The Sorting.
Professor McGonagall summons a list and begins reading the first years' names. Draco watches as a very scared-looking, blond-haired girl walks up to the sorting hat, sitting down and waiting for her house. After a few moments, the sorting hat shouts,
"HUFFLEPUFF!"
One of the tables bursts into cheers as the girl smiles awkwardly at other people at her table.
"Black Lynette!" Professor McGonagall shouts.
The hall goes deadly silent. Draco looks at the girl, who is looking quite confused at why everyone suddenly pauses. She walks up to the chair before trying on the sorting hat. Everyone seems to hold their breath as the hat decides.
"RAVENCLAW!" It yells, causing a table to cheer for her.
The girl smiles brightly before walking over to her table. Draco sees one of the older students questioning the girl, but she looks very confused. The older student seems to visibly relax as the girl answers one of his questions, the pair going back to watching the sorting.
"Zambini Archana!" Professor McGonagall shouts.
A thin, black-hair girl walks up to the seat. The hat barely grazes her head before it shouts,
"GRYFFINDOR!"
The girl freezes in shock, looking around the Slytherin table till she sees Blaise. She looks so scared, Draco thinks. The girl walks over to Gryffindor's table, luckily sitting next to Harry. Harry warmly smiles at the girl, introducing himself and pointing to Draco, Pansy, and Blaise. The girl relaxes and chats with him till the next name is called up.
"Frostvale Malachi!" Professor McGonagall shouts. A boy confidently walks up, sitting down on the seat. The hat takes a while on him before declaring,
"SLYTHERIN!"
The boy grins as cheers erupt from the far table, and he saunters over to sit beside an older year, who looks a lot like him. Draco continues watching the sorting, getting increasingly bored as the list drones on and on. Draco glances up at a name he thought he must've misheard. But no, even Professor McGonagall is shocked and repeats the name through he silent hall.
"Potter Faye!"
