Summary
Darkness greeted him as he woke. The absence of light wasn't anything new to the child. The lake was full of it. It was all he could ever see, whether he was awake or not. However, the wizened hand reaching for him was not normal. Before he could react, it grabbed him and pulled him up, and, for the first time, the sun's rays cheerfully beamed down at him.
Note
This is my first ever fic, I've never written anything before so idk if this will even come to anything. Criticism is welcomed and I really hope you enjoy!

Chapter 1

Darkness greeted him as he woke. The absence of light wasn't anything new to the child. The lake was full of it. It was all he could ever see, whether he was awake or not. However, the wizened hand reaching for him was not normal. Before he could react, it grabbed him and pulled him up, and, for the first time, the sun's rays cheerfully beamed down at him.

"Oh dear." Albus Dumbledore did not think he would find the Boy-Who-Lived in a lake. Quite frankly, the boy had been missing ever since he was 5 years old. The only reason Albus had been able to find him, was due to the fact that Harry's name had come out of the Goblet of Fire. Yet here they were. Speaking of the child, the 14 year old was desperately trying to wriggle out of his grasp, panic and fear encroaching onto his face. Albus gently placed him on the ground, carefully, before placing a ward, ensuring that they would not be heard nor seen. The lake was deep in the forest, but one could never be sure. He turned back towards the boy and- music, such a beautiful song. What on earth was he here for, if not to listen to the music? Nothing else mattered, he didn't matter, he didn't exist, only the song drifting through his body, his soul. Dumbledore fell to his knees, tears dripping into his beard. He didn't deserve to listen such an ethereal melody, he didn't, he wasn't supposed to be here. Wasn't he- No- He had to stop. Unbeknownst to Albus, he had already entered the lake, the music still piercing his ears as he lowered himself into it, the cool water welcoming him into its embrace.
