Eon-nyeoni is infuriatingly handsome in her suit. As much as it pains her to admit, Hee-shin can't help herself in noticing that particular fact. She shouldn't even be entertaining the thought. There is the mission to focus on, granted all she can do at the moment is wait for the train to reach the destination. But as soon as Hee-shin's reminded herself of all the reasons why contemplating this is a bad idea, she glances over and sees her temporary companion's head bounce as she tries to sleep. The tiny ember deep inside threatens to grow. Hee-shin has thought that part of her was long dead. She can't remember the last time she had allowed herself to focus on anything except her cause. The fight for freedom has been her driving force for so long that she didn't have space for romance or anything of the sort. Something as simple as attraction was at best a frivolous distraction and at worst a liability. But she's only human, so of course the hope for such things had come flickering back to life at the worst possible time. Right after the first interaction she had with a certain cocky, foul-mouthed, and definitely off-limits bounty hunter. Nobody had ever dared to insult her like that before and the smirk on Eon-nyeoni's face had sent a small thrill though her. Hee-shin admires the sheer confidence this woman has about everything. Even when she had gotten arrested, she still maintained her swagger. Hee-shin does wonder how much of it is a mask though. Everyone has one, especially her. Her persona of a pro-Japanese noblewoman was so good that no one, not even her fiancé, has ever suspected her. She envies Eon-nyeoni's ability to make people think twice about messing with her and to not show fear. Maybe that's all this is, envy not attraction. She's not sure, both feelings are so heavily intertwined that she can barely tell the difference. Not that it matters. After this mission, they would part ways and most likely never see each other again. However, that thought has the opposite effect of what she intended. It makes Hee-shin want to do something reckless. Well, as reckless as she dared.
"Hey." Hee-shin says, pushing on Eon-nyeoni's shoulder. "Wake up!"
Eon-nyeoni jolts awake and immediately scans for danger. Finding nothing, she settles into her seat again and looks at Hee-shin, "Why'd you wake me up?"
"I'm tired of watching your head bounce around like that! Just lean on my shoulder." Hee-shin snaps. Annoyance is as close to bravado as she can get right now.
Eon-nyeoni just blinks at her and looks incredulous. For the first time since they met, Hee-shin watches her actually hesitate. She is preparing to take it back when Eon-nyeoni finally answers her.
"Well, if you're offering." Eon-nyeoni says and slowly lowers her head on to Hee-shin's shoulder. "Don't be upset if I dirty your coat, princess." She adds with a smirk.
Hee-shin stays completely still as Eon-nyeoni eventually relaxes enough to go back to sleep. She's still amazed that she managed to surprise the bounty hunter. She had expected Eon-nyeoni to laugh off the gesture and perhaps tease her a bit. Instead, she got to witness the mask come down, just for a moment. There had been confusion in her eyes as if she couldn't believe that someone was actually being nice to her. Hee-shin wonders when Eon-nyeoni last experienced kindness. She also wonders if she had been as easy to read. Hee-shin tries not to care too much about that, ultimately she got what she wanted. Eon-nyeoni is now close enough that Hee-shin could lean her head against hers. The urge to do just that is shoved back down as far as possible. She smells like horses and gunpowder with a slight hint of cigarette smoke. It's an oddly comforting combination. Hee-shin sighs gently, trying not to move too much. She hopes they arrive soon, before she gives in to the burning ember and does something truly reckless.
