Tolkien pointed out
"Shut up Tolkien"
They chattered through the rest of Dinner before parting ways for the evening. Wendy and Tolkien went back to their rooms, while Kyle hung back and waited for Stan.
"Sorry I took so long. I was telling Scott my success story." Stan said, approaching him.
"Scott? What about Tweek?"
"Oh I didn't see him at lunch. I don't know where he is" Stan shrugged. Kyle didn't linger on the thought.
"Where are you headed now?"
"I'll probably head back to the Gryffindor common room soon. Wanna take a walk around first though?" Stan asked. Kyle nodded and they set off down the corridor together. "You know, I half wish we didn't meet on the train when we did" Stan began suddenly.
"Huh? Why not?"
"I mean, you're my closest friend here right? But we can't hang out as much as I would like. We only see eachother in class."
"I guess you're right. Every other time is spent in houses or in common rooms." Kyle replied slowly.
"Yeah, so it would be easier to have friends in our houses." Kyle wondered about that.
"But if we hadn't met on the ride here, our friend group would be non existent" Stan nodded at that.
"I just wish there was somewhere we could all go to hang out that's not in the courtyard or corridor. Like our own private little common room." Stan sighed. "Oh well. You can't have it all I guess."
But as Stan said that, there was a slight rumble from the stone wall next to them. Before either of them knew it, the flat wall had turned into an old fashioned wooden door, stood before them. They glanced at eachother. Mouths agape.
"What the fuck"
