Chapter 5
"Hey Kyle!" Stan waved frantically as they approached.
"Hey Craig" Tweek offered Craig a nervous smile. Craig's eyes widened slightly, and he gave an awkward, mechanical wave in response.
"Hey Kyle, so this is Scott who I mentioned earlier." Stan gestured to the boy who Kyle didn't recognise, who nodded his head in greeting. "Anyway man, I have GOT to tell you what Cartman got up to in History of Magic." Kyle and Stan separated from the others and started walking to the courtyard, where they sat down together next to the fountain.
"That's what happened." Stan finished.
"What an asshole" Kyle commented.
"Tell me about it. Anyways, I was going to ask you if you were going to go for the quidditch trials." Stan changed the topic completely.
"Oh, nah that's not really my sort of thing." Kyle scrunched up his nose "I bet that's right up your alley though"
"You bet!" Stan said with glee "I would be such a good Beater trust"
"I don't doubt it. Tolkien said he would go for it. Craig also mentioned trying out for seeker. But I hear they never pick first years."
"Well I'm gonna be the exception" Stan was full of confidence. The epitome of a gryffindor.
"I have broomstick lessons tomorrow. Who knows, maybe I'll have a knack for it too"
"Me too dude!" Stan grinned "I thought we wouldn't share any classes if we weren't in the same house, but I'm seeing you literally every second of the day"
They laughed together as the day grew late, and eventually Stan and Kyle went their separate ways to their common rooms. Kyle was already tired of the long walk up to Ravenclaw tower. Too many long flights of stairs. But eventually, he went into his dorm room to find Tolkien already there, unpacking the rest of his suitcase.
"Sup dude" Kyle greeted, flopping down on his bed.
"Hey man! How was your day?" Tolkien was bright and cheerful, even after a long day's work.
"Not bad. Can't wait for a long night sleep though."
"Tell me about it. I had broomstick lessons today, and some Slytherin kid barreled into my shoulder. It's gonna leave a bruise tomorrow." Tolkien grimaced.
"I have that tomorrow." Kyle commented. "How did they split up the classes for broomstick lessons?"
"I think it was random" Tolkien said slowly. "I mean, I can't find a common relationship between anyone in my class anyway."
"Fair enough" Kyle yawned. "Right. Imma get ready for bed and knock myself out. Later."
"Night. Remember to go to breakfast at 8AM tomorrow. I think PC principle has an announcement for the first years."
Kyle nodded in acknowledgement before slowly getting ready for bed. The world turned dark as soon as his head hit the pillow.
