Chapter 2

As everyone stepped out of the hogwarts express, matching expressions of awe were plastered apon each person's faces as they all gazed at the figure of hogwarts castle.

"Woah... I've seen pictures from my parents and sister, but I have never seen the castle in real life" Stan said, standing at Kyle's shoulder

"It's even bigger than I imagined" Kyle replied "I never thought that we would have to use boats to get there either"

Students were piling up onto wooden boats to cross the water to the building. Alike to on the train, Kyle, Stan, Cartman and Kenny were all sharing a boat.

"Bet your fellow muggles couldn't create something as great as this" Cartman jeered at Kyle

"It's not a competition dude" Stan said, shutting him down.

Kyle was too busy admiring his surroundings to focus on Cartman, and Kenny seemed to be doing the same.

"I want to be able to describe this perfectly to my little sister." He said. "My brother did to me, and I want to do the same to her"

"Broooo that's well cute" Stan grinned "My sister hates my guts. She left me alone at the station earlier to go be with her friends instead"

"Ew guys stop being such girls" Cartman interrupted.

Kenny's expression hardened. "How is caring for my little sister being a girl? You are just jealous that you don't have a functioning family"

"EH! KYENNY" Cartman exclaimed. But they didn't have to listen to him for any longer as they had arrived at the castle gates. There was a teacher standing there, giving directions, and then began leading all of the students up towards the main hall.

Due to the crowd of people, there was a lot of shoving and pushing, and Kyle ended up barreling into another persons shoulder.

"Fuck dude! Watch it" Said a nasally, monotoned voice.

"Sorry man! I lost my balance" Kyle apologised, looking towards the person he hit. It was a tall black haired boy, with pale skin and an angry expression on his face.

"Craig, chill, obviously it was an accident" a dark skinned boy said from next to him. Craig just flipped him off in response. "It's ok dude. The names Tolkien. You?"

"I'm Kyle"

"Nice to meet you Kyle. I mean it. Craig here is just sour because he lost his guinea pig on the train."

"I didn't fucking lose it!" Craig burst out "Clyde took it! He's the fucking one!"

"So let's go and confront him later instead of holding everyone up in this hallway, ok?" Tolkien gave Kyle a smile and he and Craig continued foreward as Kyle went to reunite with Stan up ahead.

"Who were they?" Stan questioned

"Um the taller one was called Craig, and the guy next to him was Tolkien"

"Token...?"

"Yeah, Tolkien." Kyle confirmed. Stan nodded slowly as they continued walking. Before longz they had reached the doors to the main hall.

"Through here, you will be sorted by the sorting hat." The professor was saying. "Once you do, please go and join your designated table. Please do this in a calm and sensible manner.""

The doors opened up, and the great hall was revealed in all of its glory. It was majestic, filled with students of different ages, with an endless ceiling which looked like a night sky. All of the first years were lead down the center of the hall, towards where the sorting hat was perched on a wooden stool. The professor standing next to it began calling out names.

One he recognised:

"Tolkien Black!"

"RAVENCLAW"

As Kyle's surname began with B, he was called up rather soon after.

"Kyle Brovloski!"

Kyle walked nervously up to the stool, and the sorting hat was placed gently atop his head.

*Hmmm.. what to do with you... You have different qualities.. that is true.... Maybe not Hufflepuff... Slytherin? Oh... Gryffindoor may suit you too... No. I see your knowledge and intellectual abilities through and through....*

"RAVENCLAW"

The hall erupted in applause, as Kyle went to go take his seat at the blue table. Students clapped him on the back and grinned at him happily. He sat down next to Tolkien, who smiled at him warmly. The noise settled down and other first years continued to get sorted.

"Eric Cartman!"

"SLYTHERIN"

The boy puffed out his chest in pride, moving towards the green table.

"Stan Marsh!"

"GRYFFINDOR"

Just as he had predicted.

"Kenny McCormick!"

"HUFFLEPUFF"

It turned out that the four of them all ended up being sorted into separate houses.

"Craig Tucker!"

"SLYTHERIN"

The final boy he had met that day was sorted into Cartmans house. Kyle didn't pay much attention to the rest of the sortings, as he hadn't met any of the other first years yet. However, more and more people began joining him and Tolkien on the Ravenclaw table.

"Hi! My name's Wendy!" A pretty girl with dark hair sat on Kyle's other side. "Nice to meet you!"

"I'm Kyle." He replied. Introducing himself for what it felt like, the 100th time that day. Along with Wendy, there was also a girl Called Heidi, and another boy named Kevin.

"This is so surreal" Kyle whispered to Tolkien next to him.

"You'll get used to it" Tolkien encouraged.

"Are you from a wizard family?"

"My parents are both high up aurors in the ministry" Tolkien explained. "I've been exposed to magic for my whole life. I'm used to it"

"That's cool man" Kyle replied. He meant it. Everything was so unusual from the Muggle world. These feelings were solidified when ravenclaws designated prefect began to lead them to their common room, and Kyle became face to face with moving staircases.

"What the fuck"

Tolkien laughed from next to him, and they all began to ascend to the Ravenclaw tower. To enter, they had to solve a riddle.

*Glittering points that downward thrust, sparkling spears that never rust. What are they?*

"Icicles" Kyle muttered under his breath.

This was the right answer, as the moment that the word had left Kyle's mouth, the door swung open to reveal the deep blue and bronze room within. It was wide, and circular, with windows plastered across every wall, giving a beautiful view of the hogwarts grounds.
Books also lined the walls. The room was decorated with silks and carpets, covered with stars and constellations.

"Wow" Tolkien sighed from next to him. Kyle agreed wholeheartedly. This was the place that they would be spending the next 6 years.
