Fuck being Sober.
Summary
Sirius goes to a concert. One that surprisingly hosts his brother who he hadn't seen in ten years.
Note
The song Is twisted. I mixed up the words as it goes on.

"You guys know that song I dedicated to my forbidden lover. That one who crushed everything within me by not giving me the chance when they had it?" The crowds cheer a chorus of 'yes's falling through the stadium.

"I think I'm going to make an album and we'll call it the forbidden fruits. Sing about all the forbidden things I was never taught to love. How's that?" Regulus shouted out, hand to his ear as though he can't hear them echoing across the stadium.

"And we'll start." He begins, strumming the cords of his guitar. "With a song I would like to personally play for you guys for a man whos here tonight. Someone I loved and cherished more than anything in the world. My soulmate had you'd say. My twin." He sneers and takes his steps back to the middle of the stage.

"Because The words." He hums into his mic as the instruments start up. "of a Drunken man stay with you more than that of action of your sober twin."

"We die, then it's over" Dorcas sings as the lyrics start.

"So fuck being sober" He grins at her, answering her back. Sirius feels his heart drop out of his feet. The words echoing around in his head as the song plays a target to him specifically.

("One day it'll all be over." Sirius says slumped over his drink staring down at the brown liquid inside. "Well be dead then." He says exhuastedly.

"Until then?" Regulus questions giving him a sad look as Sirius raises his gaze to meet his brothers.

"Fuck being sober." He says downing his drink.)

I could write seventeen songs in a day

No one's gon' give a shit 'bout what I say

They're always gonna ask, what my job is

Probably 'cause you dropped out of college

Couple kids from my town already got hitched

I still got mommy issues, I ain't fixed

Think, "I'm gonna drink all my money"

Why they all look at me funny?

("How are you planning to do that?" Regulus asks with a laugh and Sirius rises to stand turning back to his friends. Sirius just gives wild laugh.

"Think I'm just going to drink them bankrupt. Give them a taste of their own medicine." )

As lyrics play in sync with his memories.

So pour me another

("Bartender! Another round!")

One for my brother

("One for my brother too please!" Sirius grins wickedly at his younger brother.)

And two for my parents

("Another two for the both of us for our parents." Regulus groans and glares at him.

"Why are you doing this to us?" He sneers. Sirius grins at him mischievously.)

I know they can't stand this

("You know that they can't stand me.")

I hate the world, that shit just ain't for me

9 to 5, that shit is so boring

People always tellin' me things

I just wanna do my own thing

The happiest I've been's at a party

Wasted with my friends and why not?

("Why are you doing this to yourself Siri." Regulus says softly as he helps his brother to his room. Their parents thankfully asleep for the night as Sirius had made such a ruckus climbing through the wrong window drunk and high. Sirius stares at him eyes blood shot and cheeks flushed. He probably looks pitiful based on the look Regulus gives him. Sirius feels his emotions overflow and the tears track down his cheeks before he sobs. Leaning forward into his brother.

"I fucking hate them. I fucking hate everything. I hate how they dictate my life. Always telling me what to do and how to do it and I hate the entire fucking world that feels against me. I just want to do my own thing do what makes me happy. I can't fucking do that because everything they want for me Isn't for me. None of this shit is for me. Nothing at all. The happiest I have ever been is with my friends at a party, wasted and high like nothing ever matters. It's the closest thing to freedom I'll ever fucking get." He broke down. Regulus holds him as his body trembles.)

We die, then it's over

So fuck being sober

Pause where everything is momentarily silent for no longer than a millisecond. His brothers voice choing in the space.

Let me just take a sec for his best friends

"Remus and Jamie, thank god they're not dead" Regulus shouts out mocking with his friends onstage his body turned towards Dorcas as they gesture wildly. Sirius feels his friends tense beside him. Remus's hand that had once rested comfortingly on his shoulder squeezing tighter. James frozen still beside him.

Stealing street signs in his two-door

Still the same nights that he lives for

Regulus turns back to the crowd a maniacal smile on his face. But Sirius sees just below it. The pain and hurt he was caused due to Sirius's actions. It's why he's calling him out on stage now. Unbeknownst to the crowd of people cheering and laughing.

