Quidditch and Concerns

“James made the house team!” Vi smiled as had dinner with her family. “The first match of the season is between Slytherin and Gryffindor.”

“Did he get the Chaser position?”

“Yep, he is super excited! He mentioned they have a way for me to watch the match, but didn’t explain further.”

“Maybe a magical artifact?” Petunia suggested, like a video camera!”

“Maybe, but James explained that Technology doesn’t work around magic.” Vi hummed lightly.

~*~*~*~

“It’s a mirror.” Petunia frowned, Vi was also confused, it was a pretty big mirror, with her dad’s help, they managed to set it up in her room. Vi opened the letter that arrived with it.

Vi

This is a new enchanted mirror we were able to work on. All you need to do is say the say the name of the person you wish to speak to who also has a similar Mirror. In this case me! Give it a try!

Sirius

“I just need to say his name…” Vi hummed lightly.

“Give it a try!” Petunia gasped happily; their parents stood behind them curious.

“Sirius Black.” Vi stated, the mirror shimmered, before it changed, like a TV, she was soon facing the usual group of four. “Guys!” Vi beamed

“It worked!” Sirius cheered. “Welcome to the Gryffindor dorm rooms! We have on set up here so we can talk!” Vi smiled as she saw Remus making some furious notes, most likely on the charms the mirror required.

“We have a mini one so you can watch the quidditch match with us!” James grinned.

“Great, I will be cheering you on!” Vi told them.

“We all will, I think it would be a fun thing to watch if that is okay with you boys.” Mr Evans said.

“No problem at all Mr Evans!” James smiled. “We are thinking of making another one for Lily, so you guys can talk normally too.”

“That would be amazing guys.” Vi smiled. “I am so glad It works; you guys are amazing.” The four boys blushed shyly at her compliments.

The day of the match arrived; the Evans Family had set the mirror up in the living room for a little whilst so they could all watch.

Vi was able to contact the boys, whilst the rest of her family were grabbing a few things.

“Hi guys.” Vi greeted.

“Hi Vi, Lily is also here.” Sirius smiled and turned the mirror to the left slightly, Lily waved at her with a grin. Vi beamed and waved back.

“Do you remember the rules?” Remus asked. Vi giggled and pulled out the book the boys had sent, Quidditch through the ages.

“Yep, you did. And I have them noted down too. But it sounds like a fast-paced game.”

“It is, luckily there is someone providing commentary so that should help you keep up too.” Remus nodded.

“Helpful.” Mr Evans smiled. Vi was excited for the game to start, Sirius was able to point James out once the teams got up into the air, Vi grinned.

Quidditch was indeed fast, and barely something Vi could keep up with. Luckily she was able to follow via the commentary. The Evans family were cheering as Gryffindor won the match.

“That was certainly hard to keep up with.” Mr Evans chuckled lightly, as he was setting Vi’s Mirror back into place.

“Yeah, but doesn’t it look fun?” Vi beamed

“If you go to Hogwarts, I assume we should be expecting you to go for the house team.

“Yep! But James says first years never make the House team, so I would have to wait until second year at the least.” Vi smiled. “If I get to go through…” Her dad ruffled her hair lightly, but he wasn’t sure what to say to comfort her.

That night, Vi was still up, writing down something she wanted to ask Sirius about, she glanced up as the mirror shimmered, and she smiled as Sirius appeared.

“Hi Vi, surprised to see you’re still awake.” He admitted.

“Couldn’t sleep.” She sighed softly. “What’s your excuse?”

“Same. Oh, right, this is the Gryffindor common room.” Sirius lifted the mirror up and showed her around the common room.

“Oh, nice!” Vi smiled. “What’s the view like?” Sirius grinned and moved the window, opening it up, Vi gasped slightly. Lily had always mentioned the Gryffindor common room was in the tallest tower of Hogwarts, seeing the view for herself, Vi could understand why she loved it.

“It’s better in winter, when it snows, and everything is covered.” Sirius said.

“Bet you guys have some pretty great snowball fights?” Vi laughed quietly.

“Sure do. Led by James of course.” Sirius grinned.

“Would be nice if I can join next year.” Vi smiled.

“Of definitely. But I think after that cricket game we’d be standing aside to watch you wreck everyone else.” Sirius chuckled happily. “Will be quite a sight for sure.”

“You guys are so dramatic.” Vi rolled her eyes fondly. “So, what is the real reason you’re awake?”

“Got a letter from my family.” Sirius admitted, Vi frowned.

“Want to talk about it?” She asked softly.

“Its… complicated.” He told her. “I thought being sorted into Gryffindor would make them give up on me, leave me alone. Let me exist without them caring… But nope.” Sirius frowned. “Cause I am the oldest they keep ranting on about me getting resorted into the proper house.”

“Can you even get resorted?”

“No clue, but they want it to happen. I don’t. I like Gryffindor.”

“And it suits you, takes some bravery to go against your family, so, I’d say you’re in the right place.”

“Thanks Vi.” Sirius smiled

“Do the others know?”

“No… not sure how to tell them. But I think they figured out something was wrong with me.”

“James will bother you about it tomorrow then.”

“Oh definitely.” Sirius sighed. “Do you have any plans for tomorrow?” Vi smiled and began to share what she wanted to do tomorrow. Even when Sirius finally went back to the dorm, Vi would continue talking at a whisper until Sirius went to sleep, before she ended the magic call. She leant back on her chair, how could she help him, she couldn’t tell the others, not with Sirius’ permission.

“What can I do?”

~*~*~*~

“Mom, I need help with something.” Vi joined her mom in the kitchen. Mrs Evans was in the middle of baking, but she saw the look on her youngest’s face.

“What’s wrong Vi?” She asked softly.

“I want to cheer Sirius up, he is having family issues, and they are bothering him about it. But I don’t know how I can help.” Vi sighed. “I can’t tell the others cause that wouldn’t be fair on Sirius, and I am not at Hogwarts so, I am not there to help and comfort in person.”

“I see.” Mrs Evans smiled. “Usually, well, for me, if I know someone in a pickle and needing some comfort, I usually bake them something.” She told her daughter. “Why not help me with these cookies, and we can send some to Sirius?”

“We can? Is that okay?” Vi asked.

“Of course, go and get an Apron.” Vi beamed and rushed to grab on.

Sirius,

I wasn’t sure how to help with the issue with the family, I asked my mom for some advice, and she said she normally sends some baked goods to help cheer people up! So, I helped make these Cookies! I hope you feel better soon and know I am on your side!

Vi.
