Chapter 4
Snape's POV (A/n i forgot to write that in the last chappie. oh well have fun)
The early morning sun cast a golden glow across Hogwarts, heralding a special day. Severus Snape had been up since dawn, quietly preparing for the occasion. Today was Harry's birthday, and though the boy was too young to fully understand the significance, Snape was determined to make it a memorable day.
In the small sitting area of Snape's quarters, a modest stack of presents awaited Harry's attention. Snape had spent weeks gathering the gifts, carefully selecting each one with the help of Minerva McGonagall and, surprisingly, Remus Lupin. There were books with colorful pictures, soft toys, and a small broomstick charmed to hover just a few inches off the ground.
Harry awoke with a yawn, rubbing his eyes as he sat up in bed. When he saw Snape standing by the window, a smile spread across his face. "Mornin', Sev'us!"
Snape's heart warmed at the sight. "Good morning, Harry. Come here, I have something to show you."
Harry toddled over, his curiosity piqued. When he saw the presents, his eyes grew wide. "What's all that?"
Snape knelt beside him, resting a hand on his shoulder. "Today is your birthday, Harry. These are for you."
Harry's mouth formed a small "O" of surprise. "Birfday?"
"Yes, Harry. A day just for you." Snape guided him to the presents. "Go on, open them."
With Snape's gentle encouragement, Harry tore into the wrapping paper, his delight growing with each new discovery. The small broomstick was a particular favorite; Harry's eyes lit up as he watched it hover above the floor, and he eagerly climbed on, giggling as it gently floated around the room.

As the morning wore on, the celebration continued with a visit from Minerva McGonagall. She arrived carrying a small cake decorated with brightly colored icing. Harry's face lit up at the sight of her, and he ran to greet her with a hug.
"Happy birthday, Harry!" Minerva said warmly, ruffling his hair. "Look what I brought you."
Harry's eyes widened at the sight of the cake. "Cake!"
Snape conjured a small table and chairs, setting the cake down with care. Harry clambered into a chair, his excitement palpable. As Minerva lit the candles, Snape found himself smiling, a rare expression that felt both strange and right.
"Make a wish, Harry," Minerva said gently.
Harry scrunched up his face in concentration, then blew out the candles with a single breath. The adults clapped, and Harry beamed with pride.
As they enjoyed the cake, the door opened once more, and Remus Lupin stepped inside, carrying a large, brightly wrapped package. "Happy birthday, Harry!"
Harry's face lit up even more, if that was possible. "Moony!" He jumped off his chair and ran to Remus, who swept him up in a hug.
"Look what I have for you," Remus said, setting the package down. "Go ahead, open it."
Harry's small hands quickly worked at the wrapping, revealing a beautifully crafted wooden train set. His eyes sparkled with joy as he began to assemble the pieces, the adults watching with fond smiles.

The day passed in a blur of laughter and play. Harry's joy was infectious, filling Snape's quarters with a warmth that had been absent for so long. As evening approached, they all gathered around the fireplace, Harry nestled comfortably in Snape's lap.
"Did you have a good birthday, Harry?" Snape asked quietly, brushing a strand of hair from the boy's forehead.
Harry nodded, his eyes drooping with the onset of sleep. "Best birfday ever."
Snape's heart swelled with a mix of pride and tenderness. "I'm glad, Harry."
Minerva and Remus shared a glance, their expressions reflecting a shared understanding of the significance of the day. This small celebration, simple as it was, marked a new beginning for Harry, one filled with love and hope.
As Harry drifted off to sleep, Snape carefully carried him to bed, tucking him in with a soft blanket. He stood for a moment, watching the boy sleep, marveling at how much had changed in such a short time.
"You've done a remarkable thing, Severus," Minerva said softly from the doorway.
Snape turned, his expression serious but touched by a hint of gratitude. "I couldn't have done it alone."
Remus stepped forward, placing a hand on Snape's shoulder. "We're here for both of you. Always."
Snape nodded, his resolve strengthening. Together, they would ensure that Harry's future was bright and filled with the love and care he deserved.
As he turned back to watch over Harry, Snape felt a deep sense of fulfillment. The road ahead would not be easy, but for the first time in a long time, he felt truly hopeful. Harry's birthday had been a day of joy and new beginnings, a promise of better days to come.
And as the candles flickered and the castle settled into the quiet of night, Severus Snape knew that he would do everything in his power to protect and nurture the precious life entrusted to him.