Everyone's worried 'bout where they'll all be

In fifty years, he'll be there singing off-key

Faded as his jeans when his messed up

Chasin' all his dreams with a red cup

His eyes flit across the crowd searching for him. Regulus spots him, grin faltering to a sneer before he turns away.

So pour him another

He gestures in their direction and the eyes of his friends follow. Sirius feels the tears start to gather.

One for his brother

He gestures to himself.

And two for our parents

He spreads his arms wide head turning to find his eyes as he grits his teeth together.

You know they can't stand this

The tears fall and his brother turns away from him again, focusing on the crowd. Perception changing with the lyrics, like he's seeing it from his own eyes now instead of Sirius's.

He hates the world, that shit just ain't for him

9 to 5, that shit is so borin'

People always tellin' him things

He just wanna do his own thing

The happiest he's been's at a party

Wasted with his friends and why not?

He'll die, then it's over

So fuck being sober

Sirius feels the way his body trembles. Body's bumping into him as they jump and sway. Remus tugs him away the people around them laughing and humming along to the chorus. He stumbles back, eyes glued to the stage as his brother sways and dances to his own song.

"We need to leave Sirius Come on." James shouts eyes darting between him and his brother. Sirius stops tugs his arm away as he pushes through the crowd to get closer to the stage. The tears are staining his clothes and he feels the dampness over his neck as they drench his collar. Regulus may look like he's having fun but his head is bowed and his friends are holding their heads high and pointed away from him with tense bodies. It's a tell tale sign his brothers trying not to cry and they don't want to see it.

If there's one thing Regulus Black doesn't do is cry. And in front of a crowd of people such as this he's about to. James and Remus shout at him as he gets closer to the edge of the stage. As his brother raises his head, eyes teary and glazed over.

We die, then it's over

So fuck being sober

They lock eyes and Sirius freezes, breath caught in his throat.

Truth is, one day

All these wasted nights will

Turn to warm days

And you'll be somewhere else with

New friends and new ways

A little hungover, but you're fine

His voice is watery almost drowned out by the crowd. But Sirius knows his brother. He always has. He's angry sure but it's not just his own anger. It's something he's sharing with Sirius and his own throat clogs and breaks.

But all I know for now is

Sirius doesn't even think darting past the guard as Regulus watches him with a small watery smile. Voice growing in volume picking up a joyous tone.

You hate the world, that shit just ain't for you

9 to 5, Yeah shit like that bores you

SIrius clambers up on stage, the guards preoccupied with James and Remus as they try and fail to go after him.

Mothers always tellin' you things

You just wanna do your own thing

Regulus turns to him a smile gracing his face as his lyrics break with a laugh.

You die, then it's over

Sirius throws his head back, already having caught on to the chorus.

"So fuck being sober" They all cheer out, his hands clasped over his mouth to echo it.

"Woo!" Dorcas cheers behind him smile wide as he grasps his brother hand to dance with him on stage. He twirls him around stupidly while they sing together. Sirius has never be the best at it, better his voice is so much better than anybody else in the crowd.

We die, then it's over

His brother slows, holding his hand tight as Sirius stares at him fondly.

So fuck being sober

He stares at his brother as everything stops going. The crowds drowned out in silence like they're holding their breath in anticipation.

"You always gotta ruin something don't you?" He says with a pointed look and Sirius laughs stupidly as it echos across the stadium.

"I guess so." He gestures with roll of his eyes and tilt of his head.

"What took you so long?" Regulus says and Sirius doesn't know what he's talking about but with everything he thinks it's about why he didn't find him sooner. Regulus looks a little pained as Sirius stands silent.

"Didn't know how to get here really. Couldn't find the right path." Regulus eyes, still teary, close as he takes a shaky breath and slams into him for a hug.

"Your such a fucking moron." And Sirius doesn't hear it echo so he thinks somebody cut his mic.

"I know." He whispers arms wrapping around him tightly. "God I know." He repeats head burying into his curls.
