River's Song
Summary
It was the funniest thing you see; many times, people walked straight into those acres of boreal forest that certain authorities had forbidden them to access. Among these folks, were adolescents looking for adventures, hunters hoping for illegal profits, fugitives looking for places of refuge. But in rare cases, there were also those who entered searching for someone, some name that was lost among the evergreens.

Prelude No.2

She came during a sunny spring morning, when the warm rays of the sun were shining through layers of newborn leaves and grass. Her name was Lily Jane, a lady in her late sixties, traveling across the mountains while wearing a long skirt dyed with pigments from blueberries.

Lily Jane’s grew up in the cradle of the Evans, who were perhaps one of the loveliest families on earth. Mr. And Mrs. Evans were young printmakers from the Evergreens operating a print shop in downtown Yellowknives. They had two daughters; Petunia Christie and Lily Jane. Petunia Christie later married Vernon, an excellent apprentice of Mrs. Evans. Together they inherited the print shop and eventually passed it down to their children Dudley.

Lily Jane on the other hand, did something rather different with her life. She was the first in her family lines who had shown gifts in the studies of enchantment. With the encouragement of her parents and sister, she applied for the entry examination for the Hogwarts School of Wizardry, an institution in the northern borders dedicated to magical education. It was an increasingly small school serving a rapidly diminishing world. Very little people would like to dedicate their life to studying magic anymore, as technologies were developing fast enough to replace most of its functions. When Lily Jane entered the school, there were only less than twenty new pupils being admitted that year.

It was in the ancient library of Hogwarts, Lily was introduced to Veritable Records of Queen Louis the Tigress, a first century document that was one among the many rare collections managed by the librarian Irma Pince.

Although self-claimed as a trustworthy source of historical information, this tiny booklet was nothing but a sham created by the infamous antique merchant Jonas Hillsberg. It was created thousands of years later after the reign of Queen Louis, comprised mostly of myths and popular stories during the first century. Most of these stories were seen in other literatures from this period, all except one, one concerning a deity banished to wilderness by the town folks that once worshipped him.

That was a simple story written as a parable; a good god that has granted every wish his followers have asked, was eventually cast aside and abandoned when men no longer have needs for prayers and protection. As he was stripped of his shrine, his statues and icons were thrown into the forest, where he continued to watch over the people.

It was still unclear till this very day why this tale intrigued young Lily Jane so much, that she spent decades of her lives searching for her banished deity. From when she was a red hair girl with many freckles, till wrinkles and age spots saturated her skin, she traveled through every conner of the seven continents. When she was finally about to accept the defeat, she had been offered a job at her old school. The headmistress, Madam Dumbledore, has personally invited Lily Jane to be the new history master at Hogwarts.

As Lily Jane traveled back for the first time in more than three decades for the interview, she suddenly got the urge to explore the vast and dangerous landscape spanning across the Highlands. Some of these places were restricted by the royal court ever since the Confederation. It was in these unmapped dominions of fairies and giants Lily Jane finally had met the one she was looking for.

The good god of Jonas Hillsberg stood in front of Lily Jane Evans, one of his last followers. He was a boy accompanied by a herd of unicorns, life brooms on the path he walked. He asked in languages that were now dead, in tones that were reminiscent of the time past. Lily Jane answered in some whispers that were only a little bit louder than the wind. The boy nodded, then kissed goodbye to his unicorns, and followed Lily Jane into the world of mortals.

The good god asked Lily Jane, “My child, what is it that you wish for”. Lily Jane answered, "I want you to be loved”.

In 1991, the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was introduced to a new professor, an experienced history scholar, replacing the retiring professor Bins. Students will soon learn that Professor Evans was a kind, energetic old lady who would often give out hand-made sweets. Her office was covered with matelassé and antique furniture, decorated with etchings and woodcut prints made by her sister and nephews. There, they would sometimes meet the Professor’s son, a shy and reclusive boy named Harry. He has bright green eyes and fiery red hair, almost the splitting image of the childhood pictures of Professor Evans.
