If Professor Snape's Book Had Been in Room of Requirement

“Yuder!” Kishiar called for Yuder as he stared at one particular book. When Yuder arrived from his slow and cautious task of finding and moving every item with a magical trace in it to the corner they had designated for them with his ability of controlling wind so that Yuder wouldn’t get accidentally cursed, Kishiar showed him the book in his hands.

“Is this? Could it be? Do you recognize this handwriting?” Kishiar asked.

Yuder peered into the book and then blinked. Yuder recognized it just as he would recognize the potion instructions Professor Snape would write on the board for them to read during class so that they didn’t have to flip through a book or possibly get it dirty while they were making the potion. Yuder recognized it just as he had recognized Professor Snape’s Christmas note to him in the morning before he had gotten to the professor’s signature.

“It’s Professor Snape’s.” Yuder answered.

“His old potion book from his school years?” Kishiar asked in excitement. “How much do you reckon we can sell it for?!”

“We are not selling it, Kishiar.” Yuder rejected the idea firmly, taking the book from him.

“I know. Just joking.” Kishiar smiled, knowing that Yuder and Professor Snape did get along rather well though Professor Snape was infamous for only liking his Slytherins. Kishiar also quite liked the professor as well. He wasn’t that bad… if you weren’t ‘completely incompetent’ or a Gryffindor.

Professor Snape also had a point in that it was very important to follow instructions in his class because not doing so would send the person to the infirmary like Neville had apparently been in his first Potions class. The failed Boil Cure Potion had apparently caused horrible boils to appear on the poor eleven-year-old’s skin, his partner’s cauldron to melt, and the classroom to be filled with acrid green smoke. When the potion spilled, it even burned holes in people’s shoes.

Imagine if they had been in that class.

Kishiar shuddered and was so glad that Hufflepuff was with Ravenclaw instead. Kishiar didn’t want anyone to accidentally poison or hurt Yuder even if the cause was an eleven-year-old unintentionally making a simple mistake.

Judging by the stories of Neville’s Potion classes after that, Kishiar hoped that they would continue being paired with Ravenclaw each year until they reached the N.E.W.T. levels.

Nothing against Neville as a person, but Kishiar really wanted Yuder to be kept away from all dangers, including those posed by his classmates.

“But let’s read it sometime soon! I skimmed some of it and it has more spells like Muffliato! Professor Snape must have invented it!”

At that, Yuder looked through the book he had confiscated, his eyes glowing brighter at the annotations and advice written throughout the book, the spells scrawled in the margins.

Kishiar smiled when Yuder hadn’t even paid much thought to the first page that he had skimmed through.

Half-blood prince. To think Professor Snape had given himself such a nickname.
