Chapter 1: Privet drive
Harry pov:
After Cedric Diggorys death life had been hard for Harry.
Well, harder than usual he supposed.
Harry had never really had a normal life.
At any rate since Cedric's death Harry had been getting rather realistic and terrifying nightmares.
Nightmares depicting Cedric's death and Voldemorts finger pressing down on his lightning bolt shaped scar. The pain searing into his forehead and traveling throughout his entire body.
This night was different, Harry could feel something was off.
He could tell the Dursleys could feel it too.
It was an odd thrum beneath his skin. A throbbing in his head.
He, as usual, was locked in the cupboard labeled "brats room." It wasn't uncommon to find Harry sitting in the cupboard under the stairs most days in summer. He did not want to be in the cupboard of course. It was a small dark dusty place and with Harry's growing claustrophobia it wasn't especially pleasant to be in there.
But of course Vernon has insisted that "the brat" be put in his place. He locked the cupboard with him inside it and often wouldn't let him come out for some days.
He only got let out when the Dursleys needed something from him, such as cleaning or cooking, he was a house made of sorts for them.
Harry didn't mind the cleaning so much, he actually liked helping out. It kept his mind off of everything else.
What he did mind though, was the frequent beatings Vernon would give to him when he did something wrong.
The usual things like, burning the food, or leaving dust on the mantle, things like that.
On this particular day he was sitting in the cupboard and focused on his head throbbing. When suddenly the door slammed open and a hand grabbed him by the ear and threw him on the floor of the hallway.
Harry's head, already hurt, hit the ground with a sickening thud.
As he looked up, vision swimming he saw Vernon standing over him. Right beside Vernon was petunia and Dudley, he could make out their smug faces through the blury eyesight.
He wondered absent mindedly what he did this time.
He hadn't been let out of the cupboard all day so what could be possibly have done.
It was stupid, stupid to let his mind wonder. Vernon made sure he knew that with a quick kick to the gut. Harry immediately clutched at his stomach, he could taste something metallic in his mouth.
"Oi!"
Vernon yelled
"Did you hear me brat!?"
Harry looked at him with wide eyes
"N-no sir"
That earned him another kick to the ribs.
Harry was sure he could feel a crunch.
"I said, you forgot to remind us about Dudley's doctors appointment today! Now we had to reschedule!"
Of course, Harry thought, that's something to braid a 14 year old boy over.
"S-sorry sir, it won't happen again"
"See to it that it doesn't!"
Vernon spat with disgust.
With that Harry was shoved into the cupboard once more. Once the door slammed he immediately slumped back, his head aching terribly. Unable to keep his eyes open any longer he drifted off to sleep.
He was back there.
Back in the graveyard, staring at Cedric's dead body, unable to move.
All he could do was scream, scream in terror as Voldemorts hand made contact with his forehead.
He woke up to a harsh slap across the face, once again being torn from the cupboard and thrown on the ground.
His heart was racing, everything in him screamed to run. Adrenaline was coursing through his veins.
A punch knocked into his side.
A kick.
Then another.
Vernon was screaming but harry couldn't hear about what.
He looked around and found objects of all shapes and sizes floating in mid air.
Once he noticed this, the furniture immediately dropped to the floor. Breaking everything, even the TV.
That earned him so much more than a kick or a punch.
Vernon screaming in rage grabbed his cane and started bashing Harry's side with it.
Harry for his part couldn't move, couldn't think, he was in so much pain.
Until- he wasn't?
The pain was still there of course but he couldn't feel anything actively hitting him.
He tentatively opened his eyes and saw the whole of the Dursley family petrified on the ground.
Harry's groggy mind slowly caught up to the situation at hand. This was his chance, he had to leave now, but where?
He had no where, the Weasley family was on vacation to who knows where, and Hermione was so far away.
That's when it hit him.
Sirius!
Sirius black, his new found godfather, had given him the address of his home, not to far away from him.
Harry had memorized it in case something like this ever happened.
It was a long shot but if he could trust anyone, it would be Sirius.
