In the Stars
“That tickles!” Hermione squealed, attempting to pull her hand away from the boy who was supposed to be helping her study. Her eyes were currently squeezed shut as the boy held her hand in his and drew constellations lazily on the inside of her palm.
He held her hand tight as she tried to pull back. “Oh honestly, I would rather read about the constellations rather than do this nonsense,” she continued, wishing (but not really) that he would let go.
“Just a few more,” he said, coolly. “My mother used to play this game with me when I was a child.” His voice grew quiet as he reminisced. “The first constellation she taught me is my namesake.”
“Draco,” Hermione whispered, realizing she had never said his name out loud before.
Even though she couldn’t see him, she could sense him nodding in response. “She used to say my name was written in the stars.”
Malfoy cleared his throat. “Now, what is the constellation I’m drawing on your palm?”
“Orion,” she answered.
“Correct.”
She blushed. Of course, she knew. She was always right. But perhaps she wanted to hold his hand a little longer, not wanting the feeling to end.
